Florence was born June 21, 1914 in Deseret, Utah to Joshua and Lillie May Bennett. She was the 11th of 12 children. She grew up in Deseret, Utah where she graduated from Millard High School and met her eternal companion. Married Verdon Lynn Bliss August 24, 1933. Marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple December 3, 1953. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she held several callings in Primary, Relief Society and as a Temple Worker. Florence worked as a waitress and later as a secretary where she retired from Sentinel Security Life Insurance Company after many years of faithful service. She loved traveling with her husband. They traveled much of the United States and Canada together and with many friends. They spent many winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. Florence had many hobbies and was skilled in many crafts. She spent many hours knitting beautiful and elaborate afghans for her children, grandchildren and friends. Her great-grandchildren will miss visiting her and enjoying the M&M's she always had for them. Florence was a person of tremendous determination and will who strived for excellence in all that she did. She delighted in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by daughter Jeneal (Wayne) Burt of Salt Lake City, son Keith (Jackie) Bliss of Murray, Utah, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grand-children and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Verdon; sons Ronald and Douglas (Sharon) Bliss, great-grandchild Chase Keller and all of her brothers and sisters. Florence and her family wish to thank the many people of Millcreek Retirement Residence and Residence Care Source who worked hard to make her final years and moments comfortable. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., August 2, 2003, at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy, Utah. Friends may call in Sandy one hour prior to services and Friday, August 1, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
