Interment followed at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton. Mr. Eiland was born Jun 23, 1932, in Hiram Community, Texas to Knowles Share & Gladys Wester Eiland. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mineola. He grew up in Oak Cliff, where he attended Adamson High School. He joined the Army & served during the Korean Conflict. He married Barbara in 1954 re-enlisted in the Army in 1962 and served during the Vietnam War. After leaving the active duty, he served in the Army Reserve & the National Guard. He served in the military for a total of 23 years. In 1971 he moved to Canton, where he worked as a car salesman in several dealerships in the East Texas area. He served as a past Post Commander for the Canton VFW Post 9171. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Eiland of Canton; son, Steve Eiland & wife Jan of Canton; daughter, Sheryl Wilburn & husband William of Canton; a brother, Shaw Eiland & wife Linda of Grand Saline; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Rusty Lockhart, Danny Shepherd, Rodney Johnson, Mike Housewright, Kenny Reed, Mike Mullins, and Ronnie Stanford.
