She was born in Wellsville, Utah, on June 16, 1913, to Mary Riggs Poppleton and William Maughan Williamson. At the age of 8 years old, her family moved to a farm north of Smithfield, Utah. She attended schools in Wellsville until second grade and continued her schooling at Smithfield Jr. High in Smithfield and North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah. She married Heber Carl Cronquist in Logan and lived on the Cronquist Homestead until 1983, at which time, upon the death of her husband, she moved to Logan, where she lived alone for 22 years, taking care of her home and yard until the last 11/2 years. She is survived by her children, H. Carl (Valoye) Cronquist of Blackfoot, Idaho, Joyce (Dr. Don B.) Olsen of Salt Lake City, William K. (Bill) (Linda) Cronquist of Springville, Utah, Pauline C. Thain of Las Vegas, Nev., Idella C. Stockwell of Henderson, Nev., and Jerry B. Cronquist of Hooper, Utah; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Griffin of Logan and Ethel Greene of Smithfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Heber Carl; two great-grandchildren, Crystal Gail Cronquist and Donald Charles Olsen; two sisters, Edith Coburn and Aileen Scot; and three brothers, Floyd Williamson, Vernon Williamson and Thomas Williamson. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and throughout the years served in several capacities. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was loved and cherished by all. She had many interests, among them cooking, crocheting, reading and genealogy. But her passion was gardening. There were always beautiful roses and flowers blooming in her yard. She enjoyed playing games (especially Forkel) with her grandchildren and loved ones. She had a terrific sense of humor and a great attitude toward life. Her door was always open to everyone and they all knew that inside her home they would be greeted with a welcome hug, a smile and plenty of good food. Our mother's and grandmother's love will always remain in the hearts of her family. Her world truly revolved around all of us. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to all her caring neighbors and friends, to Dr. Gordon Wood and his staff, Dr. Michael Stone for his many years of care, Alpine Hospice Care and her many caregivers and friends at the Sunshine Terrace Nursing Home, with a special thanks to Susie Davis. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.
