The Southern Methodist University (chartered April 17, 1911) has engraved this 
tablet in memory of EDMUND DUNCAN MONTGOMERY hermit philosopher of Liendo, 
March 9, 1805 - April 17, 1911.   Eminent scholar, gifted experimental 
biologist, and brilliant speculative philosopher.
