The community evolved in the 1880s and became a gathering place for farmers and ranchers. A post office was estabilished in 1889 with George W. McCollum as postmaster whish was disconyinued and moved to Pinta in 1894. About 1893 a schoo; was started. It served the area until it was consolidated with the Grapevine school in 1932. Early settlers of Mack includes the Boyle, Reed, Schaub and Ferebee families. Noth8ing remained of the commumity bt the 1980s except the cemetery just east of the highway near what is now known as Turkey Creek. To reach the cemetery go south on U.S. 183/283 from Vernon about 18 miles. One crosses Paradise Creek just south of Vernon. Just past Zacaweista, the headquarters of the Waggoner ranch, one crosses Beaver Creek. Continuing on south Turkey Creek is next. Just south of the bridge is Diving Board Rd.
