JAMES M. JOHNSON, Air Corps officer stationed at Victory Field near Vernon, was notified by the War Department of his promotion to the rank of first lieutenant. The promotion is effective Nov. 1. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Second Lieut. PORTER W. GIFFORD, JR., son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Gifford, 3708 Maplewood Drive, has been called up for active duty and has reported to his post at Duncan Field, San Antonio. Lieutenant Gifford attended Highland Park High School and was graduated from Cornell University in June. He also attended New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, N. M. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Corporal JACKIE COX of Dallas has been transferred from the Air Corps Gunnery School at Las Vegas, Nev. to the Spartan School of Aeronautics at Muskogee, Okla. Cox has a commercial pilot's license. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Staff Sergeant FRED W.RICHARDSON Another change at the gunnery school is the promotion of Staff Sergeant FRED W.RICHARDSON, also of Dallas to first sergeant.
