ABER FATALLY INJURED WHEN GAS DRUM EXPLODED ACCIDENT OCCURED WHEN GASOLINE DRUM WHICH WAS BEING WELDED EXPLODES William Taft Aber was fatally wounded early Tuesday morning, while attempting to use an acetylene torch in repairing an empty gasoline barrel. The barrel exploded, the bottom flying out and striking Mr. Aber in the face, cutting and crushing the face terribly. The barrel flew about 50 feet into the air, Mr. Aber unconscious, fell to the ground and bled badly from his wounds. He was rushed to the Rosenburg Hospital in the Wheeler ambulance where he received medical aid, but to no avail for he passed away shortly after noon. William Taft Aber was born Dec. 9, 1908 and died Dec. 5, 1933. He had lived in and near El Campo for many years. Mr. Aber was a willing and diligent worker. He was about his work quietly, always happy to have work to do. He had many friends who are very sad to learn of his untimely death. Mr. Aber is survived by a young wife, and a small child. Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, with Rev. McSpader officiating. Internment was made in the O. D. H. S. Cemetery under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home. =========================================================================== NOTE: (William Taft was the son of William Kelly Aber & Lue Ellen Green Aber.
