He was born January 6, 1925 in Fillmore, Utah to Hazel Hatton and William Clark Payne. Married the sweetheart of his life, Edna Fae Weed February 25, 1950. Orton was a heavy equipment operator for Gardner Construction for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors; he especially loved spending time with his family. Orton was a private man who will be remembered for the selfless sacrifices he made for his family and those he loved. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; children Gary (Lynnette), Debra (Ed) Brandol, Danette Ford; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Donald W. Payne; sister Helen Richey; numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Preceded in death by his parents and his loving son, Scott W. Payne. A Viewing will be held Wednesday November 19th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Rd., West Jordan. Interment to follow the service on Friday, November 21st at 2:00 p.m. Redwood Memorial Cemetery. He fought a hard and courageous battle and he will be greatly missed.
