Hunsaker Carrol W. Hunsaker passed away on Monday, December 1, 2003, after a long and lingering illness. She was born on the 18th of December, 1934, at Welland, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of George and Gladys Ball Wickenden. She married Les Hunsaker on the 18th of June 1965 in the Logan Temple. She loved her family, nature, oil painting and teaching in various church positions. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling many callings including, Relief Society President. She worked in the banking profession until her retirement from the Box Elder Credit Union. She is survived by her husband; five children: Stephen Stricker, Tracy Stricker, Tamre (Victor) Jones, Matthew L. Hunsaker, Twyla H. Anderson, Three grandchildren, one great grandchild. She is also survived by four sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, at the Honeyville LDS Church. A viewing will be held at Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, in Brigham City on Friday, December 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Prior to the funeral service, a viewing will be held at the LDS Church in Honeyville from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Burial will be at the Honeyville Cemetery. Also thanks to the Hyrum Fifth Ward Relief Society and Priesthood leaders. Billie K. Draper SALT LAKE CITY/PROMONTORY - Billie K. Draper, 71, passed away in his sleep at the L.D.S. Hospital on November 27, 2003, after a long illness. He was born on February 21, 1932, to Howard J. and Gladys Draper in Mt. Pleasant, UT. He married Sandra Kaye Hitchcock on January 30, 1960 in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on February 15, 1974. He served in the Korean War. He worked at the Lake Crystal Salt Plant for 13 years and Thiokol for 18 years. They didn't have any children but many wonderful nephews and nieces. He enjoyed fishing and square dancing. He won lots of blue ribbons for his art work and handwork. He is survived by his wife; sisters: Carolyn (Bill) Bolton, Atholeen (Loyd) Larsen, Loise (Mike) Isaksson, June Butcher; sister-in-law, Sheila Taylor and brother-in-law, Michael Hitchcock. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother, and mother and father-in-law. Funeral services will be held on December 4, at 2 p.m at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. The family would like to say thanks to L.D.S. Hospital and their doctors and staff who helped take care of him. Claire E. Dix Claire E. Dix passed away on November 26, 2003, at her home in Willard. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl O. Dix; devoted mother of Deborah (Cole) Vicars, John, Robert and Ray Dix, Teresa Ryckman and Mickey Nelson. Services were held on Tuesday, December 2, in Baltimore, MD. Interment was in the Glen Haven Memorial Park. Local arrangement were made by Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel. Fay Grover Wight SANTA ANA, CA - Fay Grover Wight, 95 years , born February 23, 1908 in Fielding, Utah and resided in Box Elder County for many years, until she moved and resided in Santa Ana, CA., for 24 years. She was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. Fay's life long motto has been "Charity never faileth". She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Wight Faught; two sons, Carlyle Grover Wight and Jack Grover Wight and one sister, Joyce Grover Smith. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Ted Valentine BRIGHAM CITY Ted Valentine went to the arms of his Heavenly Father on December 9, 2003, surrounded by this loving family. He was born November 28, 1920, a son of James Peter and Sarah Dorthea Woodland Valentine. He is survived by his sweetheart Donna Richardson whom he married in the Salt Lake Temple June 26, 1942; sons: Edgar Ted (Cindy Wight) Valentine, Richard Kent (Sandy Turrentine) Valentine, Jeffery Lynn Valentine, Mark Dee (deceased), Kelvin Lee (Barbie Ballard) Valentine, Steven R. (Paulette Beatty) Valentine, Thetis (Dan) Hunsaker, Donna (Henry Lewis) Kuglar; 38 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; two brothers; Don and Earl Valentine. He served stake missions and a mission with his wife to New Guinea. He was a veteran of WWII, an eagle scout and a high priest in the Brigham Twenty-Fourth Ward. Sports was a love of his life and he enjoyed excellence as a youth and later loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in many different competitions. Ramona was an active member of St. Henry's Catholic Church in Brigham City. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, spending time with her children and grandchildren, crocheting, gardening and traveling. Surviving are her husband, Eusebio G. Quintero; nine children: Juana M. Quintero, Robert (Paula) Quintero, Eusebio Jr. (Josee) Quintero, Maria Guadalupe (Epi Jr.) Solis, Veronica (Carlos) Hurtado, Luis (Alicia) Quintero, Reyna (Derrick) Baca, Leticia Quintero, Juan P. You may email your condolences to the family at www.gilliespetersen.com Ivan Sylvester Peterson Together Again BRIGHAM CITY - On a peaceful Saturday evening just five days shy of his 93rd birthday, surrounded by his large, loving family, a golden heart stopped beating. Ivan S. Peterson was born December 11, 1910, in Redmond, Utah, and passed away on December 6, 2003, in Brigham City, Utah. He married the love of his life Doris M. Neville on June 14, 1939, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They raised seven children, including two sets of twin daughters. Doris preceded him in death on September 29, 1986. Ivan married Ruth M. Peterson on July 3, 1988. She also preceded him in death on September 5, 2001. Dad was a large, gentle man with a heart of gold. He quit school in his junior year to help support his mother and siblings after his father lost his sight and later died. When his father-in-law passed away, Ivan took his mother-in-law into his home and cared for her until her death 33 years later. Ivan worked hard his entire life, digging ditches, picking fruit, and working his way through Weber College night classes to become a welder. He retired from Thiokol Corporation on January 1, 1976. Dad always felt his greatest joy was the life he built with his beloved wife Doris and his seven children. He enjoyed being in the kitchen, always fixing Sunday dinner for his family. He made wonderful cinnamon rolls, delicious pies, and the world's best fried chicken. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, all of his brothers and sisters, both wives, and one daughter, Marolyn. He is survived by his children: Ivan M. (Kay) Peterson, Brigham City; George A. (Gloria) Peterson, Roy; Connie (Stephen) Schultz, Clinton; Marlene (Lyle) Erickson, Brigham City; Arlene (Stan) Stoner, Brigham City; and Carolyn (Jeff) Douglas, Pleasant View; Kirt Wilkinson, Clearfield. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Holmgren BEAR RIVER CITY - John P. Holmgren, 70, passed away Monday, December 8, 2003, after a brief illness. John was born March 12, 1933, in Tremonton, Utah. He was the son of LeRoy P. and Gladys Nyman Holmgren. John was sealed to Janice Hansen in the Logan LDS Temple on November 7, 1952. He was a lifetime resident of Bear River City. John was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Bishopric, on the High Council, and as Bishop of the Bear River Ward. John was a dedicated home teacher with a special partner. He served in many church callings with a dedication towards Scouting and received a Silver Beaver award in 1983. John was a farmer and co-owner of Brigham Implement until he retired and dedicated his time and energy to public service. He served as the President of the South Box Elder County Farm Bureau, on the Bear River City Council, Box Elder County Commission, and in the Utah State Senate. During the 14 years that he served as a Senator, he was Chairman of the Health and Human Services Appropriations Committee for eight years and Chairman of the Transportation and Public Safety Appropriations Committee for six years. He was also Senate Rules Chairman and a Charter Member of the Governor's Health Policy Commission. He was a member of the State Board of Water Resources for 8 years and is known statewide for his efforts in water conservation and development. John has served on many other community and university boards and committees. He retired from the legislature December 31, 1998, and was recognized as the National Republican Legislator of the Year. Surviving are his wife, Janice, and children: Denise (Paul) Longhurst, Mendon; Candace (Jim) Daly, Centerville; Chris (Yvonne) Holmgren, St. George; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, LeRoy Del (Phyllis), and Nyman (Melanie); sisters, Beth (Denzil) Ballard, and Carol Penevich. Goldie was born in Minersville, Utah, on August 11, 1925, a son of Golden Walker and Marguerite Gray Eyre. He served in WWII in the Navy and received the Victory award. Goldie married his sweetheart, Jean Eldridge, October 7, 1946, in Poiche, NV. She passed away on October 4, 1987, just before their 40th wedding anniversary. He later married Barbara Tucker in Ogden, UT. The circles of his life have always been large and full of love. After his service in the Navy, he worked as a Conductor and Brakeman for the UP/SP Railroad for 44 years. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. Goldie was a friend to everyone he ever met. His family was his life and he will be greatly missed. We are comforted in the belief he is with his sweet wife and daughter once again. Goldie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Barker BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving wife, mother and step mother, and grandmother, Jean S. Barker, 74, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at Pioneer Care Center. Jean had lived well with metastatic breast cancer to the spine and bones for over four years. She was born on May 5, 1929, in Anaconda, Montana, a daughter of William and Anne May Staker Searcy. Jean married Brian G. Utley in 1955, in Ogden, Utah. They were later divorced. Jean married Bobby Dean Barker on January 22,1977, in Ogden LDS Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jean served as Relief Society President, organist, as well as other church positions, and she generously donated time as head of the Soup Kitchen in Brigham City. Jean had worked at Hill Air Force Base, IRS and Weber State University. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and organ, quilting, knitting and crocheting and she shared those talents with others. Surviving are her husband, Bobby of Brigham City; three daughters: Dianna Simpson, Ogden; Clair (Dennis) Brown, Roy; Corinne (Jerry) Ortega, Mission, Texas; one step son, Darryl (Sherrie) Barker, Perry; two step daughters, Karen (Larry) Peterson, Arvada, Colorado; Mary (Gordon) Peck, Clinton; 26 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Searcy, one sister, Karen Maw, both of Plain City. He was born October 31, 1953, in Logan, to Geraldine Mohr and Val Allsop. He was preceded in death by his mother and his father. He married Jane Siggard on January 12, 1979, and they were later divorced. He is survived by five children: Alison Kesler, Hyrum; Jake Allsop, Lana Ranjel, Issac Allsop and Alex Allsop, all of Brigham City. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Peyton and Brooklyn Kesler, Tony and Khiara Arellano, Kenyon and Jaxten Ranjel. Steven spent his youth and most of his adult life in Logan, until he moved in 1992 to Brigham City where he has resided ever since. He worked for Logan School District and was also self employed and later when moving to Brigham he worked for Box Elder School District as head custodian at McKinnley Elementary in Tremonton until his illness forced him to retire. When his health was good he enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and his many friends at coffee. We are indeed thankful for his good friend, Bert Olsen, for all the help and friendship he gave Steve over the years, especially during his illness. Delpha Bird Parker Zobell BRIGHAM CITY - Delpha Bird Parker Zobell, 66, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2003, of complications due to kidney failure. She was born December 30, 1936, in Wellsville, Utah, daughter of Farrell and Sarah Parker. Delpha grew up in Wellsville, attended South Cache High School. Later she attended Henagar School of Business, graduating in 1957. She held secretary jobs in San Francisco and at Thiokol. In 1960, she married James Zobell in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Logan, then moved to Brigham City. She is survived by her husband, James; sons, Phillip, Marshall (Jeannette), and David; grandchildren, Brad and Ben; sisters: Cleo Barns, Colleen Hardman, Irma Janes, and brother Farrell Parker. Delpha loved her sons and grandchildren. The grandkids were a special joy to her. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary and Relief Society presidencies. Delpha was a day-care provider for 30 years. She tended children in her home. She loved this. The children and their parents liked her, the children saying they were happy coming to Delpha's. The family would like to thank Drs. Jesse Ronald Rock BRIGHAM CITY Jesse Ronald Rock (Ronnie), 71, died peacefully at home after a valiant battle with lung disease on Saturday, December 13, 2003. Jesse was born on December 6, 1932, in Brigham City, Utah, to Jesse and Grace Forsgren Rock. He married Patricia Jones on November 20, 1952, and together they had five children. They were later divorced. He then married Marva Bingham Fackrell on July 1, 1978. He was a devoted, loving father and husband. Jesse was a heavy equipment and batch plant operator for Parson Ready Mix for 33 years. He had a lifelong passion for racing pigeons and was an avid member of the Golden Spike Pigeon Club. He won champion loft and hundreds of pigeon races over the years and this year with the help of family and friends: Ned Beasley, Blake Fackrell, Bobbie and Codie Christopher. Jesse loved the outdoors. He was an avid gardener and loved fishing, hunting, camping and spending time on the range. Jesse had a great sense of humor and had a wonderful way of telling stories. He had a beautiful voice and was known for his singing and his football athleticism during high school as a star fullback for Box Elder High School. He was very athletic and loved downhill skiing in his younger years and spent many hours as a Little League football coach. He was also a very enthusiastic Jazz fan. He is survived by his wife Marva; two daughters and three sons: Becky Jeppesen, South Ogden; Lisa Rock Taylor, Ogden; Jesse R. Rock Jr. (Danae), Logan; Jon Rock, M.D., Lawton, Oklahoma; and Steve Rock, Clinton; four step children: Linda (Bill) Owen, Salt Lake City; Dan Fackrell, Salt Lake City; Kirk Fackrell, Portland, OR; Blake Fackrell, Brigham City; eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Kathleen McAfee, Dallas, TX; and brother Jim Forsgren, Mantua. She was born October 4, 1920, in Afton, Wyoming, a daughter of Clarence and Fanny Pearl Barlow Holbrook. She married Byron Dixon Roberts in Blackfoot, Idaho, and they had three children. She later married Vern Norman Campbell. Marise was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had worked at the Naval Base, the Ogden Arsenal, W.T. Grants, and retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1971. Marise was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #9. She enjoyed fishing, loved dancing, and Utah Jazz Basketball games. Surviving are two sons and one daughter: Thomas (Sally) Roberts, Ogden; Carl (Dodie) Roberts, Layton; Cathy (Ronald) Baugh, Brigham City; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was born September 10, 1916, in Kaysville, Utah, to Clouide and Kitty Flem MacNeil. She married Marvin LaVerle Ray in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 27, 1936. He preceded her in death. Florence served as Bingham Women's Civic Club President. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her activities included Primary and Sunday School Teacher, Relief Society Secretary, visiting teacher and counselor, and compassionate service leader. Mom was a neat lady who loved her family and desired for them to always be happy. She loved the outdoors and was a wonderful quilter. Survivors are her children: Russell J. Lorene Romney Mason Lorene Romney Mason passed away peacefully, in the home where she was born, in Salt Lake City on December 11, 2003. Lorene was born May 1, 1908, to Sarah Lydia Bitner and William Stevenson Romney. She attended Lowell School, LDS High School and the University of Utah where she was a charter member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. Following graduation Lorene taught in the Salt Lake School District for six years at the Longfellow, Lowell and Columbus schools. On June 24, 1936, Lorene married George Morgan Mason in Salt Lake City and moved to San Francisco where her husband practiced law and their son George was born. After San Francisco they moved to Ogden and then settled in Brigham City where children Marilyn, John and Margaret were born. In Brigham City, Lorene was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Civic Club and PTA. Once her children were raised she fulfilled a lifetime dream to work in a library by becoming an assistant librarian at the Carnegie Library in Brigham City for nineteen years. Following retirement she earned her real estate license and worked with her son George in his real estate business. Lorene's last years were spent in Salt Lake City where she could be close to her family and enjoy her friends in the Culture Lure Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, George M. Mason II; brothers: Elmer S. Romney, Wendell B. Romney and William S. Romney, Jr.; sisters, Jean Romney Stone, Lillian Romney and Dorothy Romney. Sid Cook OGDEN On December 13, 2003, Sid Cook passed peacefully from this life and into the next. He was born on February 11, 1926, to Merlin and Hilda Jane Woodyatt Cook in Willard, UT. He received his education in the Willard school and Box Elder High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 7, 1946, he married his childhood sweetheart and true love, Joyce Nicholas. Together they lived in Ogden, UT, for 57 years where he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He served in the bishopric of the Ogden 56th Ward, along with many other callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He dedicated 27 years of his life to the Scouting program. Many of his most precious memories, and closest friends, were made exploring the outdoors and molding the lives of young men. He will be remembered for his intense patriotism, his love of animals and nature, his gentle demeanor, and the way he showed his love for you by the way he held his eyes. His devotion to his wife was resolute until the very end; she was his life. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his "lovely girls", Sidney Joyce (Ric) Stevenson, Susan Jane (Doug) Stoddard; his grandchildren: Jill, Jonathan, Patrick, Jane, Brooks, Erin, and Bryce; his five great grandchildren, and his adoring dog, Shortstuff. Nelson, 86, of Bear River City, returned to her Heavenly Father, on December 13, 2003, following a brief illness, at Brigham City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on September 3, 1917, the daughter of William Lester and Jennie LaVon Malmrose Barker. She married Raymond Nels Nelson on December 17, 1942 in Brigham City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on August 5, 1954. Raymond died on January 26, 1993. She worked for several years in the school lunch program. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life. She served in the presidency of the Primary and Relief Society and was a teacher in the Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society and served as a visiting teacher and an active member of the D.U.P. With her husband she served as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple for 10 1/2 years. Her greatest treasures were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. LaVon was a very kind, loving and gentle lady, who was dearly loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her children: Richard E. (Joy) Nelson, DeeAnn (Don) Christensen, Gary R. Nelson, Dennis B. Bettejane passed away December 18, 2003, at Golden Age Guest Home of natural causes. She was 83 years old. Bettejane was born February 14, 1920, in Des Moines, Iowa, to John and Miriam Davis. In 1947 she married Elmer White and they resided in Ogden, Utah, Elmer preceded her in death in 1972. In 1985 Bettejane married Vincent Chiodo and resided in Ogden, Utah, until his death in 1998. Upon the death of her husband Bettejane moved to Elko, Nev., where she resided until the time of her death. Bettejane was an accomplished pianist traveling with Arthur Godfrey and his band during the late 1940's and early 1950's. Bettejane later enjoyed a fulfilling career as a worldwide court reporter for the U.S. Air Force. After being stationed at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, BJ transferred overseas and was stationed in Germany, being able to travel the world for her work. After retiring from the Air Force Bettejane formed her own band and enjoyed her piano for several years. Bettejane is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Cindy White, of Elko, Nevada; granddaughter, Gabrielle White of Elko, Nevada; sister and brother-in-law, Alyce and Dick Bollinger, of Nordland, Wash.; brother-in-law, William Cobb, of Coupeville, Wash, and several nieces and nephews. JOHNSON PERRY Melvin James Johnson, 70, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2003 in Perry, Utah. Melvin was born on September 13, 1933 in Moore, Idaho, a son of Webster James and Hortense Ellenor Pate Johnson. He married LaDene Jensen on August 29, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had served as Bishop, Counselor in the Bishopric, High Counselor, Sunday School President, Stake Young Men's President and devoted Home Teacher. Melvin served two missions with his eternal companion, LaDene. The first was to Scotland and the second to South Carolina. Melvin has been a Project Engineer for the Department of Defense. He was also one of the original founders for the Westmark Credit Union in Idaho Falls, Idaho. WRIGHT On December 19, 2003, Marvin Scott Wright passed peacefully from this life into the next. He was born December 29, 1909 in Lincoln, Idaho, son of Julia E. Luby and Scott B. Wright. He married Merle Sackett on March 21, 1952 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, and they made their home in Brigham City. Marvin served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints: the first in New Zealand, and later with his wife in Billings, Montana on the Crow Indian Reservation. He was a temple worker in the Ogden Temple and also served as bishop in the Brigham City 5th Ward. Marvin enjoyed gardening, fishing, and church service. He is survived by his wife, Merle, five children; Susan Wright, Becky Budge, Julie Smith, Sheila Benson, and Garth (Herk) Wright; a brother, Lawrence Wright; a sister, Virginia Singleton; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was born October 13, 1906, in Gunlock, UT, to William Edward and Emma Iverson Bunker. She moved to Delta in 1907 where her father built the first brick home there. She graduated from Delta High School and later attended both Henagers and LDS Business College, living in the Beehive House while it was a boarding house for young ladies. She married Ervin Miller Peterson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple January 9, 1927. He died in May 1993. Grace was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in several auxiliaries of the church as well as on a Stake Mission. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Grace was an extraordinarily ordinary woman who wore herself out in service to her family and we celebrate her long, productive life. She will be greatly missed by her family. The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Care Center and Utah Heritage Hospice for their sweet and loving care. Chugg BRIGHAM CITY Dean Frederick Chugg, passed away Monday, December 29, 2003. Dean was born February 2, 1918, in Providence, Utah, son of William and Lillie Chugg. He gradated from South Cache High School in Hyrum. Dean married Colleen Benson on June 30, 1949. He was reared in Providence, Utah. Dean farmed the family farm in Pocatello Valley. He worked in Twin Falls at Amalgamated Sugar Company, in the chemistry lab and seed department. Dean worked for LaGrande Johnson Construction in Logan, Fife Construction Company in Brigham City, Cooks Garage and Brigham Power Plant. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union. Dean was a member of the Brigham City Tenth Ward. He was a wonderful father and husband. Dean provided a nice life for us and we will miss him. He is survived by his wife of Brigham, his four children: Tamra (Guy) Atkinson, Ogden, Scott (Jennifer) Chugg, Des Moines, Iowa, Kent (Michelle) Chugg, Salt Lake City, Lynn Chugg, Brigham City; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was born on January 22, 1909, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Fredrick Hust and Alice Brain Hust Anderson. He was a stepson of Nels Anderson of Bothwell, Uath. He graduated from Bear River High School and the University of Utah. He married Lettie Rose Lee of Brigham City on June 1, 1938, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He taught typewriting, German, Spanish and radio electronics at Box Elder High School for over 40 years until his retirement in 1973. He also owned a television repair business in Brigham City, and he enjoyed performing at fairs and rodeos with his trained dogs. A man with a wide variety of skills and interests, he took up violin making the age of 79 and became quite proficient at this, even inventing a device used in making violin bows. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a variety of callings in the Brigham City First Ward. He is survived by his wife, Rose; five children: Jean Hust, Salt Lake City; Ken Hust, Salt Lake City; Stephen Hust (Irmi), Vienna, Austria; Dianne Hust McCullock (Robert), American Fork; David Hust, Salt Lake City; a brother, Nicholas Wayne Anderson, Tremonton; a sister, Shirley Jones, Clinton. Boothe, died Friday, December 19, 2003, at home in Brigham City of causes incident to health and age. She was born December 12, 1922, in Bear River City, Utah, to Paul Alvin Jensen and Winifred (Winnie) Priscilla Jensen. She married Lewis LaLand Boothe in 1939 and they were later divorced. She is survived by a son. L. Larry Boothe (Sharon D.), two daughters, VaLaun T. Schoens (Adrian), Cherie B. Mangum, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister (Phyllis), a brother (Paul), and a grandson. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in the past served in various positions at the ward and stake level. VaLoy was a strong willed woman whose zest for education dominated her life. She was a graduate of Utah State University where she received a bachelor and masters degree in English. She taught English for several years at Weber High School and Weber State College. She was active in PTA during the years her children were in school and was president of the PTA for Box Elder High School for one term. She was active in politics, civic affairs and served a term as Co-Chairman of the State Democratic Party and was a delegate to the 1968 National Convention. She also served in several appointed positions at the state and local level of government. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 30, in the Forest Hills Chapel, Brigham City.
