Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 at the McCaulley Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Sedberry officiating. Burial will be in McCaulley Cemetery, directed by Adams Funeral Home. Born Sep. 6, 1907, in Royston, Carra was the daughter of late Pinkney and Nora Elizabeth Smith. She married George Maberry Nov. 16, 1924, in Roby. They resided in McCaulley and had four children; Bobby, Dixie, Smitty and Betsy. She was a mother, sister, friend, hair dresser, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, a seamstress and loved playing the piano. Carra’s gentle smile, charismatic presence and enthusiastic personality were always inviting. She loved life, lived it to the fullest and was always ready for another spin on the dance floor. She amazed us with her sparkling presence which continues to sparle in heaven. Her husband, George Maberry and one son, Bobby Maberry preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Dixie and A.O. Shipman, and Betsy and H.L. Mitchell, all of Graham; one son and daughter-in-law, Smitty and Edna Maberry of Grand Prairie; daughter-in-law, Betty Maberry Dougless; eight granddaughters, Melody DeLong (and husband, Allen) of Graham, Tonya Bennitt (and husband, Ben) of Lake Way, Kimberly Dyess (and husband, Richard) of Fort Worth, Michele Grimsley (and husband, Robert) of Graham, Shandele Carpenter (and husband, Bobby) of Houston, Doris Cox (and husband, James) of Rising Star, Shala Freeman (and husband, Doyle) of Venus and Sonya Lee (and husband, Pat) of Grand Prairie; one grandson, Kenny Pace of Cleburne; and 16 great-grandchildren.
