Graveside services were held Friday, Dec.17, at Throckmorton Cemetery with the Rev. John Sanders, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Throckmorton, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Phillips was born Sept. 20, 1933, in Throckmorton to the late Tom and Ella Mae (Fletcher) Hitch. She graduated from Throckmorton High School in 1952 and worked for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper. She married James H. "Jim" Phillips Dec. 20, 1976, in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 2002. She moved to Throckmorton in 1981, and then to Olney in 2000. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elbert. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Bob, Shirley, Harold, Pete and Tommy; and two sisters, Betty Corn and Donna Carpenter. Survivors include a stepson, Tim Phillips of Mineola; a brother, Jerry Hitch of Breckenridge; four sisters, Mary Nell Rodgers of Olney, Gina Brown of Graham, and Dianna Manuel and Bessie Hitch, both of Wichita Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
