Born May 3, 1911 in Kanosh, Utah, of noble pioneer heritage to Franklin Eugene Barney and Mary Eleanor Rappleye. Married Beth Eskelson April 7, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active member of the LDS Church, served in the LDS East Central States Mission; held various ward positions including ward clerk; served as a Jordan River LDS Temple worker; and for 18 years in the extraction program. His happiest times were when he was with all of his family, especially his grandchildren. Survived by his wife, Beth; three daughters and two sons, Sandra (Norm) Vance, Green River, Wyoming; Donald O. (Barbara), West Valley; LaFawn (Ron) Stepan, Riverton; Bryce F., Billings, Montana; JoDean (Randy) Pond, West Jordan; 21 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Robison, Fillmore, Utah; brother, Frank L., Payson, Utah. Preceded in death by parents; two brothers, and five sisters. Funeral Services Friday, February 28, 11 a.m., Fort Union LDS Stake Center, 540 East 7200 South. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Thursday 6-8 p.m. and at the Stake Center Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East.
