She faced the struggles of Alzheimer disease with dignity and patience for more than ten years. She never lost her smile, the sparkle in her eyes or the joy that was in her heart when she would see her husband and family. She was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Brigham City, Utah, to Henry Oakley and Vilate Jensen Durfey. She grew up in Beaver Dam and Riverdale with her five sisters. She graduated from Weber High School in 1943. She attended LDS Business College. Marjorie loved being a secretary. She worked at the Naval Supply Depot in Clearfield during WWII, and later at Paramount Pictures. She was one of the founding members of Anderson Engi-neering in Salt Lake City. Before she married, she traveled around the country visiting her sisters in Minnesota, Nebraska and California. On June 30, 1947, she married her childhood sweetheart, Virgil B. Anderson in the Logan Temple. Throughout their life together they were a beautiful and devoted couple. They have three children, Pamela Ilene (Terry) Schmidt, Lynn Virgil (Dorte) Anderson, Steven Durfey (Jeanne) Anderson. They have left their children with a legacy of love and a firm heritage. She accompanied her husband during the Korean War to Wisconsin and Washington D.C. She had a full and exciting life living in California, Colorado and Utah with her husband and children. She was active in the LDS church filling positions as Primary president, counselor in the M.I.A. and on the Relief Society board. She loved the gospel and strengthened others with her good example and high ideals. Her happiness and love for life was contagious to all those around her. She was a devoted wife and mother making home a wonderful place to be. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored her, as did her husband and children. She loved music, writing stories, decorating, cooking and travel. She shared wonderful stories of her travels to Europe, Russia, Alaska and the Caribbean. She will always be remembered as being the life of the party, laughing with her sisters, and for her grace and generosity. She loved to go on Sunday "rides" much to the chagrin of her young children, but it has since instilled in them a love for nature and an appreciation for the many beautiful places of the world. Her husband and children believe she was their greatest fan. We will miss this bright star in our lives, but we know that she has left her earthly cares and is joyfully reunited with her beloved mother, father, two sisters and brother who have preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Virgil, and their three children, 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two more on the way; her three sisters, Iris (Paul) Vance, Mesa, Ariz., Vienna Kelly, Castaic, Calif., Carol Kislan, West Bountiful. She was active in different county events, including being Secretary for the Iron County Fair Board which produced the Pioneer Day celebrations drawing many from the surrounding area. She held various church callings throughout her life. When Mom first met Dad she was working as deputy county clerk, a job she enjoyed very much. Part of her duties required her signature on marriage licenses. She jokingly reminded Dad that her signature was necessary so his behavior should be such that she wouldn't rescind it. She and Dad were married on Dec. 29, 1959, in the St. George Temple. They had a wonderful life together, one she had long hoped for. They raised three children, enjoyed their grandchildren and did some traveling. Dad loves to travel and she was his good traveling companion. Words cannot express the love she had for her family. It was this love that kept her going as she struggled with many health issues the last years of her life. We are honored and blessed to have known and loved her. Interment, Bountiful Memorial Park. Mary L. Miller Dec. 22, 1920-Oct. 31, 2005 CENTERVILLE Mary Lucille Miller (Wallace), 84, a resident of Centerville and member of the Porter Lane 2nd Ward, passed away on Oct. 31, 2005 having suffered a heart attack. Mary was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Zanesville, Ohio, to John and Myrtle Rhinehart. She was the second of six children. She spent her youth and most of her adult life in Zanesville and Columbus, Ohio. Mary and her first husband Leonard V. Wallace had one son, Robert Edward. In 1962, she married Charles W. Miller. They spent 12 joyful years together before Charles' death in 1974. Mary joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 55. She shared her home with her mother (Myrtle) in Columbus until 1993. Mother and daughter then moved to Bountiful to be close to Robert (Bob) and his family. Mary has enjoyed many close friendships throughout her life. She would want to give special thanks to her most recent sister-friends and ward family. Mary had a special affection for animals, having loved many dogs over the years and most recently a little bird she called "Charlie." The following words penned by Rae Turnbull might best describe Mary's Christlike way. The poem is titled, "Their Mary." Her name is Mary, but her family calls her sister, mother, wife, grandmother, friend. And in times of greatest need: Godsend. For in one way or another, she's been each one of these to her grateful family. There are no favorites for her blessings, and no arbitrary limits to the love that Mary gives. And the beauty of it all is that she gives it willingly. Hers is a strong, yet gentle bond that holds her most securely in each one of their hearts. How fortunate (our family has been to have Mary L. Miller in our midst). Mary is survived by her two brothers, Don and Bob Rhinehart of Zanesville, Ohio; her son, Robert E. Wallace; six grandchildren (Amy, Jason, Tim, Carmen, Susan, Risha and their spouses); and 16 great-grandchildren (Cassie, Devin, Trevor, Noah, Landon, Brielle, Spencer, Preston, Grayson, Taya, Gabe, K.C., Caden, Tegan, Cole, and Jake). Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Centerville Porter Lane 2nd Ward at 437 West Porter Lane, Centerville. Friends may call at the Russon Brothers Farmington Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street. Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday, from 11:45-12:45 a.m. prior to services.
