                   Marvin Mercer
                     1930-2000

Service for Marvin Mercer, 69, of Chico, was March 7, at Hawkins Funeral
Chapel in Bridgeport. Ben Lisby presided. Burial followed in Crafton 
Cemetery. Mercer died March 5, 2000, at his home.

He was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Crowell.
Mercer was a long-time resident of Chico. He was a retired owner and 
operator of Mercer Leathershop. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. 
He married Jo (Stockard) Mercer on May 6, 1967, in Marietta, Okla. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Esta Mercer, a 
stepdaughter, Kay Loftis and a grandson, Timmy Cobb.

Mercer is survived by his wife, Jo of Chico; two sons, Jimmy Mercer and
his wife, Tina and Juan Mercer; three daughters, Becky Watkins and her 
husband Mike, Marsha Cantrell and her husband Rocky, and Marla Torres;
a stepson, Ronny Blocker; a stepdaughter, Linda Barnett and her husband
Bill; a brother, Bill Mercer; a sister, Ruth Cannon; 12 grandchildren; 
11 great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
