He was born June 28, 1922, in Payson to Jared and Mattie Ellen Buys Tanner. He married Mary Joyce Anderson on December 31, 1945, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple., He was a veteran of WW II, member of the Operating Engineers, member of the Masonic Lodge, and a master mechanic. He is survived by children, Rodney Kent (Suk Cha) Tanner of Layton, Patricia Ann (Owen) Gonder of Escalante, Diana Lynn (Kenneth) Taylor of Spanish fork, and Kenneth Alan (Angela),Tanner of San Leandro, California; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and 6 sisters. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 31, 1998 at the Nephi 5th Ward Chapel. Burial in the Nephi City Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
