'Jimmy' Stutt was Friday, Sept. 29, at the Cates Street Church of Christ in Brideport. Roger Rhodes and Bud Hales officiated. Burial followed at the Paradise Cemetery. Stutt died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, in Decatur. Born Oct. 14, 1921, in Paradise, he married Doris Imogene Dewbre on Nov. 25, 1950, in Bridgeport. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in Normandy and central Europe and earned the European-African-Middle Eastern ribbon with one bronze star and one silver star, the good conduct medal and three overseas bars. He was a retired aircraft mechanic for Bell Helicopter and Lockheed. He was a member of the Cates Street Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Charles and Elizabeth Ramsdale Stutt and two brothers, Terrell Howard Stutt and Joseph Elvin Stutt. Pallbearers were Bob Hudson, Nick Hudson, Greg Vandiver, Phil Vandiver, Ricky Stutt, Byron Stutt and Larry Vandiver. Honorary pallbearers were Wilbert Stutt and Foy Brown. Billy Wayne Murray, 66, of Henrietta, was to be Friday, Sept. 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Henrietta. The Revs. Gene Gordan and Jim Rowland were to officiate. Murray died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, in Henrietta. Born July 10, 1934, in Dallas, he graduated from Arlington State University and Southern Methodist University. He also attended Perkins School of Theology. He married Sue Cocanougher on Aug. 21, 1960, in Decatur. He was a pastor in many First United Methodist Churches in the North Texas Conference including Wichita Falls, Henrietta, Justin, Bridgeport and Dallas. He also taught English and history in the Bowie Independent School District for 15 years. He was also Bowie’s head tennis coach and took several students to state. He served as a short-term missionary in the Philippines for 10 years. His last appointment was as pastor of the First Christian Church in Bowie. He is survived by his wife, Sue Murray of Henrietta; two daughters, Diane and husband Greg Borgman of Henrietta and Carol and husband Larry Kramer of Bedford; his mother, Hortense Salvador of Henrietta; four grandchildren, Adam and Adrienne Borgman and Christian and Caitlin Kramer. Born March 5, 1919, in Marshall to James Edward and Janie Everitt McClendon, she graduated from Marshall High School where she was the salutatorian of her class. Bruton died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in Dallas. Born Aug. 27, 1940, in Haskell, to Ben and Margaret Bruton, he grew up in Weinert. He was a graduate of North Texas State University and taught school in the Dallas area. He was an active member of the White Rock Rotary Club and worked extensively with the Decatur Rotary Club. He was responsible for the organization and funding of the Bachman Recreational Center’s annual chili cookoff that benefits the handicapped and mentally retarded. He was a musician. He was a co-owner of Medical Electronics in Dallas. He is survived by his twin brother, Elwood 'Drue' Bruton; his nephews, Brandon and Blake Bruton; and one cousin Nancy Jane Deaton Mares. Born Oct. 20, 1907 in Bellevue, she married J.B. Bullard Jr. on Feb. 13, 1954, in Sweetwater. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was a retired school teacher and a longtime resident of Newport before she moved to Bowie 16 years ago. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bowie. She was also a member of the Bowie Memorial Hospital Auxillary and a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Decatur Chapter 543, for which she served as organist. She was also a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association. She attended Texas Tech University and Texas Woman’s College and earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She taught in public schools in Clay, Montague and Wise counties until her retirement in 1968. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Hobart Bullard of Bowie; two nieces, Helen Bullard of Bellevue and Carole Greer of Mesquite; three nephews, Bill Cooper of Del Rio, David Jones of Arcadia and John E. The Rev. Bill Dye officiated. Markham died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Weatherford. Born March 7, 1917, in Booneshill, Tenn., he married Elizabeth Crandall on Dec. 24, 1945, in Denton. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a prisoner of war for three years and received a Silver Star for saving the life of a fellow Marine. He was a private contractor in the rock hauling industry. She was a homemaker and owner of the Stockton Cafe in Alvord for several years. She married the late Richard L. Stockton Sept. 2, 1920, then to the late John F. Mosley on June 13, 1966. She was a Sunday School teacher and member of the First Baptist Church in Alvord. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Lee Armstrong of Wichita Falls and Jarrett Armstrong of Keller; a granddaughter, Robin Kuntz of Houston; and a brother, Royce Able of Fort Worth.
