This Monument is located on the Liendo grounds:
"A Plantation home built in 1858 by Leonard W. Grove.  It was the scene for 
many years of lavish Southern hospitality and purchased March 4, 1873 by Dr. 
Edmund Duncan Montgomery (1835 - 1911), World famed philosopher and his wife, 
Elisabet (1834 - 1907)...sculptress of Texas.  Maintained as their homestead 
throughout their lives.  Both are buried on the grounds."

Additional Comments:
Monument was erected by the State of Texas in 1936.
