Grove. It was the scene for many years of lavish Southern hospitality and purchased March 4, 1873 by Dr. Edmund Duncan Montgomery (1835 - 1911), World famed philosopher and his wife, Elisabet (1834 - 1907)...sculptress of Texas. Maintained as their homestead throughout their lives. Both are buried on the grounds." Additional Comments: Monument was erected by the State of Texas in 1936.
