The Rev. Lewis Coomer officiated and burial followed at Boyd Cemetery. Rotton died Jan. 29, 2000, in Decatur. Born Jan. 8, 1942, in Fort Worth, Rotton married Gayle Washburn on Aug. 7, 1965, in Fort Worth. He had lived in Newark since 1968 and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at General Dynamics in Quality Control until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his father, Augusta B. Rotton. Survivors include his wife, Gayle of Newark; his mother and step-father, Alice and John Thompson of Newark; a son, Stephen Rotton of Keller; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Dion Wilcox of Newark; three brothers, Jerry Thompson of Shreveport, La., John Marvin Thompson III and Kenny Thompson, both of Newark; and a sister, Joyce Potter of Haltom City. Pallbearers were Devin Farris, Kevin Farris, Kenny Thompson and Chris Thompson.
