The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. *********************************************************************** William 'Bill' Boyd Slagle 1918-2000 Service for William "Bill" Boyd Slagle, 81, of Bridgeport, was Thursday, Feb. 17, at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport. The Rev. Roy Faubion officiated. Burial followed at the East Bridgeport Cemetery. Slagle died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, in Fort Worth. Born Sept. 7, 1918, in Springtown, he was a lifetime resident of Bridgeport. He was a retired butcher and owned Finer Food Market of Bridgeport in the 1950s and 60s. He was also the owner of Trailwind Motel in Bridgeport in the 1980s. He married Mary Nell Hunter on Oct. 11, 1941, in Bridgeport. She preceded him in death on July 29, 1991. He was also preceded in death by his son, William Marshall Slagle; a sister, Hattie Coffee and two brothers, Claude and Virgil Slagle. He is survived by his daughter, Berta Brown Morris and husband Calvin of Sanger; a sister, Marie Kennedy of Bridgeport; a daughter-in-law, Donnie Slagle Floyd of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Cindy Staley and husband Danny of Slidell, Brenda Miller and husband Guy of Greenwood, Robert Brown and wife Pebble of Paradise, Jaimie Lanier and husband John of Decatur, Shirley Hoofard of Gainesville, Wayne Brown and wife Sarah of Louisiana and Kim Earwood and husband Kevin of Denton and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Gaylord Kennedy, Dawayne Kennedy, Jim Bost, Randy Kleam, Travis Provence, Alfred Brown, William Lee Slagle and Von Lawson. ------------------
