Obituary: The Salt Lake Tribune, Thursday, 12 Feb 2004:

Ruth Hansen
1918 ~ 2004

     DELTA - Ruth Hansen, 85, passed away February 10, 2004, Delta.

     Born July 1, 1918 in Ferron to Henry Daniel and May Adrian Petersen
Hansen. Family moved to Delta 1925, has been her home since. Graduated Delta
High School, 1935. Teaching certificate from BYU, 1939. Began teaching that
fall, elementary school in Sutherland. In 1946, librarian in Delta High School
until retirement in 1980. Students of Delta High School retain fond memories
of her, her friendship and influence in their lives. Several terms on Delta
City Council, then Mayor, 1986-89. Improved and updated 1st Delta City Library
in old bakery building. When new library constructed, bequeathed several
thousand dollars to acquisition of new books and necessary items. Active in
and held many positions in LDS Church. Two year mission to Denmark, 1950-1952.
Many years working on knotty problems of genealogy for Danish ancestors.
Served teaching and doing genealogy work many years in Church programs, and
LDS Genealogical Library in Salt Lake.

     Survived by two sisters and two brothers: Louise Lyman; Chris Hansen,
both Delta; Kimball Hansen; Margaret Van Leuven, both Provo. Numerous nieces
and nephews who loved her as parent/mentor. Always generous and loving. Will
be missed by those remaining. Big family reunion is being held with those who
preceded her in death.

     Funeral Services Saturday February 14, 2004, 11 a.m., Delta 1st Ward, 200
N 200 W, Delta. Friends call February 13, 7-9 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, 190 S
Center St, Delta, and at church Saturday 9:30-10:40 a.m. Burial Delta
Cemetery. Family requests, in her honor, donations made to Delta City Library.
