Born January 30, 1930 to Grant Lorenzo and Ida Mildred (Esklund) Thompson; Scipio, Utah. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and brother. Passed Away August 17, 2003 in Seattle, Washington due to complications from a brain hemorrhage. Gordon is survived by Karen his wife and his children Susan and Ernie Baca (Taylorsville, UT); Gordon (Stuart) Jr., and Bobbie Thompson (Smithfield, UT); Spencer and Ferria Thompson (Clearfield, UT), Sylvia and Reg Pacheco (Layton, UT); Scott and Margie Thompson (West Bountiful, UT); Sally and Brian Iratani (Seattle, WA); James and Janice Williams (Metlakatla, AK); and Bonna (Williams) Lindsey (Metlakatla, AK). Gordon has 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His sisters Marilyn and Diane and his older brother Preston reside in Saint George, UT and his younger brother Russell resides in Logan, UT. Gordon was a graduate of Millard High School, and graduated from the University of Utah in 1958 where he later entered Graduate School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1949 at Fort Lewis and served on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in West Germany beginning in 1950. Married Nola J. Thomas, January 22, 1954 divorced 1967, married Karen Blandov March 1976. Gordon's greatest joy and commitment was his time in Metlakatla where he found his life most comforting. His small town roots have never left him and he will be memorialized in Scipio, Utah on Thursday, August 21, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the LDS Chapel. Published in the Salt Lake Tribune on 8/20/2003.
