He was 87 years old. He was born March 4, 1916, in Scipio, Utah, to Milo T. Dyches and Winnifred Emma Wasden. Fred graduated from school in Monroe, Utah, and then served faithfully in the German-Austrian Mission from 1935-1938. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Fred and both of his brothers, Tom and Dave, graduated from Idaho State University's School of Pharmacy. He and his brother, Dave, were partners and owned Dyches Pharmacies in Murray and Salt Lake City, Utah; Elko, Nevada; and Richfield, Utah, while Tom owned Dyches Pharmacy in Magna, Utah. Fred also worked for Walgreens and Skaggs. He married Mary Katherine Roberts in the Logan Temple on August 10, 1948. They were blessed with nine children, although two daughters died in infancy. Mary preceded him in death on December 15, 1984, after having suffered a number of years with scleroderma. He served her faithfully during this difficult time. While serving a family history mission in Salt Lake City, he met and later married April M. Sams. They were married on October 12, 1992, in the Salt Lake Temple. April passed away on August 10, 2000. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. He was a good father who provided well for his family. He will be remembered as a man who loved to work, to fish, to build homes, and to be on Monroe Mountain. Surviving family members include Fred (Myrna) Dyches in Globe, Arizona; Tim (Jill) Dyches in Reno, Nevada; Jan Dyches in Centerville, Utah; Kevin (Sandy) Dyches in Overland Park, Kansas; Ryan (Miriam) Dyches in Mesa, Arizona; Julie Dyches (Mike) Garlick in Centerville, Utah; and Kathryn Dyches (Roy) Woodbury in Franklin, Massachusetts; Nathan (Judy) Sams in Owasso, Oklahoma; Eldon Sams in Tulsa, Oklahoma; 25 grandchildren, and four great-grand children. Also survived by brothers Tom (Claone) Dyches in Magna, Utah, and Dave Dyches in Richfield, Utah; and sister Winnifred Dyches Campbell in Murray, Utah. Preceded in death by daughters, Karen and Kay; and sister, Virginia Dyches Nielsen. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in the Monroe Stake Center, where friends may call on Friday 9 to 10 a.m. Burial, Monroe City Cemetery with military rites by the Monroe American Legion Post #37.
