FLINDERS BRIGHAM CITY ú Lois Jane Petersen Flinders, 89, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at her home in Brigham City, Utah. Lois was born February 25, 1913 in Malta, Idaho to Albert J. Petersen and Laura Hitt Petersen. She married Willard Manning Flinders on May 24, 1935 in Ogden, Utah. Lois was active in several bridge groups in Brigham City, which she loved. Mother and homemaker, she had three sons that survived her; Willard Jay, Robert Bruce, both of Flagstaff, Arizona and Charles Allen Flinders of Brigham City. Also surviving her are six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Winnifred Arabide of Las Vegas. The family would like to thank Utah Heritage Hospice whose service and care could not be measured. Services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City. Send condolences to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com Edward Arthur 'Ed' Givens Edward Arthur Givens, 70, of Gold Beach, OR, died December 30 in Gold Beach of natural causes. Ed was born September 11, 1932 in Wausau, Wisconsin, a son of Arthur and Maybell (Kolisinski) Givens. He was raised and educated in Wausau, and graduated from Wausau High School. In 1953, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, and served in Korea. Following his honorable discharge in 1955, he served eight years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Following his active duty service, Ed was employed in New Mexico by AT&T. He later moved to Linwood, California. He met JoDeane Feinauer, and they made their home in Brigham City, Utah. The couple opened a craft and hobby store, "The Party Shop" which they operated until 1967. Ed also worked for the Clearfield Freeport Center, where he silkscreened maps for the U.S. Navy. He retired due to ill health in the mid-1970's. While living in Brigham City, he was a member of the Jaycees and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. In 1983, following a divorce, Ed moved to Brookings, OR. In 1985, he moved to Gold Beach, and had resided there since that time. He loved living in Gold Beach, and considered it the perfect spot to spend his retirement. He was an avid fisherman, and while in Utah, had enjoyed waterfowl hunting. Ed also collected coins and stamps. Ed was a honest and personable man who made friends easily. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Rosie Gritzmacher. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Richard Nimori of Corinne, Utah and Jody and Tom Daughter of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Kristy Givens of Corinne, Utah; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Pam Kolisinski of Wausau, Wisconsin; a brother-in-law, Don Gritzmacher, also of Wausau, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one nephew and one niece. No services are planned. GRACE T. DAVIS BRIGHAM CITY - Grace Thompson Davis, age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2003 of causes due to age. Grace was born February 26, 1906 to Albert H. and Amy Packer Thompson in Richmond, Utah. Her mother died while she was very young and she was blessed with a special Stepmother, Minnie Jane Thompson. She graduated from Brigham Young College in Logan and studied at Idaho Normal School in Pocatello, Idaho. She began her teaching career in Salmon and Thatcher, Idaho. She attended USAC in Logan where she was a charter member of Chi Omega Sorority. She then taught school at Whitney, Idaho for two years. Grace married Lloyd N. Davis on July 24, 1930; they lived on the family ranch in Promontory, Utah for ten years. After moving to Brigham City, she was a substitute teacher and was active in the local and county PTA and served as PTA State Regional Director for Cache, Rich, and Box Elder County. She returned to college and earned B.A. Degree in Education. Also degrees in Library Science and Learning Disabilities. She retired from the Box Elder School District. Grace was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a national honorary teachers sorority. She was active in civic affairs, having served seven years on the Brigham City Zoning Committee and as President of Civic Improvement Club of which she was a member for over sixty years. She had been a captain of her Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Camp. Grace was a wonderful mother. She was a good housekeeper and served gracious family dinners. She loved her roses and cared for her yard until recent years. Grace was active in the LDS Church. She had served as a primary inservice leader, compassionate service leader and visiting teacher and was a guide at the Tabernacle for three years. She is survived by her son, Tom A. (Pearl Ann) Davis, Bear River City and a daughter, DeeAnn (Gene) Ogle, Corinne; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, Garr Thompson, Portland, OR; Sid Thompson, Soda Springs, ID. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City. Viewing will be held on Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Peach Tree Assisted Living Center for the loving and compassionate care they gave to our mother. VIOLA K. HANSEN BRIGHAM CITY - Viola Clayton Klippert Hansen passed away on Sunday, 5 January 2003 in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on 19 March 1908 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, a daughter of William F. Klippert and Martha Ivanilla Clayton. Viola married Clarence Levon Hansen on 16 March 1927 in the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death in Nov. 1989. She was a member of the Brigham City 3rd and 15th Wards. Where she had served in the Relief Society and as YWMIA secretary. She loved to do handiwork, sewing, crocheting, woodworking, and painting. She was a volunteer art instructor for Brigham City Community Center. She was a winner of many 1st place and other awards at Peach Days Art Festival and 3 ribbons from the Utah State Fair. She received the Emma K Packer Art award presented on Peach Days by Packer family. Viola exhibited in local banks, library, nursing homes, and ZCMI Ogden. She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. She received Yard of Month from the Kiwanis Club. Surviving are three children, Gloria (Robert E.) Jensen, Colleen (Jack) Bradford, Dale F. (Mae) Hansen all of Brigham City; one daughter-in-law, Joy Fisher Hansen, American Fork; two half brothers, Vern and Myrl Klippert both of Preston, Idaho; 23 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Clarence Blaine Hansen. REEDER WILLARD ú Spencer Ross Reeder, 79, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and neighbor, passed away Friday, January 3, 2003 at the Brigham City Community Hospital. He was born on August 25, 1923 in Brigham City, Utah a son of Joseph Martin and Lula B. Reeder. Spencer married Verna Mable Todd on May 2, 1945 in Salt Lake Temple, Utah; she passed away on June 28, 1990. He married LuDene Anderson Young on December 7, 1991 in Willard, Utah. A lifelong farmer and gardener, Spencer also worked at Hill Air Force Base for more than thirty years. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the Willard 4th Ward having served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints including membership in the Bishopric and Stake High Council. Along with his wife and companion, Verna he served a Mission in Mesa, Arizona. Spence was a member of the Utah Sons of Pioneers and a long time supporter of Scouting having received the District Award of Merit. His neighbors and friends have been the beneficiary of thousands of acts of quiet kindness and selfless service performed by this gentle man. Surviving are his wife, sweetheart, and dancing partner, LuDene Reeder, Willard, Dean T. (Linda) Reeder, SLC, Steven T. (Dona) Reeder, Logan, Clark T. (Becky) Reeder, Kearns, Ross, T. (Ann) Reeder, Brigham, Julene Reeder, Murray, four stepchildren, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, one brother; Karl Reeder. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Verna. He was born September 30, 1950 in Salt Lake City, UT a son of F. Wayne and Rhea Lou Olsen, Wilcox. Larry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was involved in scouting. Surviving are his father and second mother; Wayne (Iva Beth Tanner) Wilcox, Brigham, two sisters; Marjorie Lou (Douglas) Graham, Ogden, Becky Layne (William) Larsen, Salt Lake City, two brothers; Roger Dean (Cindy) Tanner, Tremonton, Kent Brian (Cindy) Tanner, Brigham. CRIDDLE BRIGHAM CITY/ SALMON/ SALT LAKE- Thomas Y. Criddle, 87, passed away January 8, 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born March 22, 1915 in Downey, Idaho the first child of Lorin and Mabel Van Leuven Criddle. He attended the Downey Elementary and High School. He grew up doing the usual farm chores, milking cows, feeding livestock, harvesting hay and grain, and caring for the vegetable gardens. On January 5, 1934, he married Gayle Varell Thompson. T.Y. worked as a vehicle mechanic in Pocatello, J.D. Morgan s Garage & Car Dealership, & J.M. Hyde s Garage & Car Dealership in Downey. Later he leased and ran the Hyde Repair Garage by himself. He and his father were partners on a sheep herd, after the sheep were sold; cattle were bought and shared the range east of Downey. He bought the Welding and Repair Shop in Downey and ran it until 1954. Then they moved to Salmon, ID. They owned and operated the Drive in Motel, Caf‚, and Trailer Court for 21 years. Then they returned to Pocatello. After returning to Pocatello he worked at Cal Ranch Store. He also worked at Propane Gas Bulk Distributorship when he was diagnosed as having Parkinson s disease. He was creative in making and repairing all sorts of Farm, Yard and House items. He loved to read about a variety of subjects. T.Y. enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing trips. He even went moose hunting in Canada one year. Church activities were a very important part of his life where he held many positions through his lifetime. In July of 2000 he sold his home and began living with his loving children. He is survived by his children; Monte (Caroline) Criddle, Nancy (Larry) Daniels, Bonnie (Bill) Stricklan, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, sisters; Vera Evans and Lula Elber. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Gayle, son; Kenneth Lamar, grandson; Blaine Mont and brothers; Howard and Jesse. Moffitt Jones, 83, returned to her Heavenly Father on January 14, 2003. She was born July 19, 1919 in Bountiful, Utah to Bry Honri and Jennie Turner Burningham. She married L. Jack Moffitt on July 1, 1938 and they were later divorced. She married Stanley S. Jones on March 8, 1986 in Wellsville, Utah and were later solemnized in the Logan Temple. She was raised in Bountiful and graduated from Davis High School. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She was a temple worker and a volunteer at Sunshine Terrace. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and traveling. She is survived by her husband, Stan, sons, Hal ((Elaine), North Logan; Bert (Cheryl), Brigham City; Jim (Sharon), Perry, Utah; and daughters, Vickie (Richard) Mauchley and Holly (life s partner Robert Heideman) Dahle, all of Brigham City, Utah. 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Stepchildren, Mary Jane (Kay) Reese, Centerville, Utah; Glenda (Lowell) Heaton, Gilbert, Arizona. 9 stepgrandchildren and 22 step great grandchildren, One sister, Jetta White, Bountiful, Utah. Interment Wellsville Cemetery. ISAAC SANCHEZ BRIGHAM CIT- Isaac Sanchez, 76, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2003 in the presence of his family. He was born on August 30, 1926 Gallina, New Mexico, a son of Miguel and Elena Chavez Sanchez. Isaac married Antonia Chavez on November 12, 1981 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He had a great love for the outdoors, where he worked as a sheepherder. Where he enjoyed spending a lot of time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Antonia of Brigham City; seven children, Viola Kocher; Stella Vanderpool and Rita Eagle all of Woodland, CA; Justo Morfin of Brigham City; Jesse Morfin of Meridian, Idaho; Isaac Sanchez, Jr. of Tremonton.; Amanda Sanchez of Meridian, Idaho; 13 grandchildren Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers all of New Mexico. Romaine Elsie Dial Jensen Bear River City: Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Romaine Elsie Dial Jensen, 78, returned home to our loving Heavenly Father surrounded by her family on January 18, 2003, at the Pioneer Care Center. She was born December 31, 1924, in Willard, Utah, the daughter of Joseph S. and Elizabeth Jane Dial. She married Stanley Duane Jensen on October 5, 1945, in Brigham City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on October 5, 1951. She was reared and educated in Willard and after her marriage made her home in Bear River City. She worked as a legal secretary. She loved working in her garden, was very creative in all she did, and was an excellent cook, especially known for her pies. She was a member of the Bear River 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had served as a visiting teacher, homemaking leader, librarian, Young Women s President and many other callings. She is survived by her husband, Stan of Bear River City; children, Sandra Blank, Salt Lake City; Robert (Denice), Jeff( Diane), Todd (Michelle), all of Elwood; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Jimmy-deceased) Vreeken, Salt Lake City; Nellie (Leonard) Hill, Roy. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Russell and Glen; a sister Muriel Collier. VERNON C. SPENCER BRIGHAM CITY   Vernon Cecil Spencer, 71, passed away Monday, January 20, 2003. He was born April 11, 1931 in Garland, Utah a son of Cecil and Helena Trease Spencer. Vernon served his country in the Marine Corps in 1951. He married Shirley Iona Taylor on May 25, 1952 in Oakley, Cassia, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple. Vernon retired from Hill Air Force Base with thirty-six years of service. He has worked many jobs in his life, Bushnell Hospital Bowling Alley, Perry Cannery, Smith Cannery and Freeze Plant and Ogden Arsonal. He was very active in the Scouting program receiving the Scouters Key, Award of Merit, Silver Beaver Award and was a Scout Master for nearly 20 years. He loved the great out doors especially camping, hunting and fishing. Vernon treated family like friends and friends like family. Vernon is survived by his wife Shirley, children: Kelly (Kathy) Spencer, Randall (Jannetta) Spencer, Patty (Jose) Ortiz, Dallen Spencer, Cory Spencer, Lanae (Steven) Bird, 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brothers; Donald W. Spencer and Larry Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Thelma Romer, two sons: Roger, Jarren and daughter-in-law Debra. Clara was born July 14, 1913 in Blackfoot Idaho a daughter of Parley G. and Lavina Parker Clark. Clara married Paul Evans Neeley on July 14, 1932 in the Logan Temple. She served in the Relief Society and Young Women, later serving with Paul on a mission to Fulton, Kentucky. She was a true mother in every sense of the word, loving, guiding, protecting and providing a home of love and values not only taught but also lived. She had a great talent as a seamstress; many young brides have worn wedding dresses made by her, while others enjoyed her innumerable dresses, quilts and dolls. Her hands were always busy, tatting or embroidering. Surviving are her children; Norma (Clyde) Price, Brigham City, UT, Kennith (Kay) Neeley, West Valley, UT, LaRee (Darwin) Allen, Tremonton, UT, Wayne (MayLynne) Neeley, Bountiful, UT, 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; brothers: Lynn, Glen, Dyle and Newell Clark. Someone that made you start to think things differently and see them in a whole new way? Maybe you only knew them for a short while but it seemed like you had know them your whole life. Someone who never said a word yet in her own way wrote novels. An Angel in every aspect of the word. A princess in her own kingdom. That was CERA KAYLEE APODACA. For two years and ten months and two days, she inspired those around her. A miracle that was given no chance of survival turned the odds in her favor and outlasted any expectations. Inspiring us with her will power and determination a fighter till the end. Cera may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. She was and is a light that will always shine bright in our hearts. Send condolences to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com GLENN LEWIS ANDERSEN BRIGHAM CITY- Glenn Lewis Andersen, 93, died January 17, 2003 in Brigham City. Born 28 December 1909, the third of six children to Louis J. Andersen and Zina L. Jensen, he lived in Brigham City his entire life. He married his high school sweetheart Grace Edwards in 1936, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Grace died November 2001. Glenn was a Ford man, going to work for Peach Motors after graduating Box Elder High School and taking over the agency in 1943 as Andersen s Ford Inc. He won many honors from Ford Motor including the Four Letter Award and The Distinguished Achievement Award twice. He served several terms on the board of directors for the Ford Dealers Advertising Association and also as a Vice President. Know for being able to fix anything, it was jokingly said he would open the gates of heaven with a screwdriver and pliers. Glenn loved Brigham City. He joined the Brigham City Volunteer Fire department 1944 and served as chief, treasurer and historian and later provided ambulance services. He received several awards for service to the department and community. He became the eldest member of the department and was fondly referred as Pappy. He was a 1948 charter member of the Brigham City Kiwanis Club and served on the board of directors and as president. In 1954 as president, he was the first to string Christmas lights on the Brigham City Arch over Main Street which tradition continues today. He received the Kiwanis Golden Service Award in 1965. He was also a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of the BPO Elks for 56 years. In 1945 he was elected president of the Brigham City Junior Chamber of Commerce and later received the U.S. Junior Chamber s Distinguished Service award for outstanding contributions to civic betterment and letter of appreciation for his continuing support of the local program. He also served as a director and as president of the Greater Brigham City Chamber of Commerce and in 1985 was awarded an Honorary Life Membership for his contributions. He served on the Brigham City Planning Commission for 4 years and on the board of directors of the Box Elder County Bank. In 1998 Brigham City selected him for its Total Citizen Award. In recent years he and Grace donated several flagpoles to the community including the cemetery, historic train station, Eagle Mountain Golf Course, the Fire Department, Wells Fargo Bank and a church. He said Brigham City had been very good to him. He is survived by two daughters: Joanne (Thomas) Coppin, of Bountiful and Arlene Andersen, of Brigham City, and four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother: Ben Andersen of Ogden, formerly Brigham City. He was born April 15, 1918, in Albuquerque, NM, the son of Arthur Ellis Moon and Estella Blanche Son. He is survived by his wife, Irma Ruth Hargis, four children, three grandchild, and one sister. Prior to his retirement as postal clerk at Brigham City Post Office he lived in Perry. In 1982, he and his wife moved to their home in Mendon. In the many locations where he lived during his lifetime, Marvin was active in church and in community groups. His remarkable speaking voice distinguished his role performances. For over a decade, he was a supporter of Ayuda, a volunteer agency promoting health and education Cunen, El Quiche, Guatemala. Mary Daines Waite PROVIDENCE - Mary Daines Waite, 99, died January 27, 2003, at the Providence Assisted Living Center, Providence, Utah. She was born in Hyde Park, Utah, on September 4, 1903, a daughter of James Albert and Sarah Ann Trappett Daines. She attended schools in Hyde Park and Smithfield. During her teen years, she spent much time helping her mother in their general merchandise store in Hyde Park. She married Fenton Hambleton Waite on September 21, 1920. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Salt Lake, Hyde Park, Willard, and Hyrum while raising their family. Fenton, a World War I veteran, died in 1976. Mary has been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, serving in the Primary, Sunday School and Mutual organizations. Mary and Fenton enjoyed traveling, mostly to areas where they could do temple work together. She is probably best known for her beautiful custom sewing throughout the years, as well as her beautiful handmade quilts. They have been blessed with 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren. Fenton and Mary had five children, two of whom are still living: Mary Ann (Andrew Morris) Speth of Providence, and Rodney (Sharon) Waite of Napa, California. A daughter and son-in-law, James and Idalene Hansen, and two sons, Paul Waite and Kenneth Waite, are deceased. She is also survived by two daughter-in-laws, Jean Waite of Willard, Utah, and Eleanor Waite of Ogden, Utah, as well as a sister, Leora Ashbaker of Clearfield, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, Utah. Friends may call on Thursday from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery. JACK A. HARVATH Jack A. Harvath, 69, Brigham City, Utah, died of an apparent cardiac arrest on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 while visiting his daughter in Chesterfield, MO. He was born November 13, 1933 in Freeport, IL. Son of Dollie M. Hinkle of Oregon, IL and John S. Harvath, deceased. He grew up in Oregon, IL graduating from Oregon High School, and was active in athletics. He attended Utah State University, Logan, UT receiving a B.S. in Political Science and a M.S. in Physical Education, played varsity football and was Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity president. He served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Lewis, WA. He married Helen M. Daines in 1957 in the Logan, UT, LDS temple. Jack's public teaching and coaching career spanned 32 years and included Skyline and Fremont High Schools, Oakland, CA, Idaho State University, Pocatello, ID, and 27 years at Solano Community College, Suisun, CA. He taught physical education and coached football and wrestling. He was California Teachers Association President for four years and Academic Senate President for the two years before his 1994 retirement. After retiring, he and his wife taught two years at Brigham Young University, Laie, HI as Church Service Missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many church leadership positions including the Elder's Quorum President and on the High Council in the Fairfield, CA Stake. He was Family History Specialist for the Brigham City 17th Ward. He is survived by his Mother, Dollie M. Hinkle, his sister, Beverly Huston, and his brother, James Hinkle (Melody), all of Oregon, IL. He also is survived by his wife Helen, their two daughters Barbara Harvath, Chesterfield, MO., and Victoria (Kurt) Hales, Lubbock, TX, three sons Jonathan Harvath, Lava Hot Springs, ID, Daniel (Leah) Harvath, Napa, CA and David (Kate) Harvath, Vallejo, CA. and eleven grandchildren. GEORGIA SUE SWARTZ MICHAELS Georgia (Sue) Michaels, nee Swartz, 71, of Phoenix, AZ, died November 23, 2002, while visiting her daughter in Corvallis, OR. She was born in Castleton, KS and attended schools in Wichita, KS. While studying in France as a Fulbright Scholar, she met her husband, Robert J. (Bob) Michaels. They were married in 1954 at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Upon retiring from the Navy, they moved to Brigham City, where Bob taught JROTC at BEHS and Sue substitute taught. After living in Mexico several years, they settled in Phoenix, AZ and enjoyed traveling the world. Surviviors include her father, George G. Swartz of Chandler, AZ; brother W. John Swartz of Santa Fe, NM; aunt Frankie McMinimy Weibert of Wichita, KS; daughters Melinda Michaels Winograd of Corvallis, OR and Kathi Michaels Rush of Fredericksburg, Va; son Greg Michaels of Aurora, CO and six grandchildren. RARICK BRIGHAM CITY   Theresa Rarick, 65, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Brigham City Community Hospital. She was born April 18, 1937 in Pittsfield, MA a daughter of Raymond and Marie Ireland Beaulieu. Theresa gradated from Pittsfield High School. Theresa married Harold Rarick in 1971 in Louisville, KY. She loved roller skating, swimming, gardening, crafts and painting. Her greatest love was her family and especially her grandchildren. Haws Reeves, 89, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003 in Draper, Utah. She was born November 19, 1913 in Brigham City, Utah a daughter of Elijah and Aurilla Hansen Jensen. Lillis married Harold Brigham Haws on June 16, 1933 in Preston, Idaho they were later sealed in the Salt lake Temple. Brig passed away October 9, 1981. She later married Glenn Reeves in October 1983. He passed away in January 1994. Lillis was a hard worker and an amazing cook, and grew wonderful roses. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. LOSEE BRIGHAM CITY- Robert Dee Losee, age 78, passed away, Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the Brigham City Community Hospital, following a brief illness. Bob was born July 25, 1924 in Ogden, Utah the son of Ludlow H. and Stella Malan Losee. He attended elementary and high schools in Ogden. He received his BS degree from Utah State University in 1950 and received his MS degree from University of Utah in1970. Bob married Mary Adele Bingham on December 20, 1946 in the Salt Lake City Temple. He served his country in WWII in the Third Army in Europe. He also served in the Korean War as a Lt. in the US Air Force. After graduating from college Bob worked as a maintenance engineer for Peter Kewitt & Sons Construction and as an aerospace engineer for Aerojet and Convair. He retired from Thiokol in 1989 after 30 years of service. Bob was an avid motorsports fan. His favorite tracks were Indy and Daytona . He loved to build model cars and aircraft, especially those of the WWII era. He became a beautiful scroll saw artist in his later years. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a High Priest. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary, Brigham City; one son, Scott (Debbie), Mantua, UT; and his daughter Lyn, Spirit Lake, ID; 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, two sisters; Ann Schmalz, CA and Carol Ashby, Salt Lake City. Send condolences to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com AL CAZIER BRIGHAM CITY   Stephen Allen Cazier, 79, was called home by his loving Heavenly Father on January 22, 2003. He passed away at his home from a sudden heart attack. Al was born March 9, 1923 in Grace, Idaho to Stephen Alloyd Cazier and Evelyn Panter. He moved to Brigham City as a child and graduated from Box Elder High. After serving in World War II he returned home and married Doris Olsen on July 6, 1948. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on May 8, 1964. Al opened, owned and operated Al s Conoco for 45 years. Many will remember the excellent service they received there, but that was just a portion of the service he gave throughout his life. He was president of the Brigham City J.C. s and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. He was later the president of the local Lion s Club and was active in their State organization. He sponsored Little League Baseball teams and Peach Queen contestants and supported Boy Scouts of America. He served eight years as a Brigham City Councilman and then four years as Box Elder County Commissioner. He was honored as the Grand Marshall of Peach Days in1994. Al loved serving others in many additional ways including Special Olympics, Meals-on-Wheels, and the Adult Leisure Program for handicapped adults. He also enjoyed breakfast with his friends at the roundtable . Al was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, most recently as the Ward Mission Leader, a calling he particularly enjoyed. He loved helping the missionaries. Al s greatest joy is his family, and it is our honor to love him. He is survived by his wife Doris, and children, Steve and Renee Cazier, Sandy; Kathy and Doyle Kerbs, Clearfield; Jeff and Kaye Cazier, Kaysville; and J. Craig Cazier, Brigham City. He has twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Geneal Death, Brigham City; Carole Sorensen, Mantua; and Evelyn Hall, West Valley. JOHNSON Our beloved mother, Catherine Marjorie Johanson Johnson, age 77, passed away from us peacefully on January 24, 2003 in Brigham City, Utah surrounded by her family. She was born September 30, 1925 in Farr West, Utah, the fourth child of Hjalmar and Adelia Johanson. She married Willis H. Johnson on February 19, 1950 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. Catherine was reared and educated in Box Elder County. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many different positions through out the years. She worked in the food service industry serving school lunches for twenty-five years. Mom touched the lives of everyone around her, always with a kind word, a smile, or just a wave. She was very much a people person and truly treasured her friends. One of the things she enjoyed was making baby quilts for loved ones, but the greatest joy in her life was her children and her grandchildren. She was very giving, always putting others first and her acts of service were a wonderful example to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, and one son Demar, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children; Larry (Kris) Johnson, Salt Lake City; Allen (Peggy) Johnson, Willard; Joe Johnson, North Ogden; Blain (Carolee) Johnson, Clearfield; Corey (Julie) Johnson, North Ogden; Ronda (Keith) Olsen, Willard; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was born April 24, 1980, in Provo, Utah. Abby was severely disabled and some might say that her life had no purpose; yet there are many who have witnessed her reach out and influence countless people for good. Her family is honored to have known her. Abby is the third child in the Baird family, with two older sisters, Angela (Jim) Walker of Logan, Utah, and Emily (Mike) Sessions of Star, Idaho, and two younger brothers, Adam Randall Baird, Orem, Utah, and Elder Brandon Orrin Baird, Mexico Monterrey North Mission. She has one niece, Abby Emma Sessions, and one nephew, Tyler Michael Sessions, also of Star, Idaho. Abby's family wishes to extend their warmest thanks to the employees of the Connor Street Group Home in Salt Lake City, Utah, for the loving care they gave Abby all of these years.
