He returned home to his Heavenly Father on Dec. 9, 2005, after a two-year battle with cancer and rejoined his loving parents and family members who preceded him. Rulon always had a sense of humor and could make you laugh in the worst of times. He remained positive during his chemotherapy treatments and fought a good fight. He endured to the end, and kept his faith and testimony strong, and accomplished the Prophet's challenge to read the Book of Mormon before the end of the year. Rulon was a loving devoted companion to his wife Judy, a good father who provided everything he could for his children as they were growing up and was a friend to all who knew him. Rulon attended Lafayette grade school in Salt Lake City, Bountiful and South Davis Jr. High, and Davis High School in Kaysville, where he enjoyed playing basketball and football. He joined the United States Air Force in 1956, and worked on B52 bombers at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Wash. Rulon received various service metals, and later an honorable discharge from the service when he was required to return home to take care of his mother, and 10-year-old brother after the unexpected death of his father. Later married and divorced D.M.Taylor. Rulon met his wife Judy at an LDS single adult fireside, and as time passed, they found they had quite a lot in common. They discovered in their family histories that both their pioneer ancestors knew each other, hunted buffalo, and crossed the plains together. They would later claim with a smile, that it was both their ancestors, Thomas Bullock and Thomas Grover and others who brought them together. They were married on June 5, 1982, and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple by his uncle, C. Douglas Barnes. Rulon worked for the United States Postal Service for 32 years and received several employee awards, two special achievement awards for Outstanding Service and one for his work on the Combined Federal Campaign Fund for the United Way. He also received awards for 22 years of safe driving when he was a carrier. Later, as a clerk, he had an astounding ability to remember the names and addresses of all the residents on the delivery routes in Bountiful. His co-workers often asked him for help with wrong addresses, names and/or missing information. Rulon was called to be an ordinance worker at the Salt Lake Temple where he served for eight years. He and Judy also served in the Bountiful Temple as ordinance workers prior to his declining health. He enjoyed his callings in various wards as first counselor and later Sunday School president, 1st and 2nd assistant and secretary in the high priest group leadership, ward food storage specialist, and home teacher. Rulon was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers and was the great-great-grandson of Thomas Bullock, a personal clerk to the Prophet Joseph Smith, the grandson of Andrew Jenson, a prominent Church Historian, and also the great-grandson of George Beard, a notable Utah artist. Rulon enjoyed sports and coached church basketball for several seasons. He loved getting out in the mountains to hunt, fish, and camp by the water, and enjoyed running river rapids. He and Judy had a lot of fun running the Snake River, and especially loved the Teton Mountain Range, Jenny's Lake, and spent many hours by their backyard waterfall, watching quail, hummingbirds, and the beautiful Farmington sunsets. He is survived by his right hand lady, his devoted wife Judy C. Jenson of nearly 24 years, and their combined families, Keith (Carol Jenson, Marci (Rick) Winkel, Andrea Durham, Kirsten (Ron) Lim, Kenton (Karen) Jenson, Neill Brian (Nicole) Pierce, Kristin (Mike) Boswell, 19 combined grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his brother Duane (Rorie) Jenson, aunts Marjorie and Elsie Beard, uncles, numerous family members friends and his loving family pets Annie and Gracie who will miss him. Our heartfelt thanks are extended to Regina C. Klein M.D., and her caring staff at the Utah Cancer Specialists Clinics in Bountiful and Layton for their cheerful hearts, and many hours of professional and loving care for Rulon; to Vista Care Hospice Service for their compassionate attention to his needs; and to the many neighbors, family and friends who have expressed their love through their many thoughtful acts of kindness. Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at 11 a.m.at the Compton Bench Ward Chapel, 850 North 300 West Compton Road, Farmington, Utah.
