LOIS HUNSAKER PUGMIRE / January 09, 2002
ST. CHARLES, IDAHO - Lois Vance Hunsaker Pugmire, 81, passed away Monday,
January 7, 2002, at the skilled nursing facility at Montpelier, Idaho. She was
born March 20, 1920, in Tremonton, Utah, to Henery Clifford and Helen Nadine
Allen Vance. She married Oscar LaVan Hunsaker on November 25, 1939. She was
later divorced and married Fayon Pugmire on January 26, 1963. He passed away
on September 24, 1986.
She was the daughter of a farmer and during her youth lived south of Tremonton
on the Iowa String and graduated from Bear River High School. She was the
fourth child of six, having three brothers and two sisters. Most of her life
she was a housewife raising her children. After her children were raised she
worked as a hostess for Utah State University in Logan. She was an active
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked in the
Primary, Mutual, Visiting Teaching, stake dance director, and ward librarian.
She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, some civic clubs, and
loved doing handwork and temple work.
Lois is survived by four children: Gary (Barbara) Hunsaker of Provo, Utah;
Gaylene (Wayne) Keetch of St. Charles, Idaho; Pamela (Robert) Peterson of
Bluffdale, Utah; Van (Connie) Bourne of Fielding, Utah; Wilma (Mirl) Andersen
of Tudumne, Calif; one brother, Lowell (AdaJean) Vance of Tremonton, Utah. She
was preceded in death by a son Denise, both her husbands, two brothers, and
her parents.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 12 in the St. Charles LDS Chapel.
Interment in the St. Charles Cemetery.

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Kate Elizabeth Duke, 21-month-old daughter of Dr.
Kevin and Shanna Duke, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2002, following a short
illness.
Kate is deeply loved and is sorely missed by her parents; her maternal
grandparents, Waldo and Lynette Jensen, North Ogden; paternal grandparents,
Robert and Joanne Duke, Perry, Utah;
maternal great-grandmother, Bessie Jensen; paternal great-grandmother,
Juanita Duke, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 14th at 10 a.m. at Lindquist's
North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Interment, Logan City
Cemetery.

EVELYN L. BROWN / January 09, 2002
BRIGHAM CITY Evelyn Lona Lingmann Brown, 75, returned to her Father-In-Heaven
on January 12, 2002.
She was born on January 21, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Ernst
Gustav and Martha Johanna Hill Lingmann.
Evelyn married Wallace Kay Brown on July 20, 1944, in the Logan Temple.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she
held positions in all the organizations through out her life.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace; daughter,
Annette; son, Allen; brothers, George and Hans Lingmann.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Brown, Brigham City, UT; Maria
(Robert) Morby of Blue Springs, MO; Sharon Brown Coombs, daughter-in-law,
Logan, UT; Karen (Richard) Eversull of Nibley, UT; Stephen (Suzanne) Brown of
Roy, UT; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Kathe
Ramey, ID; Judy Snow, ID; Edith Jones, CA; Raymond Lingmann, Hoytsville, UT;
Orson Lingmann, Upton, UT; Arlene Kippen, Morgan, UT; Delores Carlow, Norman
Lingmann, Anita Lancaster, and Rhea Beckstead, all of Salt Lake City, UT.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at the
Brigham City 19th Ward Chapel, 105 West Fishburn, Dr.
Friends may call on Thursday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S.
100 E. Brigham City and on Friday, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in the Smithfield Cemetery in Smithfield, UT.

CHARLES E. PETZOLD / January 16, 2002
REHOBOTH, RI - Charles E. Petzold, 63, a retired journeyman electrician died
Wednesday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, RI. He was the
former husband of Catherine A. (Mowry) Petzold of Wrentham, MA. Born in
Central Falls, RI on March 15, 1938, he was a son of the late Albert C. and
Eleanor M. (Sisson) Petzold.
Charles had resided in Rehoboth for the past 11 years, previously residing in
North Attleboro for one year and Perry, Utah, for 10 years. He was a
self-employed journeyman electrician until retiring due to illness in 1998.
He was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, Seekonk; member of the
Attleboro Ski Club; a motorcycle enthusiast; an avid hunter, and a former
member of the Attleboro Rod & Gun Club. Besides his former wife he leaves two
daughters, Lori A. Wortham of Blackstone, MA and Tara L. Price of North
Attleboro, MA; one son, Bill E. Wortham of Attleboro; one brother, Paul W.
Petzold of Seekonk, MA; two sisters, Ellen A. Leland of Seekonk and Lois M.
Beck of Punta Gorda, FL; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews and his
companion, Alice MacKenzie of Holliston, MA.
The funeral service was held Tuesday in he Memorial Baptist Church, Seekonk.
Burial followed in the family lot at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Rehoboth.

Eva J. Lehnhof / January 16, 2002
LOMA LINDA, CA - Eva Lillywhite Lehnhof of Loma Linda died Monday, January 21,
2002, of natural causes incident to age. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah,
on March 8, 1919, to William and Eva Lillywhite.
Eva spent her childhood in Salt Lake City. She married Ernest Lehnhof on
October 12, 1943, during WW II. Their marriage was later solemnized in the
Salt Lake Temple. Eva and Ernie moved to Southern California where they raised
their family. Eva was a homemaker and preschool director. She was a member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many
capacities.
Survivors include three sons: Hal (Kay) Lehnhof, Don (Susan) Lehnhof, Larry
(Monica) Lehnhof; daughter Margaret (Alon) Lewis; daughter-in-law Gladys
Lehnhof; 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her husband Ernest and her son Steven (Gladys) Lehnhof.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26 at noon, at
Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South in Brigham City. Interment
will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
MYRTLE "MYRT" SORENSEN MORTENSEN / January 23, 2002
Tremonton - Myrtle "Myrt" Sorensen Mortensen, 94, of Tremonton, died Thursday,
January 17, 2002 at the Brigham City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Myrtle
was born on July 4, 1907 in Hyrum, UT, the daughter of Julius and Caroline
Christensen Sorensen. She married Elmer Knud Mortensen on September 22, 1936
in Brigham City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Myrtle was reared and educated in Hyrum, UT. She had a green thumb and a love
for gardening; her yard was always lovely. She loved people and never knew a
stranger. Myrtle was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints and fulfilled many church callings.
She is Survived by a son - Kay (Gloria) Mortensen of Carlsbad, CA; and a
daughter - Sharon (Gary) Elliott of Bear River City, UT; 4 grandchildren, 7
great grandchildren, and one sister, Opal Chugg of Providence, UT.
Her husband Elmer, two sisters, three brothers, and four half brothers and
sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2002 at
Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East - Tremonton. Friends may call
from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Monday at Rogers & Taylor Funeral
Home.
Interment will be in the Bear River City Cemetery.

SAM DOKOS / January 23, 2002
WILLARD-Sam Dokos, 73, passed away Friday, January 18, 2002, after a long
illness. He was born February 15, 1928 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Spiros
and Elva Christofferson Dokos. They later moved to Ogden when Sam was three
years old. He attended Ogden City Schools and Weber State College.
Sam was known throughout his younger years for his athletic ability.
He married Rhea Woodyatt in 1948. They had three children and resided in
Willard, Utah for the rest of his life. He was a member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Sam loved the town of Willard and served a term as a councilman on the
planning commission. He also served on the Board of Adjustors for several
years. Sam enjoyed coaching little league and pony league baseball. He worked
for the State of Utah Dept. of Highways as a road engineer for 38 years before
retiring. During retirement he and Rhea enjoyed traveling. They resided in
Lake Havasu City, AZ during the winter months until Sam's illness prevented
them from returning. His favorite hobby was fishing. He loved sporting events.
Sam was proud of his accomplishments and loved working in his yard.
He was a wonderful family man. He was very patriotic and loved his country.
Sam is survived by his wife, Rhea Woodyatt Dokos, Willard, two sons; Chris
Robin (Susan) Dokos, Willard; Steven Sam (Christine) Dokos, Honeyville; a
daughter; Susan Dokos Cole, Scandia, Pa; four grandchildren; James Robert
Dokos, Scandia, PA; Samantha, Tamara, Amanda Dokos all of Honeyville, a
brother; Jim Dokos, CA; two sisters, Mary Dokos Dixon, Bountiful, UT, and
JoAnn Dokos Butler, Salt Lake City, UT.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willis.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 21, 2002 at 12 Noon at Myers
Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah.
Friends may call Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 11:00 to
11:40 a.m. at the Mortuary.
Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.

THORA HULETA BURWELL / January 23, 2002
BRIGHAM CITY Thora Huleta Burwell, 75 PASSED WAY Monday, January 21, 2002 at
Brigham Nursing and Rehab Center.
Huleta was born on December 13, 1926 in Peterson, Utah a daughter of Harry
Victor and Thora Hulet Wood.
On August 20, 1945 she married Charles Brooks, They were later divorced.
On December 26, 1953 she married Fredrick Dallas Burwell. Their marriage was
solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 27, 1963.
Huleta was a member of the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
Brigham City 4th Ward.
Huleta loved reading, camping and the Utah Jazz.
Surviving are her four daughters and one son: Ann (Dale) Willie, Shippensburg,
PA; Howard Burwell, Blackfoot, ID; Kathy (Rob) Stone, Jannetta (Randy)
Spencer, Della Burwell, all of Brigham City, UT, three stepchildren; Joe
Burwell, Elva Hall, Connie Allred, 14 grandchildren; 10 step-grand-children,
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, her very special friend;
Madaline Lamb, one special Uncle; Howard Hulet, and one brother; LaVarr Wood.
Huleta has two grandsons serving on LDS Missions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Karen
Burwell, sister, and brother.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers
Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT.
Friends may call Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30
a.m. at the Mortuary.

CECIL CLAIR ROUSH / January 30, 2002
Brigham City Cecil Clair Roush, 93, passed away on Thursday, January 24,
2002 at Brigham City Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Cecil was born on May 5, 1908 in Carroll County, Iowa, a son of George William
& Galena Workman Roush. He moved to Esmond, South Dakota in 1909 with his
family. Cecil married Mary Jane Rowen on February 28, 1939 in Manchester,
South Dakota. They lived near Esmond when they were first married, they then
moved to Watertown, South Dakota in 1948. Cecil retired from Dandar Electric
Motor Repair in Watertown. Cecil and Jane moved to Brigham City in 1978.
In spite of a physical disability he remained active and productive throughout
his life and was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Surviving are four children, Waneta Alice (Benny) Yancey, Perry, Utah; Elaine
(Robert) Boone, Lincoln, Nebraska; Helen (Robert) Manka, Fremont, Nebraska;
Allen (Joanne) Roush, Kelly, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren
and one brother-in-law, Albert (Vivian) Rowen, DeSmet, South Dakota; 10 nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, two sons and one daughter.
Funeral service will be on Monday, January 28, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
MAYDEAN PAUL NELSON / January 30, 2002
Brigham City Maydean Paul Nelson, 74, passed away on Wednesday, January 23,
2002 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 9, 1928 in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Frank O. and
Virgnia R. Shoup Paul. Maydean resided in her youth in the summers at Driggs,
Idaho and the winters in St. Paul, Minnesota. She graduated from Marshall High
School and had attended 2 1/2 years at Weber College.
Maydean married Raymond Brinkmen on December 23, 1947 and later divorced in
1956. She then married the love of her life, Darven Nelson on January 10, 1958
in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death in May 1985.
She was a LPN and had worked at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Cooley
Hospital, and Director of Hospice and was a Vista Care giver.
Surviving are her six children, Virginia "Ginny" Taylor; Bonnie (Dave)
Bissegger; Pat (Steve) Landon; Paula (Kurt) Herbert; Karen (Kelly) Tincher;
Carl (Gail) Nelson; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Heritage Hospice, Gene and Deej for their
loving care.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2002 at 11:00 am at the
Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah.
Family will greet friends on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and then on
Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the mortuary.
Interment will be in the Penrose-Thatcher Cemetery.

OLIVE H. KOTTER / January 30, 2002
BRIGHAM CITY Olive Hale Kotter, 88, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2002 at
Peach Tree Assisted Living in Brigham City, Utah.
She was born April 5, 1913 in Groveland, Idaho to Jonathan and Mary Moss Hale
a member of a family of eleven.
Olive attended grade school and high school in Blackfoot, Idaho and then
college in Pocatello, Idaho and Utah State University. She received her
Masters Degree in Home Economics at Iowa State University.
Olive worked for Box Elder County Home Extension Services and also as
secretary at the USO. She taught Home Economics at the Intermountain Indian
School and for the boys and girls at Box Elder High School. She also taught
Kindergarten at Corrine and Bunderson Elementary Schools. She served as a
Relief Society President in the 4th Ward and also taught in all of the church
organizations.
Olive married William J. Kotter September 29, 1939 in the Logan temple. She
helped raise his four children and two foster children whom she loved dearly
and they loved and respected her in return. She and her husband, served as
Stake Missionaries in the Box Elder Stake and the Box Elder Tabernacle in
Brigham City. They then served as full time missionaries in the Central
British Mission, after which they served as officiators in the Logan, Ogden
and New Zealand Temples. They felt serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints and setting good examples for their posterity were their
greatest accomplishments.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William J. in 1995 and
his first wife, Almannie, in 1936, daughter, Willa Mae in 1946 at age 15.
Their surviving children and spouses are Alene M. (Dean) Howarth, Brigham
City; Jay W. (Donna) Kotter, Brigham City; and Robert H. (Mary Jean) Kotter of
Nampa, Idaho. Her Posterity includes 17 grandchildren, one deceased; 52
great-grandchildren, five deceased; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She is
also survived in death by one brother Ezra Hale, Blackfoot, Idaho, one sister
Pearl Walker, Lyman, Wyoming and many nieces and nephews.
She loved the gospel and working in the temples of the Lord; she was an avid
reader and scriptorium. Her children loved her for her devotion to the gospel,
to them and to their father. Her favorite pastimes were reading, gardening and
needlework.
We would especially like to thank Catarina and the Peach Tree Staff for the
loving care they gave our mother and family. We also express our love to the
members of the Harper Ward for all their compassion to Mother.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 28, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers
Mortuary. 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT.
Friends may call Sunday from 6: 00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 to
10:45 a.m. at the Mortuary.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.

EDITH S. COOKE / January 30, 2002
Brigham City Edith Vera Stokes Cooke, 87, returned to her Heavenly Father on
Saturday, January 26, 2002, surrounded by her family who love her and will
miss her very much.
She was born November 24, 1914 in Lewiston, Utah, a daughter of David Heber
and Lena Eveline Carter Stokes.
Edith married Fawson P. Cooke on November 24, 1932 in Brigham City and their
marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
She was a member of the Brigham City 9th LDS Ward, where she had served 10
years in the nursery and several other callings in the church. She loved
working with and being around children, especially her grandchildren. Edith
enjoyed working in her yard and caring for her roses. When Edith was younger
she loved to go hiking with her sisters and laughing and having fun.
Surviving are her daughter, Sherril Horne, Brigham City; one son, Mikel Cooke,
California; one sister, Berneice Christensen, Perry; three grandchildren;
Jackie (Michael) Anderson, Corinne; Cindy (Kevin) Iverson, Clearfield; Scott
(Sally) Horne, Idaho; nine great grandchildren and two great great
grandchildren.
Her husband, Fawson, two brothers, Bill and Harvey and her sister, Eveline,
preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be on Friday, February 1, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday
from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
KENNETH E. BUNCH / January 30, 2002
BRIGHAM CITY- Kenneth E. Bunch, 86, of Brigham City, died
Jan. 25, 2002 at Brigham Nursing & Rehabilitation. Kenneth was born June 22,
1915 in Milan, MO., son of Lawrence O. and Maggie C. Troxell Bunch. He was
married to Ruth Marion Frecker on May 1, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Kenneth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints and gave many years to Family Research and Temple work. He also served
24 years at HAFB in civil service. He is survived by one son, Michael Bunch of
Carrollton, TX, one daughter, Tamara Wilks, (son-in-law Richard) of Brigham
City, UT. , and five grandchildren. Also surviving is his second wife, Emma S.
Bunch of West Valley City, UT, two stepdaughters, Carol Broadbent of Evanston,
WY., Mary Edwards, Cedar Rapids, IA, one step-son, Steven Smith of West Valley
City, UT, and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His first wife and sweetheart, Ruth whom he has now been reunited with after
34 years, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Mon., Jan. 28, 2002 and
10-10:30 a.m. Tues. morning at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden,
UT. Graveside services and interment will be Tues, Jan. 29, 2002 at 11 a.m. at
Ogden City Cemetery.

BRENDA L. ANDERSON / January 30, 2002
Perry Brenda L. Anderson, 40, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, January
26, 2002 at her home in Perry, Utah.
Brenda was born on February 18, 1961 in Brigham City, Utah, to Roland C. and
Frances Mae Lund Laney. She grew up in Brigham and attended local schools.
During a Good News Club meeting, she accepted the Lord as her Savior. Brenda
married Steven W. Anderson on October 15, 1981, and they resided in the
Brigham City area until their move to Perry in 2001.
Brenda had worked at Thiokol before going to Walmart Distribution Center in
Corinne where she was a computer network engineer and she also enjoyed her
part-time job at the Eagle Family Meadows in Huntsville, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Mae Laney, and is survived by
her husband, Steven; a daughter, Linda; sons, William, Damin, and Casey all of
Perry; her father and step mother, Roland and Wanda Laney; four sisters,
Helen, Doreen, Janice and Sandra; nieces, Becky Laney and Carolyn Peck; and
nephew, Richard Laney.
Also surviving are her in-laws, Jess and LaDean Henry; sisters-in-law, Becky
(David) Sangberg; Julie Anderson; brothers-in law, Clair Anderson; Douglas
(Pat) Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the
Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the
