Her birth name was Mary Ann Kutch. She was the second wife of William Alexander Ribble. Located on the old road between Breckenridge and Graham An old man is buried on the Palmer Survey by the side of the old road marked by a pile of sand rock [current rocks placed there by Jack Loftin and Loftin also placed the marker by the grave with the incorrect date of his death]. In 1935, J.W. Seddon, a local authority of happenings in that vicinity in the early days told that this man had relatives living in or near Wichita Falls and other relatives in Stephens county. Once or twice a year, this man was seen by the people living in Tonk Valley, he was walking to or from his relatives. The last time he made a trip, he stopped at the South Bend store and told the Storekeeper that two drunk cowboys had roped him, drug him, kicked and beat him for no reason. He went on his way and stopped about an hour according to the sun and asked for a drink of water at the home of Enoch Price in the Tonk Valley area, not far from this location. Enoch Price asked the man to spend the night but saying he was sick, the man wanted to get to town and see a doctor. Enoch Price found the man dead two days later in a rail fence corner under an oak tree. This was the summer of 1888. Sources: J.W.
