He established his plantation in what is now Waller County. In 1846 Mrs. Hulda Wade passed away and her grave became the first in the plantation's cemetery. The cemetery is now owned by the estate of Mr. Ed McMahon. Mr. McMahon had all tombstone markers restored and reset and erected a wrought iron fence around the cemetery plot.
