GEORGE, UT - Evelyn Avery Hall, 76, passed away on July 23, 2003 in St. George, Utah following a courageous fight with cancer. Evelyn was born on February 27, 1927 in Kanosh, Utah to John Andy Avery and Ethella Foster Avery. She married Donald Eugene Hall on September 13, 1946 in Provo, Utah, they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 16, 1946. Evelyn grew up in the small town of Kanosh, UT and graduated from Millard High School in Fillmore. She attended Brigham Young University. Don and Evelyn then moved to American Fork where they made their home for 50 years. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served her church faithfully in many church callings. Evelyn and her husband served a mission together in the Provo, UT Mission assigned to the St. George Visitor's Center and Historical Monuments. After his death, Evelyn served another mission for her church and was currently serving as a ward missionary. Her life's work was her family and Church. She was a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and other civic organizations. "God saw that you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put His arms around you and whispered, come with me. With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden he! art stopped beating, working hands were placed to rest. God breaks our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best." She is survived by her children, Larry D. (Nadine) Hall, Riverton, UT, Gloria (David) Merrill, Murray, UT, Dennis B. (Jeannie) Hall, West Jordan, UT, Debra (Steve) Rigby, Moscow, ID, and Tammy Curry of St. George, UT; 19 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers and sisters Loraine (Donnevee) Avery, St. George, UT; Aseneth "Jean" (Clark) Tolton, American Fork, UT, Helen Larson, St. George, UT; Mildred Anderson, Washington, UT; and Clair (Carma) Avery, Provo, UT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2003, 10 a.m., Cotton Manor Ward Chapel, 595 N. 2450 E., St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 6-8 p.m., Metcalf Mortuary, 300 W. St. George Blvd. and Saturday, 9-10 a.m., prior to the services at the chapel. A short graveside service will be held in the American Fork City Cemetery on July 26, 2003, 4 p.m. under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221.
