All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ******************************************************************************** REACHES HOME BEFORE DEATH Electra Citizen Brought From Hospital Upon Dying Request ELECTRA, July 29 - D.T. Porter, age 53, was brought from the Baylor sanitarium in Dallas on the early morning train, Thursday and died a short time afterwards, he being taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bob Byrne of 208 East Magnolia avenue. Mr. Porter had been in a critcal condition in the sanitarium for the past two months, and was being brought back to this city, upon a "dying request" to be brought home. Mr. Porter is survived by his wife and five children, three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Bob Byrne of Electra, Mrs. John L. Jones and Miss Dola Porter of Vernon. Messrs. Homer Porter and W.E. Porter of Vernon. The deceased was born in Double Springs, Missouri, in 1873, but came to Texas in 1886 settling in Coryell county, but moved the family to Electra in 1916, where they have made their home since. He was an active member of the First Baptist church, and also had membership in the Odd Fellows and Woodman lodges. He was splendid citizen belonging to the civic organizations of the city, and had a host of friends in both Electra and Vernon. Funeral arrangements have not not been completed, but the members of the Odd Fellows lodge will in all possibility be pallbearers at the funeral and burial will be in Electra on Friday. All children will be present for the funeral.
