Ray M. Boyer"Marion" Ray M. Boyer passed away from this life December 3, 2004 at his home in Bountiful, Utah.He was born June 6, 1916 in Salina, Kansas the son of Clarence and Bertha Elinor Pfaff Boyer. He married Mary Ethel Kenney in 1938 in Oberlin, Kansas; they later divorced. Mary Ethel died in 1985. Marion, married June Barnett Mitchell on Valentines Day in 1963 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 5, 1967. Marion was reared and educated in Kansas. He graduated from Colby High School. He has lived in Bountiful, Utah since 1964. Marion started driving at the age of 14. He hauled gasoline as a professional truck driver for Parley Droubay, Phillips 66 and Road Way Express. He retired from Dunn Oil Company in 1984. Throughout his life he was active in the LDS Church. He was a high priest in the Bountiful 19th Ward, Bountiful North Stake. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Chauffeurs, Warehousemen and Helpers of America, Local 222, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a veteran of World War II. Marion was a mellow, fun loving, and kind hearted person. He enjoyed crocheting hangers, afghans, and hot pads. Throughout his life Marion enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, gardening, traveling, reading, and family gatherings. He is survived by his loving wife, June, of Bountiful; three sons, Dennis R. (Gloria) Boyer, John K. (Sharon) Boyer, Thomas H. (Michele) Mitchell; three daughters, Marilyn L. (Jerry) Nelson, Carlotta E. (Bill) Geirke, Carolyn Edwards; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; brothers, Jay Boyer, Pershing Boyer; and sisters, Thelma Vette, Wilma Wheeler, Charlotte Burchard, and Eleanor Rhea. Marion is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Della Boyer; brothers, Thermal, Harvey, Clifford Boyer; sisters, Janice McGinley and Shirley Vette. Wesley Hardy , beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away, surrounded by his family, December 3, 2004, in Salt Lake City. Born August 23, 1926 in Hurricane Utah to Della Humphries and Alvin Carl Hardy. Raised in Springdale Utah he attended Hurricane High School, where he met and fell in love with Ruth Bringhurst of Toquerville. They were married July 22, 1944 in the St. George Temple, and Wes entered the U.S. Army in No-vember of the same year. He served two years in World War II in North Africa and Italy. Survived by his wife, Ruth; and children, Craig Wesley (Dessa Poulson), Pamela Dent (Ray), Steven Leon (Camie Price), Richard Alvin (Linda Jensen), Tina Chiu (Stan); 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, William (Mack); and his sister, Nellie Ballard. Served LDS building mission with his family to Calgary Canada, and Rexburg (Lyman), Idaho. Also served as bishop, high counselor, and in many other church callings. President of the Utah Masonry Contractor's Association. Successful insurance executive, builder, contractor and developer. He lived his life with gusto, always had a "deal" in the works, and achieved his goal of working to the day he died. Beneath a rough exterior was a compassionate and generous patriarch. His passion for horses was shared with, and inspired many family members and friends. All will miss their horseback rides with Grand-pa on Delany's Star and Freckles. "Jack" Hembury, 83, of Lebanon died of complications from diabetes Monday at Lebanon Rehabilitation and Specialty Care. He was born in Pittsburg, PA, the son of George and Della (Troy) Hembury. Jack was raised by his aunt and uncle in Auburn, N.Y. He served an apprenticeship as a tool maker/machinist before serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to Auburn and married Marjorie Rannings on Oct. 6, 1946 in Union Spring, N.Y. They lived in Auburn where Jack worked as a tool maker/machinist for American Locomotive (ALCO). He retired in 1983. Jack and Marjorie moved to Albany in 1984 and to Lebanon in June 2004.Jack was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Auburn where he sang in the choir for 30 years. Locally, he belonged to St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Albany. Jack loved building things, being a handyman and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Lebanon; son Michael Hembury of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters Elizabeth Carter of Ames, Iowa and Susan Lofft of Lebanon; sister Catherine Daugherty of Pittsburg, PA; grandchildren Scott and Jennifer Carter and Trevor and Todd Lofft; great-grandchildren Zack and Tylar Lofft, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, George. Graveside services were held. Hirschi, Winona Buxton Winona Buxton Hirschi 1910 ~ 2004 Winona Buxton Hirschi, age 94, died peacefully December 1, 2004, in American Fork, Utah surrounded by loving family. She was born November 15, 1910 in Driggs, Idaho to Stillman Buxton and Lucinda Van Leuven Buxton. Student body vice-president of Teton High School, she went on to graduate from Utah State University in Home Economics in 1932. She married Lewis Edwin Hirschi in Bozeman, Montana, May 18, 1934, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1935. She taught school for many years-high school in Idaho, and then elementary school in Salt Lake City, Utah and Tucson, Arizona. She especially enjoyed teaching 5thgraders, and loved watching them learn. Winona and Edwin built several homes with their own hands, including their American Fork home, where they retired in 1976. They served a full-time mission in the Swiss Temple and continued with many years of temple work in the Provo Temple. She was a very devoted wife and mother, and served in many LDS church positions. She especially enjoyed the Young Women organization. Survivors include children, Sharen Smith and her husband, Wayne, Mona Clark and her husband, George, all of Salt Lake City; Jay Hirschi and his wife, Alyce, of Chicago, Illinois; and Marveen Dickey and her husband, Carter, of Tucson, Arizona. Winona was fortunate to have 11 devoted grandchildren, Lisa Hodson, Steven Smith, Sherry Hardy, Mike Smith, Holly Nelson, Alan Daniels, Cynthia Robinson, Krysta Pemberton, Matt Dickey, Ben Dickey and Abby Merchant. In addition, she found delight in her 33 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Elda Wood, Logan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 67 years, Lewis Edwin Hirschi. We will always remember her generosity as a mother, homemaker, teacher, and a devout church worker. Thanks to the staff and residents of Heritage Care Center for their excellent care. Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Kenith McCoy Hughes passed away peacefully at home and returned to his Heavenly Father on December 2, 2004. Kenith was born on February 11, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He was the first child born to Joseph Worthen Hughes and Bertha Christina Larsen. Kenith grew up in Mt. Pleasant, working very hard to help out his family. He graduated from North Sanpete High in 1954. Kenith moved to Salt Lake City where he met a girl who melted his heart. He married that girl, Faye LaPreal Hubner on August 24, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. Kenith served in the National Guard and in the Army Reserves. He attended Snow College and earned his Bachelors of Science degree in accounting in 1972 from the University of Utah. Kenith served in the Boy Scouts of America for 15 years. He enjoyed this calling and the numerous scouting trips he took. Under his guidance, he influenced many young men who passed through this program. He worked for Hercules 7 « years and Gibbons & Reed for 5 « years. He then spent the next 30 years as an accountant with Memorial Estates where he managed one of the top sales group in the company. He retired in 2002. Kenith was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. He faithfully served in many callings in the following organizations: Young Men, Elders Quorum, Sunday School, High Priests, Stake Financial Clerk, Ward Clerk, Sports, two Bishoprics, and Branch Presidency at the Detention Center. Kenith loved to travel with his wife. They traveled to 47 states and 12 countries. He enjoyed doing genealogy, purchasing and restoring old cars, woodworking and learning about historical places and people. He also enjoyed building homes for himself and his children. Kenith loved his family! Family was everything to him. Kenith enjoyed fishing, vacationing, playing games and pranks, and talking to his family. He enjoyed having many good friends. Kenith was a hard worker, who tried to never let his mother, wife and family go without. He was kind, mannerly and considerate of others. He was a wonderful example to everyone. We will miss him dearly. Kenith is survived by his wife of 48 years, Faye Hughes; one son, Eric Hughes (Leslie), five daughters, Corrinne Ackerman (Wayne), Rhonda Sherman (Layne), Lynette Carlston (Gary), Shelly Saxton (Gary) and Andrea Jenkins. He has 22 grandchildren and four great-granddaughters. He is survived by two brothers, Wayne Hughes and Ralph Hughes (Vallene), and sister Jolene Duke (Cal). Preceded in death by father Joseph W. Hughes, mother Bertha L. Hughes; and half brothers and sister, Dar Hughes, Worthen Hughes, Helen Hahn, and a granddaughter Larissa Jenkins. Kirkham, Beth Elaine Homer Beth Homer Kirkham 1936 ~ 2004 FRANCIS -Beth Elaine Homer Kirkham , 68, passed away December 4, 2004 in Provo, Utah. She was born January 17, 1936 in Wanship, Utah the daughter of Hyrum Edwin and Macel (Gordon) Homer. She married Sherman N. Kirkham July 30, 1954 in Wanship. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Beth and Sherman worked on their farm many years and had one daughter, Patty. As a member of the LDS Church she served in many callings including a mission in Salt Lake helping with membership records. She loved to travel, go to senior citizens, and spend time with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Patty (Franz) Larsen, of Francis; brothers, Edwin (Mirla) Homer and Jerry (Myrna) Homer, both Wanship. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a sister, Betty Wilde, 1971. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 12 noon in the Francis Ward chapel. Skeen, Charles Orson Charles Orson Skeen Charlie O LAYTON -Charles Orson Skeen , 70, a very special man, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2004 in the Davis Hospital and Medical Center of complications of surgery, pneumonia, and Parkinson's disease. He was born September 26, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Charles W. and Wanda Layton Skeen. He graduated from Ogden High School class of 1952. He married JoAn Perkes in 1956; and they later divorced. He married Shirley Reeder in 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Charles worked at Hill AFB in Sheet Metal Planning and Engineering and completed many temporary duty (TDY) tours to France, Japan, and three trips to Vietnam to repair aircraft damaged in the war. As a child he earned spending money catching and selling nightcrawlers (bait). He had a paper route that all of his brothers had a turn doing. Charlie and Shirley met through their interest in bowling. They bowled with his mom and dad at Ben Lomond Lanes, Kinfolk. He loved to golf and won, or placed in many tournaments. It broke his heart when his health forced him to stop. He loved working in his vegetable garden, and Shirley filled many bottles of fruit and froze many packages of corn, peas, and carrots. He was looking forward to getting all of the new state quarters as they came out. He loved to go to Wendover. He was on a first name basis with the KENO personnel at the Peppermill Casino. Everyone thought Charlie O was pretty special. Charlie was of pioneer descent, both on the Skeen and the Layton/Odd side. Six of his eight great-grand-parents were pioneers who came to Utah before 1869. Eleven of his great great-grandparents came to Utah before 1869 (the year of the railroad). His great-grandfather, John Layton, was Christopher Layton's brother. His great-grandfather, Jo-seph Skeen, was a member of the Mormon Battalion and was instrumental in surveying the city of Plain City at night by the North Star. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, who has been his loving caretaker; sons, Thomas Skeen, Saganaw, TX, Mark W. Skeen, Haltom City, TX; daughter, Tamara Zill Cassidy (Michael), West Haven, UT; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaugh-ter. Also surviving are four brothers and two sisters, Roy A. Skeen (Rena), Syracuse, Dan H. Skeen (Jodi), Hooper, Robert L. Skeen (Joyce), and Gilbert L. Skeen (Linda), both of Layton, Jean Reuber (George Marvin), Bountiful, and Barbara Challenger, Atwater, CA; brother-in-law, Richard T. Reeder, Eden; and sister-in-law, Tammy Skeen, Grand Junction, CO; and many loving nieces and nephews. Also surviving is the little alligator, Bandit the Poodle; and the cardplayers. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kelly Tyber Skeen; brothers, Michael W. Skeen and Raymond W. Skeen. Stanger, Elizabeth Jackson "Beth" Elizabeth "Beth" Jackson Stanger 1912 ~2004 Our much beloved grandmother, mother, aunt, and friend, Beth Jackson Stanger, age 89, passed away peacefully December 2, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was truly loved, and will be long remembered by everyone who knew her. Beth was born in Lehi, Utah October 17, 1912 to her parents William "Elmer" Jackson and Juliet Peterson Jackson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn "Jack" Mulliner Stanger. Beth is survived by her two sons, Nick Jon Stanger (Escondido, CA), and Scott Jackson Stanger (Salt Lake City); as well as her eight grandchildren, Jon Stanger (Escondido, CA), Nicole Stanger Davis, Daniel Stanger (Portland, OR), Eric Stanger (Fernley, NV), Karissa Stanger Mullen (Provo), Jeremy Stanger (Sacramento, CA), and Matthew Stanger (Salt Lake City); two nieces, Glenna Oldham (Lehi) and Julie Reese (Payson); and many great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Beth was an accomplished equestrian who rode competitively for years, as well as with The Silver Spurs riding club. Beth's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She was happiest at any celebration where she could dress up, wear a beautiful hat, and make the most of each day. As 55-year resident and honorary mayor of Walker Lane, she was a comfort and delight to so many who visited her regularly for her endless hospitality, her infectious laugh, and her indomitable, loving spirit. She suffered from Parkinson's devastating effects for many years, but her spirit could not be broken. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland to Thomas M.M. Lang and Agnes Flockton, November 7, 1932. She was an excellent homemaker in every way, she crocheted and knitted. Was a chorister in the 11th Ward Primary as well as librarian and she loved her garden. She had a smile that was heartwarming. Harriet is survived by her husband of 50 years, Hal Walton; children, Heather (John) Schoenfeld of Holladay, Utah, Richard (Carol) Walton of Salt Lake, Frances (Jay) Brummett of Salt Lake, and Scott Walton of Salt Lake; sisters, Agnes (John) McDiarmid of Alabama, Ina (John) Wilson of England, Christina Malmstrom of West Valley, and Rosemary (Clyde) Powell of Washington.
