She was the fourth child born to John George Braegger Jr. and Elsie Lofthouse. She was born May 27, 1927, in Willard, Utah. She married Don C. Garner, Dec. 28, 1948, in Elko, Nev. They later divorced. From this union two children were born, a daughter, Elsa Dawn Pitcher (Ralph) of Lewiston, and son Dan William Garner. She graduated from the University of Utah and worked at Salt Lake County Hospital, Montana and McKay Dee hospitals retiring as director of nursing at Star Valley Hospital. In the '50s she was one of only two nurses in the western United States who knew how to run the Bird Respirator when the polio epidemic hit, leaving her on call 24 hours a day to train nurses and doctors all over the West how to run the respirator. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn, and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Dan William; parents; a sister Beth; and two brothers Roy G. and James E. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 9, at noon in the Willard 4th Ward chapel, 195 N. 200 West, Willard, Utah. Friends and family may call at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, on Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.
