Sheriff Carpenter declined to obey the order of the court and refused to surrender the prisoner to anyone other than the regular transfer agent of the penitentiary. Judge Bond ordered a fine of $100.00 assessed against Sheriff Carpenter, but Deputy Blackwell left Wednesday morning with Mrs.Wilson, bound for Huntsville. This conflict of authority was discovered by the reporter Wednesday morning in a usual inspection of the criminal docket and this report is made from the record and not from rumor or hearsay.
