The Rev. Johnny Irish was to officiate and burial was to follow at the East Bridgeport Cemetery. Wharton died March 15, 2000, in Decatur. Born Aug. 20, 1912, in Anadarko, Okla., Wharton lived in Bridgeport since 1947. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Wharton Dairy, which he owned and operated. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport and married Blanche Stack Wharton on Dec. 30, 1931, in Hollis, Okla. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Wharton; two daughters, Suzanne Whitson and Linda Jones and her husband Greg; a brother, Murle Wharton; a sister, Nona Moore; four grandchildren, Connie, Debra, Tammy and Doug; and three great-grandchildren, Josh, Bryan and Lauren. Pallbearers were to be Donald Wharton, Ronnie Pewitt, C.T. Pitts, Curt Williamson, Bob Manning and Bryan Wayne. Honorary pallbearers were to be William McDaniel and Jerry Stinnett. ----------
