"Former Wichita Falls Oil Operator Found Dead In Hotel Room. His two daughters, MRS. WENDALL PICKINS of Cleburne, and MRS. DON DONALD of Houston were to arrive here Saturday or Sunday, in time for funeral services. <..omitted..> Mr. ADAMS had been operating in the East Texas field for several years. He came to Wichita Falls 31 years ago from East Texas and engaged in the insurance business but soon became attracted by important oil discoveries in Electra in 1913 and became one of the district's largest independant operators. His most successful operations was in the Clara district in the Ramming and other pools of that section. He was head of the Adams Oil company, the I-Tex Oil company, and the McBam and other producing companies that operated at Burkburnett and in the Wichita Falls area. <..omitted..> He was born in Bosque county, the son of J.W. and MATILDA E. ADAMS, both pioneer Texans. A graduate of Southwestern university at Georgetown in 1898, he practiced law in Bosque county courts until he came here in 1911. ... Board of stewards of the First Methodist church. He was director of the local chamber of commerce and was one of the organizers of the Wichita club and the Wichita Falls Golf and Country club. His body will be buried beside the grave of his first wife."
