She was born August 26, 1912 at Lubbock, Texas to Ezra Herman (Jack) Wheat and Maggie Evalina Moseley. She graduated from West Texas Teachers College with honors. She moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she met and married Marcus Cliffton Sorenson, a widower with three young daughters in 1941. Later they moved to Marcus' ranch in Garrison, UT. Their son Marcus Bruce Sorenson was born in Ely NV. Her husband died in Ely, NV in 1977. In her later years she married John Henry (Jack) Redd. She had almost 10 happy years with him in Murray, Utah. She was an excellent teacher, having taught high school as well as elementary school. She became a school librarian before retiring in Ely, NV. She loved literature and was an exceptional grammarian. She enjoyed helping her son edit his books. She was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a teacher in the Relief Society. She is survived by her husband, Jack Redd; son, Marc B. (Vickie) Sorenson, St. George, UT; three step-daughters, Elaine (Art) Ellsworth, St. George, UT; Enid (Clancy) Smyers, Lake View Terrace, CA; Mary (Ron) Vance, Sandy, UT; 17 grandchildren; 45 great- grandchildren who loved her greatly. She was preceded in death by her husband Marcus C. Sorenson; and one granddaughter Kathleen Sorenson Gibson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2003, 12:00 noon at the Millcreek 8th Ward, 4600 South 600 East. Friends may call the day of the service at the church from 11-11:45 a.m. Interment Crescent Cemetery. Cannon Mortuary funeral directors.
