He was born April 29, 1914 in Oak City. After moving to Leamington in 1917, he began to attend public school in his hometown and high school in Delta. Then attending USAC (Utah State Agricultural College) in 1932, graduating with a bachelor degree in Forestry and Range Management. In 1942, Rich served in the Army, as an officer during World War II. He married our late grandmother and mother Klee Berlin Finlinson on February 8, 1941, later being solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. After being discharged from the Army, he accompanied his father as a cattle rancher in Leamington. He was active in the church, as he strongly believed everyone should be, as well as the town's activities. Grandpa loved to tell his boyhood stories to all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Riding horses and taking care of his family and ranch was what he loved to do best. He served on the board of Leamington Irrigation Co. for 50 years also serving with Intermountain Farmers Association was president and on the board of directors for eighteen years. Served on the Leamington town board, president of the Millard County Cattlemen's Association. Grand Marshal of Days of the old West Rodeo and Leamorado Days. Survived by his sister Elizabeth Foy of Panguitch Utah; daughter RiJeeana Butler of Leamington and son Courtney Finlinson of Delta. Rich has eleven grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife Klee Finlinson, brothers Burns, Fred and Jeseph Finlinson, sisters Susan Weagle, and Ann Finlinson. Services will be held at Leamington Chapel on Tuesday the 30th of December, starting with a viewing from 9:30 to 11:00. Funeral Following. Published in the Salt Lake Tribune on 12/30/2003.
