Warren Wagon Train Massacre Graves


Buried here are the remains of seven teamsters,

Long, Nathan S.
Baxter, N.J.
Bowman, Jesse
Elliiott, James S.
Elliott, Samuel E.
Williams, James
Williams, Thomas

Teamsters were employed by Henry Warren, Government Constractor,
who were slain by Indians under Satana, Satank,and Big Tree,
Kiowa and Comanche chiefs, on May 18, 1871, while hauling
forage between Jacksboro and Fort Griffin.
