The Rev. Joe Motsenbocker officiated. Dumas died Feb. 2, 2000, in Decatur. Born Nov. 13, 1902, in Willow Point, Dumas owned and operated Cheves Grocery Store in Bridgeport from 1939 to 1944. She moved to Fort Worth and returned to Bridgeport in 1987. She was a member of the South Fort Worth Baptist Church. Dumas was a Bible scholar and enjoyed crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.R. Dumas, in 1964. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Norris and Joyce Cheves of Bridgeport; a daughter and son-in-law, Donilla and John Q. Cox of Chico; a sister, Vera Lummas of Dallas; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
