The church and cemetery are named in honor of Lee Freeman, pioneer in the area who is buried here. His grand-daughter, Willie Conger, who lived aross the road from the chapel is also buried here. When the cemetery was surveyed in 1970, only about one-fourth of the graves were identified with markers. The current survey was performed in 2004.
