Carla was born in Brigham City, Utah on May 13, 1935, a daughter of Leonda and Nelda Nelson Polson. She married William Robert Zenk on December 18, 1954, in Martinez, CA. Carla and Bill owned and operated Zenk Book Store in Brigham City for many years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served as Relief Society president in Perry for eight years. Surviving are her husband, Bill, Volcano, CA; children: Stan and Luan Zenk, Placerville, CA; Robert and Susan Zenk, Liberty, MO; Jerilyn and Jim Shelton, Tooele, UT; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There will be an open house for family and friends on Thursday, June 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Boyd Hirschi residence, 2362 South 425 West, Perry, UT. He was born October 25, 1928, in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Helgar P. and Sylvia Johnson Hatch. He was a member of the Land Alliance and worked for Hoffman Company as an operating engineer for 31 years. CARLYN ANN HANSEN OGDEN Carlyn Ann Hansen, 68, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 7, 1935, to Esther and Milt Fraser in Davenport, Iowa. On September 6, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart from Ogden High School, Charles J. (Gus) Hansen. She enjoyed knitting, reading, bowling, cards, little trips to Wendover and spending time with her family. Most of all she loved her Lord. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Carlyn owned and operated a motel in Brigham City for many years, and she was an Avon Representative. She has left behind many loved ones, her husband of 50 years, two daughters Deborah Kay of Brigham City; Pam (Forrest) Stuart of Harrisville and two sons, Mitch (Linda) Hansen and Lance Hansen of Ogden; also her siblings, two sisters, Barbara Williams of Loreto, Mexico and Cathy (Ray) Miller of Nordic Valley and one brother, John (Margie) Fraser of Ogden. She is also leaving behind 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She will be reunited with her parents and a granddaughter. There will be no viewing. In celebration of Carlyn's life in Jesus, a service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ogden on June 7. The Reverend Gary Trickey officiated. SHEILA ANN HARRIMAN CARLSON LAS VEGAS Sheila Ann Harriman Carlson, 62, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 6, 1942, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, a daughter of Joseph and Norma Harriman. Sheila was raised in Davis County where she graduated from Davis High School in 1960. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Sheila retired from Hill AFB where she had worked for many years. She lived for her family and her greatest joy came from being with them. She was a very kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, R. Boyce Carlson, whom she had married and been sealed to in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; three children, Wendy Billmire of Roy, Wade (Leanne) Williams and Brent (Bethlene) Williams, both of Las Vegas, NV; two step daughters, Leisa (Gary) Bahnmiller of Layton and Carolyn (Jeff) Hollingsworth of North Ogden; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen (Hal) LaBelle of North Salt Lake, Marilyn (Morton) Phillips of Park City and Linda (Scott) Buckley of Tooele. BELEW BRIGHAM CITY - Robert Lewis Belew, 86, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Brigham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from cancer. He was born April 1, 1918, in Pendleton, Kentucky, the oldest of nine children, born to Ellick Robert and Erma Hazel Wilson Belew. Bob married Ione Jensen on September 3, 1938, in Brigham City. On June 26, 1976, he married Roma Burt Nelson in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Seattle LDS Temple on July 23, 1983. He served in the US Army during WWII receiving an honorable discharge. Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, belonging to the Brigham City Twelfth Ward, where he was a high priest. Bob worked for Brigham City Water Department as an Equipment Operator for 19 years. He then worked for Box Elder County at the Courthouse for nine years as a grounds keeper. Surviving are his wife of Brigham City; three sons and one daughter: Robert Lewis Belew, Jr., Reed M. Belew, Phillip J. Belew, Cheryl Ann Belew; two step daughters, Marjorie (Eugene) Bybee and Linda Wilson both of Everett, Washington; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Iverson of Bear River City and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His son, Gregory Blaine Belew died on February 7, 1968, in the Vietnam War. CHRISTOPHER C. JONES BRIGHAM CITY - Christopher Charles Jones, 21, was found on June 13, 2004. Chris was born on May 22, 1983, in Brigham City, Utah. He was an extremely loving person to everyone and he especially loved his family. Chris played on all-star soccer teams from Brigham City for five years. He enjoyed hip-hop and rap music and skateboarding. She was born on February 18, 1918, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Floyd Allen and Rhoda Walcie Davenport McFall. She married James Howell and they were later divorced. Irene lived most of her life in California before moving to Utah in the 70's. Surviving are two sisters and two brothers: Edna Jean (Robert) Kiniston of Sacramento, CA; Dorothy Bigonesse of Garland; Thomas (LaGaye) McFall and Glenn (Jodi) McFall both of Brigham City. Ritter, Sr. were held 2 p.m. Monday, June 14 at the First Assembly of God in Cushing, OK with Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Interment followed in the Stroud City Cemetery at Stroud, OK with Kevin Wright, Bill Hoppes, Warner Ritter, Jr., Randy Ritter, Tom Laignel and William Laignel serving as casket bearers. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Michael's Funeral Home of Drumbright, OK. Cole J. Ritter, Sr. was born in Shamrock, OK on December 3, 1925 to the late James Thompson "Thomp" Ritter and Hazel Georgia (McQuerry) Ritter. He passed from this life suddenly on June 10, 2004 at his residence in Cushing, OK at the age of 78 years, six months and eight days. Mr. Ritter was raised and educated in the Shamrock & Drumright, OK area. At t he age of 17, he joined the United States Navy and served his country during WW II. He married Mary JoAnn Wright on June 16, 1945 in Osage, OK and they raised a family of four children. In 1962 they moved to Brigham City, UT where he went to work for the Thiokol Chemical Corporation until his retirement in 1990. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and while in Utah, he and his wife pioneered the Brigham City First Assembly of God which is still going strong today with 300+ in membership in the Cushing First Assembly of God. Mr. Ritter was a devoted husband, father, grandmother, brother and uncle. He loved to go deep sea fishing, spend time with his family and reminisce about coon hunting and the "good ole days." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws: Claude and Evelyn Wright; two sons, Rodney Royce Ritter in 1968 and Michael David Ritter, Sr. in 2002; a grandson, Jason Lee Ritter in 2002 and a sister, Rowena Savage. His remaining family includes his loving wife: JoAnn Ritter of Cushing, OK; a son, C. J. Ritter, Jr. of Drumright, OK; a daughter, Colene Laignel and her husband Bill of Virginia; a brother, Warner Ritter, Sr. of Stroud, 13 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. Also numerous other relatives and loving friends. TYLER S. MUNNS BRIGHAM CITY - Tyler Steven Munns, 46, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2004, at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born on June 7, 1958, to James Austin and Barbara Marble Munns in Brigham City, Utah. Tyler was the fourth child and second son of six children. Tyler married Kellie Jean Huff on December 21, 1974. To this union they were blessed with two sons, Brandon Tyler and Shane Michael. They were later divorced. On June 20, 1981, he married Harlene Mae Hilburn. To this union they were blessed with two sons, Steven Kyle and Garrett Zane. He worked at Thiokol for 15 years in the materials department. Tyler was a kind, generous and outstanding man who would go out of his way to do anything for anybody. Dearest to Tyler's heart were his four sons, and his entire family. He yearned to spend quality time fishing, motorcycling, and camping surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed, loved and always dear to our hearts. Surviving are his four sons: Brandon, Steven and Garrett all of Roy; Shane (Kristina) of Harrisville; five grandchildren; his parents, James and Barbara Munns, Brigham City; four siblings: Barbara Suzanne (Ralph) Jones, Kearns; Terie Ann (Ron) Corbett, North Ogden; Kelly (Keri) Munns of Springville; Royce (Shanne) Munns of Brigham City. He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy James, and his grandparents, Archie and Charlotte Munns and Leslie and Iona Marble. ARZELLA VIOLET NELSON BOSLEY CORINNE - Arzella Violet Nelson Bosley, 92, died June 11, 2004, at her home in Corinne, Utah. She was born November 9, 1911, in Mantua, Utah, a daughter of Layfayette R. and Katie Jensen Nelson. She married Thomas G. Bosley on December 26, 1931, in the Logan Temple. He died November 9, 1977. Arzella was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Corinne First Ward. Arzella was very accomplished at crocheting; she made many beautiful tablecloths and bedspreads; she even crocheted her daughters' and granddaughters' clothing. When she could no longer crochet, due to arthritis, she made latch-hook rugs until her eyes gave out. She was very generous with her work, giving crochet work and rugs to friends and relatives. Surviving are one son and two daughters: Dr. Richard N. Bosley, Corinne; Julia N. Bosley, Brigham City; Roberta Hunter, Ririe, Idaho; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; brother, Dale Nelson, Orem and sister, Connie Gooch, Bountiful. ARMSTRONG BRIGHAM CITY/MANTUA Clyde Hunter Armstrong, 86, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2004, at the home of his daughter in Mantua, Utah, of cause incident to age. He was born in Cedar City, Utah, on May 25, 1918, to William Franklin and Ellen Hunter Armstrong. As a child and young man, Clyde attended school in Cedar City, Utah, and later studied construction at the Branch Agricultural College, also in Cedar City. In 1939 he was called to serve his church in the Western States Mission, which he gladly accepted and fulfilled in 1941. He also traveled throughout Europe and Africa as he served his country in World War II as a mail carrier. He helped his family on the family ranch in Enoch, Utah, until he met and married Barbara Rasmussen on August 15, 1947, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Clyde and Barbara bought a small dairy farm of their own in the late 1940s outside of Brigham City, Utah and later moved into Brigham City, where Clyde worked at FRAM Corporation, Thiokol and Box Elder High School until he retired. Clyde was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings throughout his life. He and Barbara served an LDS Mission in Tennessee, and were temple workers in the Ogden LDS Temple in their later years, which brought them much joy and where they met many dear friends. Clyde is preceded in death by his wife Barbara and grandson, Jason Steven Larsen. He is survived by his sister Bernice Matheson, Firth, ID; his daughter, Kristine Larsen, Mantua, UT; three grandchildren, Jaime, Terry and Whitney Larsen, also of Mantua, UT; and his dearest little friend, Ginger. Ronda was born on January 19, 1939, in Rupert, Idaho, to Vern and Winnie Carson Moncur. She was reared and educated in Burley, Idaho. After graduating high school, she attended Ex-cel-cis Beauty College in Salt Lake City, UT. There she met and married Robert Best. Together they had two children Holly and Kim Best. Robert and Ronda were later divorced. In 1981 she married Kenneth Somerville in Martinez, California. He preceded her in death in 1997. She worked for many years at Roberts Hair Fashions retiring in 1981. Ronda loved to style hair, needlepoint, crochet, flower arranging, had a passionate love for cats. Ronda is survived by her mother, Winnie, Burley, ID; daughter, Holly Best Walker, Roy, UT; son, Kim (Shiree) Best, Orem, UT; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Gene (Stella) Moncur, Boise, ID; Gale (Ranae) Moncur, Burley, ID; sister, Jolene (Reggie) Teeter, Yost, UT and also her special friend Jay who brought joy and light to the last years of her life. GRIMMETT MONSEN BRIGHAM CITY - Juno Arvella Grimmett Monsen, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2004, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on August 1, 1906, in Moreland, Idaho, a daughter of Hyrum and Hannah Sleight Grimmett. Juno married Hugh Ralph Monsen on April 14, 1932, in Blackfoot, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught Sunday school, Primary and Relief Society for many years. Juno especially loved to teach and enjoyed visiting with the children. She loved to write and recite poetry throughout her life. Surviving are her three daughters, Valene (Hank) Krone, Brigham City; Carma (Jim) Cady, Brigham City; Ann (Mike) McClure, Sandy; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; one sister, Norma (David) Williams, Moreland, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Ralph, her daughter, Gayla June; her twin sister, June Garrett; five brothers and three sisters. ALICE HANSEN LEE HENDERSON, NEVADA - Alice Hansen Lee, 90, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2004, at her son's home in Henderson, Nevada. She was born on February 9, 1914, in Teton City, Idaho, a daughter of Lester Lavon and Letitia Hunsaker Hansen. She attended high school in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Alice married Robert Eli Lee on May 27, 1938, in the Logan LDS Temple and were married for 64 years. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2003. She enjoyed watching Fox News, KBYU TV, music, dancing, reading the scriptures and cooking. But most of all she loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her two daughters and two sons: Linda Nelson, Las Vegas, NV; Barbara Lee, Woodland, WA; Thomas Lee and Steve Lee both of Henderson, NV; 30 grandchildren and 67 great grandchildren. EDUVIGES HERRERA BRIGHAM CITY - Eduviges Herrera, 89, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2004, in Corinne, at his daughter's home. He was born on October 17, 1914, in Orangeville, Texas, a son of Vicente and Ramona Ramos Herrera. Eduviges was married to Ramona Mora on February 25, 1940, in Laredo, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 18, 1998. Before retiring he was a carpenter with Noser Construction Company in McAllen, Texas. He is survived by eight children: Eduviges (Alicia) Herrera Jr., Ogden,; Rosa (Alfredo) Torres, Ogden; Raquel (Baldemar) Sanchez, Del Rio, Texas; Valentina (Arturo) Garza of Galt, CA; Hortencia (Sam) Cardenas, Corinne; Elva (Juan) Reyes, Wickenburg, AZ; Vicente (Grace) Herrera, Worland, WY; Ruben (Ramona) Herrera, Ogden; one daughter-in-law, Maria (Lalo) Herrera, Brigham City; one sister-in-law, Dora (Raul) Ramirez, Laredo, TX; 51 grandchildren, 102 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Eduardo Herrera and Irene Guajardo; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; two sisters, and one brother. Arlie was born November 23, 1913, at London, Kentucky, a son of John A. Tincher and Margaret Doane Tincher. He was raised in Kentucky and came to Brigham City in 1934 with the CCC's. He met Dorothy Jensen and they were married June 27, 1937. They had eight children: Arliene (Dan) Erb, Houston, TX; Bert (Barbara) Tincher, Fenton, MI; Jay (Bonnie) Tincher, Midvale, UT; Mary (Don) Jensen, Roy, UT; Bruce Tincher, Salt Lake City, UT; Janet (Neil) Coleman, Desert Aire, WA; Kelly (Karen) Tincher, Brigham City, UT; Carl (Linda) Tincher, Tooele, UT; 15 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren. Dorothy died on August 11, 1974. In 1975 he married Luella Drollette and added Charlene (Gerald) Baltezore, Clovis, CA; Robert (LaVern) Drollette, Benson, UT; Dale (Gloria) Drollette, Brigham City, UT; David (Lisa) Drollette, Thayne, WY; 23 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren. He retired from Hill Field in 1979 after 37 years of government service, of which two years were spent in the Philippines in the U.S. Army. Arlie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, were he was a High Priest, Home Teacher and Scout Master. He enjoyed cooking for Happy Days Trailer Park; he had served as Fire Chief for the Washington Terrace Fire Department. She was born November 23, 1908, in Panguitch, Utah, a daughter of Frank and Edith Dickenson Cannon. Her mother was the daughter of early Mormon settlers in Southern Utah. Lena was the first born of four children. Her father died in 1918 in the influenza epidemic and Lena helped in the raising of her three younger brothers. When Lena was 14, her mother married George Mathewson and the family moved to Battle Mountain, NV. For Lena it was a big change, leaving her friends and going to a new state, but she did well and made many new friends and was a high achiever in school where she was the valedictorian for her graduating class. In Battle Mountain she met her husband, Herbert E. Merrill and they were married on October 29, 1929, in a double wedding ceremony with one of Herb's brothers. Herb and Lena lived in Nevada, California and Oregon, then they moved to Brigham City in 1944 where Herb became a barber and had a shop on Main Street, for 20 years. Lena was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in Primary, Mutual and Boy Scouts. After her boys were in high school she worked at the Brigham Hotel, Brigham Sportswear and for Idle Isle Chocolates. Lena and Herb where avid fisher people and when Herb retired they spent many years fishing the waters of Utah and Idaho. They loved the outdoors and had a small mobile home in which to travel. Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, and son William (Bill) Merrill. She is survived by her son, Keith Merrill, Brigham City; three grandchildren, Terry (Paul) Reese, Brigham City; Brent Merrill and Tracy Merrill, CA; two great granddaughters, Callee (Jeremy) Bischoff; and Jamie (Rex) Keller, all of Brigham City; and one great great granddaughter, Madison Keller. Send condolences to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com LYLE GORDON WHEELER BRIGHAM CITY Our beloved husband, father, grandpa, and friend, Lyle Gordon Wheeler, 57, passed away on June 26, 2004, following a long battle with Alzheimers. He was born on April 4, 1947, in American Falls, Idaho, to George Ira Wheeler and Lettie Mae Peck. He was the youngest of six children. Gordon graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1965. He attended one year at Ricks College and then attended Idaho State University graduating in 1969. He met and fell in love with his loving wife Oleta Cobbley. They were married on September 19, 1969, in the Logan LDS Temple. They became parents of four boys and one girl. Gordon was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the church and gave many years of service to it. Gordon was an extremely hard worker. He worked at Box Elder mosquito abatement for 30 years. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and just being outdoors with his family and friends. He loved to dutch oven cook for others. He loved being with his best friend LouDell Reese. He also loved and cared very much for his family and all the rest of his friends. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Oleta, and children: Lyle Brendan (Mindy) Wheeler, Tremonton; Brant Jeremy (Holly Ann) Wheeler, Tremonton, Tanalee (Curtis) Weaver, Brigham City; Justin Wayne (Heather) Wheeler, Ogden; six grandchildren that loved him very much, Devon, Calista, Kaelinn, Brttib, Kayla, Brooklyn and one on the way. Also surviving are two brothers, Marvin (Elaine) Wheeler of Palmer, Alaska; Norman (Daine) Wheeler, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one son. He was born on December 31, 1991, the son of Bret Garth and Donna Arnold Rohde in Tremonton, Utah. Kasey attended schools both in Brigham and Tremonton. He was active in many sports including; baseball, basketball, soccer, and swimming. He was a deacon in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and an active Boy Scout. Kasey was the light and inspiration to all his family. He had a very contagious laugh and could always make people smile. He was tender hearted, a peacemaker, a good influence, and will be missed greatly by everyone he came into contact with. He is survived by his parents, Bret (Sheryl) Rohde of Tremonton and Donna (Kim) Peterson of Brigham City; three sisters: Chelsie Rohde and Jordane Rohde both of Brigham City, Nikki (Caleb) Smart of Draper; step family; Kevin (Jesse) Peterson, Michelle (Jason) London, Amber (Drew) Campbell, all of Brigham City; Cody Turner, Christy (Mike) Taylor, and Jennifer Turner all of Tremonton; grandparents: Beth Arnold, Ron and Suzanne Arnold, Garth and Cathy Rohde, and Carol and Robert Fewell; great grandparents, Geniel Rohde and Merle Arnold; and very special friends: Sam McCorristin, Drake Walker, Kyle Burgess, and Daniel Brough.
