Karl was born on April 3, 1925, Meadow, Utah, to Karl and Venice Bushnell Stott. He married Geneva Amaryllis Noland on June 10, 1947 in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death, July 21, 1988. Karl married Karen Kay Fokken on November 25, 1989 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Karl grew up in Salina, Utah and graduated from North Sevier High School. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Shortly after graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Karl worked for Utah Power & Light Company where, after 35 years of dedicated service, he retired as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Karl raised his family, overshadowed by the Wasatch Mountains, in Salt Lake City and Provo. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Karl served in many positions including Stake Missionary, Counselor in the Bishopric, Young Men's President, Ward Clerk and Stake Clerk. In 1991 Karl and Karen served an LDS mission to the New York City Visitor's Center. As a member of the Cougar Club, Karl was an avid supporter of Brigham Young University. He retired in his home in Provo only a few blocks from the Marriot Center and the Lavell Edwards Stadium where he could be fully involved in B.Y.U. Karl loved to travel. Many summers were spent exploring the famous national parks of Utah, visiting Sea World, Disney Land and the Redwoods of California, Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, Yellowstone, the coast of Oregon and Washington, Glacier National Park, Branson, Missouri and famous sites of the midwest, Canada, and abroad through Europe and Israel. He was always anxious to share his experiences and sites of skyscrapers and the Broadway venues of Manhattan after each of his many visits to New York. If Karl wasn't traveling, he loved to work in his beautiful yard. If there was an extra inch for another tree, Karl would plant it. He was especially proud of his beautiful roses. Family came foremost in Karl's life. He was especi! ally sensitive about the welfare of all. Karl is survived by his wife, Karen of Provo; children, Allen and Dianna Stott, Saratoga Springs; Barbara Jean Stott, Provo; JoAnn and Vernon Crandall, Orem; Pamela Johnson, Santaquin; Scott and Lisa Fokken, Omaha and David and Vonnie Fokken, Sun City, CA; 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, sister Sharral (Bruce) Parkin, Bountiful and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva and parents, Karl and Venice Stott. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the Pleasant View 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 650 E. Stadium Ave., Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center St., Provo, Friday, November 21st 6:00-8:00 p.m. or 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., prior to the funeral service at the Pleasant View 1st Ward.
