He was born on January 10, 1923 to Roy Parker and Fannie Lee Hilton in Delta, Utah. He married Gloria Mathews, November 20, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple, and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. Lawrence served in the Army during World War II and then attended BYU and the U of U where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for U & I Sugar Company for 27 years. He was a life long faithful member of the LDS church. He especially enjoyed serving the young men in the scouting program and served quietly and faithfully in all of his many callings. Lawrence loved being outdoors and enjoyed all sports. He was a hard worker and could fix almost anything. Lawrence was a man of integrity, he was kind and loving and was a wonderful example to all. The love of his life was his family. He is survived by his wife Gloria Mathews Hilton, daughters Ila Gayle Andrews (Lester), Rosemary Madsen (Marshall); sons Lawrence Craig Hilton (Shirley), Mathew Roy Hilton (Debbie), James Morrell Hilton (Cindy); sisters Lula Marie Henriksen (LaMont), Ione Christensen (James); brother Ross C. Hilton (Valeda), 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with five more on the way. Lawrence is preceded in death by his brother Junius Harlan Hilton (Opal). Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brickyard Ward Chapel, 3487 South 1300 East. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wasath Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive and also from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
