Arthur Fred Renfro 1925-2003 The Rev. Arthur Fred Renfro, 78, died Monday, April 7, 2003, in Decatur. He was a retired minister in the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church and a former minister of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Memorial service was to be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Born March 3, 1925, Renfro, was a native of Riesel, Texas and served in the United States Navy in the North Atlantic in World War II. He received bachelors and masters degrees in agriculture and school administration from Texas A&M University at Commerce. After teaching school for nine years, he entered the Perkins School of Theology at SMU. After graduation he was ordained a deacon and elder in the United Methodist Church. In addition to his service in Decatur, his full-time ministerial appointments were at Wesley Memorial UMC in McKinney; Lakewood UMC, Dallas; Spring Valley UMC, Dallas and First UMC in Grand Prairie where he retired in 1992 after 32 years in the ministry. He continued to serve as a retired minister at First UMC in Richardson for another 10 years. He is survived by his wife Virginia Mason Renfro of Decatur; two sons, Fred Renfro and wife Cheryl of Decatur and Chris Renfro of Richardson; four grandchildren, Zack, Micah, Joseph and Jenna Renfro and sister Louise Loyd of Georgetown; three nephews and four nieces. Thursday, April 10, 2003 Mary Evelyn Laminack Eison 1936-2003 Service for Mary Evelyn Laminack Eison, 66, of Runaway Bay was Tuesday, April 8, at the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. Dr. Charles Holland officiated. Burial followed at Eternal Oaks Cemetery in Runaway Bay. Eison died Saturday, April 5, 2003, in Bridgeport. Born May 27, 1936, in Gorman, she had lived in the Runaway Bay community for 34 years. She was the retired vice president of Taylor Exploration and a former municipal judge for Runaway Bay. She married Jack Eison on March 12, 1955, in Gorman. She was a member of the Runaway Bay Community Church where she was active in the choir. She was also a member of the Bridgeport Civic Club, Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a former member of the Eternal Oaks Cemetery Board and former regional director of the Desk and Derrick Club. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Lori Eison Dodd and husband Robbie of Gorman; a son, Ronnie Eison and wife Ann of Decatur; eight grandchildren; a sister, Glenda Burger of Eastland; two brothers, Don Laminack of Gorman and Vance Laminack of Keller and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Richard Hartman, Ronnie Powell, Bill Henze, Rollins Bilby, Gordon Taylor and Leon Farmer. Thursday, April 10, 2003 Lloyd Emerson Holland 1914-2003 Graveside service for Lloyd Emerson Holland, 88, of Boyd was to be Wednesday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m. at Keeter Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Richardson was to officiate. Holland died Sunday, April 6, 2003, in Boyd. Born Oct. 9, 1914, in Pottsboro, he graduated from Denison High School and attended Poly Tech in Los Angeles, Calif. In 1942, while working for General Motors in Los Angeles, he entered the military service and became a member of the Fifth Armored Division serving in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He served in seven campaigns, receiving several medals including five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He married the former Jonivee Bynum on Nov. 7, 1945, in San Antonio. The couple moved to Tulia in 1959 where they managed Gusler Products for more than 20 years. He served as a Boy Scout leader for many years and was the troop's liason for the Kiwanis Club. The couple operated Swisher Ambulance Service in Tulia until their retirement in 1988. They moved to Boyd in 1994. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Boyd. He is survived by two sons, Charles E. Holland and wife Debbie of Hutto and Billy Holland and wife Melinda of Quanah; one daughter, D'Ann Johnson and husband Mark of Boyd; three granddaughters, Crimson Dawnivee Jimenez and husband Matt of Austin, Kristen Holland of Hutto and Rachel Holland of Quanah; three grandsons, Jonathan Johnson of Boyd, Kyle Johnson of Austin and Nathan Holland of Quanah; one great-granddaughter, Maya Jimenez of Austin; one brother, Frank Holland of Salem, Ore.; one sister, Marjorie Heironimus of Trinity and several nieces and nephews. Born Aug. 8, 1904, in Rhome, Ferguson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur. She married Herbert N. Ferguson Nov. 15, 1929, in Decatur. He preceded her in death in 1966. O'Dell died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in Dallas. Born March 6, 1923, in Wise County to K.H. and Edith O'Dell, he served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy during World War II and retired as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Bridgeport. O'Dell was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Don O'Dell, brother Billy Ray O'Dell and his parents. Petty, 88, of Alvord died Tuesday, April 2, 2003, in Decatur. A memorial service will be scheduled. Born Oct. 6, 1914, in Hillsboro, Mo., Petty was a retired nurse. She attended nursing school at All-Saints Hospital in Fort Worth where she later worked for 17 years as a licensed vocational nurse. She married David S. Petty in 1972 in Azle and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Alvord. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara King of Alvord, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cole and Chester Cullum officiating. Burial was to be at Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo. Born Feb. 6, 1916, in Kosciusko, Miss., to Mack and Myrtle Thweatt, he died April 10, 2003, at a Nocona hospital. Born Nov. 7, 1917, in Justin to John and Jessie Pennington, she died March 29, 2003, in Ft. Worth. She married Arlis Haun May 13, 1939. They made their home in Rhome for almost 50 years prior to moving to Weatherford in 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rhome, lifetime member of the Rhome Women's Club and charter member of the Fairview Community Club. She is survived by her husband, Arlis Haun; daughter and son-in-law Dixie and Kenneth Henson; grandson and wife, Danny and Kalynne Henson; great-grandsons, Kale and Keaton Henson, all of Weatherford; and a brother, Hugh Pennington of Burleson. Thursday, May 1, 2003 Freida Brumbalow 1932-2003 Funeral for Freida Brumbalow, 71, of Decatur will be Thursday, May 1, at 2 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur. Bill Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation was to be Wednesday, April 30, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home. Brumbalow died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, in Fort Worth. Born Feb. 29, 1932, in Pilot Point, she was a homemaker. She married Ernest Lee Brumbalow on Sept. 16, 1950, in Fort Worth. She was a member of Hemphill Baptist Church in Fort Worth and the Decatur Garden Club. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Deborah Fry and Dorcas Thornton, both of Fort Worth; a sister, Rayline Perkins of De Soto and four grandchildren. Sunday, April 27, 2003 Clarence 'Cecil' Cox 1937-2003 Funeral service for Clarence Cox, 65, of Azle will be at 2 p.m., Monday, April 28, at Solid Rock Bible Church. Rev. Jimmy George will officiate. Burial will be at Azleland Cemetery. Born Sept. 5, 1937, in Knoxville, Tenn., to Clarence and Alva (Snyder) Cox, he died April 24, 2003, at his home in Azle. Cox was a retired forklift mechanic. He married Cynthia Hornsby July 10, 1964, in Atlanta, Ga., and had been a member of the Azle community for 31 years. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Robert "Bob" Cox. He is survived by his mother; his wife; three sons, David Stewart, Jimmy Cox and Doug Stewart; four daughters, Elaine Cox Gardner, Susan Morton, Cathy Richards and husband Kenneth and Rose Marie Benton; 13 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; his brother Alvin Cox; and five sisters, Peggy Pettiford, Mary Lou Newcomb, Anita Valentine, Faye Gibson and Linda McCoy. Pallbearers will be Doug Stewart, Dewayne Richards, David Richards, John Kay, Joey Kay and Charlie Hatcher.
