Although his passing was sudden, he died peacefully, surrounded by family. Roland, a resident of Delta, Utah since 1959, was born in Dayton, ID to Theodore Robert and Myrtle Roper Murdock. Spent formative years on the family farm in Dayton. Roland served his country during Korean War, after which he met and married the love of his life, Margaret Dalley, August 10, 1955 in the Logan Temple. Earned a degree in entomology and horticulture from Utah State University in 1957 and then began work for state of Utah and USU as Agricultural District Inspector in Delta. Retired from that job in 1998, after 39 years of devoted service. Roland was a true and loyal friend, a rock-solid example of selfless service. He greeted each day with a song. He was lover of the gospel, a high priest who fulfilled callings and kept God's commandments. He was the patriarch of his family, the first person his children turned to for advice. A father of considerable talents and abilities: a designer, builder, scientist, and artist; full of humor, and well loved. Survived by Wife: Margaret, Delta; Children: R. Kim (Anne), Kearns; Robert (Jill), Evans, CO; Kathie (Scott) Ritter, Orem; Robin (Mason) Edwards, Taylorsville; Jon (Denise), Delta; Brian (Stephanie), Taylorsville; K. Scott (Kelli), Springville; Richard (Elizabeth), Provo; Jana, Glendale, AZ. 24 Grandchildren. Siblings: Norma (Lyman) Merrill, Preston, ID; Suel (Gae), Dayton, ID; Theo Milford (Suelyn), Boise, ID. Preceded in death by Grandson: Samuel Ryan Murdock. Funeral services Saturday, January 3, 2004, 11 a.m. at Delta 3rd Ward LDS Chapel. Friends call Friday, 7-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, Delta, and at Church Saturday 9:30-10:40 a.m. Burial Delta Cemetery. Goodbye "Dear Old Dad." We love you.
