It is generally agreed among different authorities that Kay’s ward was organized sometime in 1851, four years after Hector C. Haights first arrived. The town of Kaysville which was named after its founder, Bishop Kay, was incorporated in 1868. Kaysville was the first incorporated town in Davis County, the boundaries at that time being approximately five miles square. Thomas F. Roueche served as the first mayor of the town. Kaysville is located in the central part of Davis County, a choice town surrounded by fertile farms, conveniently located near the rapidly expanding Hill Air Force Base and the Clearfield Navy Supply Depot and within easy driving distance of Metropolitan Ogden and Salt Lake City. The town at present boasts two schools, Davis High School which serves the north section of the county and Kaysville Elementary school. A new seven room elementary school is planned for the near future. The Davis County Health Center as well as the Davis County Library is located in the town. The town is now expanding rapidly with the addition of different new subdivisions. The town is served by three highways, U.S. 91, U.S. 91 alternate, and U.S. 89. It includes approximately 1,400 acres within the city limits. The expanding boundaries and population is an indication of rapid growth and progress as well as social and economic well-being in the future. sville Additional Comments: Extracted from "Kaysville City Directory" Undated, but from the 1960's File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ut/davis/history/other/briefhis5gms.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/utfiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
