He was born August 29, 1924 in Hinckley, Utah to Joseph and Delta Blake. Married his sweetheart, Barbara Lee Hunt, on March 10, 1951 in the St. George LDS Temple. He served a mission without purse or script in the California Mission. His love to build began with the remodeling of his father's farm home and continued with thirteen LDS Chapels, including a building mission with his entire family from 1963-1965. His greatest loves were his work and his family. He always took the time to teach others while working. He was a Professor of Building Construction at Salt Lake Community College. These experiences created the opportunity to serve his last mission as the Building Construction Supervisor of the Nashville Tennessee Temple. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years; seven children, Gilbert E. (Joye), Lauralee (Glenn) Gardner, Lisa (Gary) Moeller, R. Barlow (Kristy), Leslie (Ed) Nelson, Lani Ruth and LeAnn (Ropate) Maiwiriwiri; 26 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother, DeLaun and sisters, Charlotte, Cora, Irene and LouJean. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley Park 2nd Ward Meeting House, 5233 South 3200 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Friends and family may call Friday, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and one hour prior to the service at the Ward. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
