P. Birdwell, deceased, was born March 15, 1835 in Carroll county, Tenn.; died Sept. 25, 1912 at Huff, Archer county, Texas. _She was married to William Birdwell Feb. 17, 1852. To this union was born nine children, six girls and three boys, all of whom preceded her to the grave except one girl, Mrs. Bettie Baugh of this city. _One by one God's children are gathering home. Of this fact we are reminded when God who doeth all things best saw fit to sever the silver cords of mortality and take her to a purer and holier atmosphere where all is peace and joy and rest. _Grandma professed faith in Christ and joined the Baptist church at Holly Springs in Tennessee, some fifty-five years ago and lived a loved and esteemed Christian [life] until her death and bore her afflictions without a murmur and never lost an opportunity in pointing sinners the way to Christ. She was a dear wife and mother and loved by all who knew her and her friends are numbered by the score. _She with her husband and family came to Archer county in 1890 and resided at Huff until about two years ago when she came to Wichita Falls to live with her daughter, Mrs. Bettie Baugh, who with a kind and loving heart, sacrificed all pleasures and was ever ready and willing to do all that was in her power to make her dear mother's last days the most pleasant on earth. She and her mother had moved back to Huff just two months before she died as she realized the end was near and wanted to spend her last days at her old home. _The funeral was held at the residence at 10:30 Thursday morning and was conducted by Rev. Morgan of this city. The body was laid to rest in Riverside cemetery here. _To the children and grand-children we offer our sympathy and condolence amid their tears and may they look heavenward and rejoice in the hope of a happy reunion with their loved ones in the home of the blest, where parting is unknown. BELLE MORRISON. In an obituary notice of Mrs. Mary Priscilla Birdwell it was made to appear that Mrs. Bettye Baugh was the only surviving child. In addition to Mrs. Baugh the following children survive: Newton Birdwell of Holliday; Cade Birdwell of Archer county, and Florence Birdwell of Mission, Texas. All were at their mother's bedside when the death summons came except Florence.
