Ruth B. Abbott 1922 ~ 2004  Richfield, Utah   Ruth Bytendorp Abbott, 82 of
Richfield, Utah, passed away December 20, 2004. She is wife of Thomas Robinson
Abbott; mother of Elliot (Pam) Abbott, Arvilla Outsen, Becky (Frank) Pettit;
sister of Ralph (Phyllis) Bytendorp, Lain (Donna) Bytendorp, Wanda Spade and

Ames, Elda S.
Elda S.Ames 1909 ~ 2004  Grace Elda Swainston Ames, 95, died December 20,
2004, after a short illness. She was the wife of Leorin W. Ames (deceased) and
the daughter of Ebenezer James Swainston and Harriet Ann Hughes (deceased).
Elda was born on September 18, 1909 in Marysville, Idaho. She was married to
Chester P. Call, with whom she had one daughter, Joan Kathleen Call Banks, who
preceded her in death. She later married Leorin W. Ames on May 29, 1951, and
was sealed to him in the Salt Lake Temple. They had one son, Carter S. Ames.
Elda graduated from the University of Utah College of Nursing, and was
employed as a Registered Nurse at L.D.S. Hospital for many years. She is
preceded in death by her husband, Leorin, daughter, Joan, parents and 12
siblings. She is survived by her son Carter, of Houston, Texas; her
grandchildren, Gordon C. Banks and Scott E. Banks of Salt Lake City, Utah;
Kathleen Banks Jeppesen of Alpine, Utah; and Jonathan C. Ames, Nicholas C.
Ames and Colin E. Ames, all of Houston, Texas.  Funeral Services will be held
Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the L.D.S. Kearns 16th Ward
Chapel, 4605 W. West Point Dr. The family will receive friends at a visitation
one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Ward. Interment: Valley View
Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South. Funeral Directors: Valley View Funeral
Home. The family requests that donations be made to the University of Utah
College of Nursing, Office of Development, 10 South 2000 East, Salt Lake City,

Booth, Ronald Keith
Ronald Keith Booth 7/25/47 ~ 12/21/04  Ronald Keith Booth, age 57, passed away
peacefully at his home on December 21, 2004.He was born on July 25, 1947 in
Murray, Utah to Keith and Norma Tripp Booth. He attended Hillcrest High School
and served a tour in Vietnam from 1967-1969. He was employed at Kennecott
Copper for 37 years and retired this year on January 1, 2004. On March 15,
1976, he married Emergene Leichtle; they resided in Sandy, Utah for 28 years.
Ron had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed spending his time camping,
fishing, and hunting. When at home he enjoyed tying flies for his fishing
trips. He is survived by his wife, Emergene; daughters, Jodi (Karl)
Braithwaite, Lisa (John) Bair, Stefanie Booth; five grandsons and one
granddaughter; parents, Keith and Norma; sisters, Linda (Gary) Jackson, Sandra
Matthews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Booth. He was truly
loved by all and will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held Friday,
December 24, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at the Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where
friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. or Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment,
Midvale City Cemetery. A special thanks to Dr. Margaret Yu and her staff at
the VA Hospital.

Defa, Ricky Todd
Ricky Todd Defa Loving Father  & Friend  Ricky Todd Defa, 44, passed away on a
beautiful, sunny morning in the mountains above Heber, Utah on Tuesday, Dec.
21, 2004.  He was born July 24, 1960, to Basil Defa and Marjorie Lewis in Salt
Lake City. He was married to Elaina Maria Bonomo. When remembering Rick,
think: golf and more golf, hunting, fishing, four wheeling, Tabby Mountain,
his trailer, baseball, basketball, The JAZZ, The PACKERS, his dog Buddy and
hanging out with his friends. He was a dedicated baseball and football coach
serving both his children and the community of Kearns for more than 12 years.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years; two sons, Nicholas Rick and Austin
Basil; his parents; brother, Kenny B.; and sisters, DeeAnn Defa and Sherry
Lynn (Art) Haro, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. His
grandparents preceded him in death.  His fight was courageous.  We invite you
to honor and celebrate his enduring smile, laugh and his memory at his funeral
service which will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 12 noon at Larkin
Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, where friends may call on
Wednesday from 6 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Thursday. Interment
will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.  The family would like to thank
Hospice of Utah for their care.

Farrer, Kenneth Charles
Kenneth Charles Farrer Educator  Kenneth Charles Farrer, 86, left this life on
Sunday, December 19, 2004 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on June 20, 1918 in
Murray, Utah to Charles Cook Farrer and Laura Jennet Elg. Sisters were Sylva
Hughes, Viola Farrer, Gladys Schmidutz, Beatrice Hansen, Lois Hall, and
Barbara Farrer. All of them preceded him in death. Daily life was a struggle
for the family. His father was afflicted with black lung - the result of
working in the smelter in Murray. The family operated a hamburger and root
beer stand on State Street in Murray during the summer to help them survive
the winters. Dad, through hard work and sacrifices on his family's part,
earned BS and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Utah and an MS from UC
Berkeley. Dad met mother, Jane Tolman Dibble, when they were both teaching
school in Minersville, Utah. She played the piano and he the violin. They made
music together for over 50 years. They married March 10, 1944 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. Dad and mother taught for a short time at the Japanese Relocation
Camp in Topaz, Utah. It was an experience that profoundly affected both of
them. Dad also taught in Milford, Utah and at Davis High School in Kaysville,
Utah; was an administrator for years in the Granite School District (He was
the first principal at Central Junior High School and Olympus High School),
the Long Beach, California School District, and the Los Angeles County School
District. He served on the LDS Church Board of Education for the Polynesian
Islands. He was a professor of education at Utah State University for over 30
years. He loved teaching, his students, and the other professionals with whom
he worked. A member of the Logan 24th Ward of the LDS Church for many years,
Dad enjoyed teaching the High Priests and Sunday School classes and delighted
in leading the singing at sacrament meetings. Mother accompanied on the organ.
Mother died April 9, 1999 in Logan, Utah. Dad has been intensely lonely
without her. He is survived by daughters Kathryn (Gary Parnell, Spring City,
Utah); Martha (Craig Hale, Providence, Utah); Janet (Dick Dresher, Bountiful,
Utah); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Carmen Dibble
(Layton, Utah) and Cleo Dibble (Washington, DC); and brother-in-law, Ben
Dibble (Scottsdale, Arizona). Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon
Thursday, December 23, 2004 at the Kaysville/Layton Memorial Cemetery, 500
East Crestwood (about 450 North), Kaysville. The family requests no flowers.

Fisher, Janyce Patterson
Janyce Patterson Fisher 8/29/29 ~ 12/20/04  Jan passed away in the early
morning hours on December 20, 2004. After a long illness, she left peacefully
while asleep to return to her Heavenly family. Born August 29, 1929 to William
J. and Aurora Call Pattterson. She married for 52 years to her choice husband,
Bob in the Salt Lake City Temple. The mother of four, she is dearly missed,
but the legacy of her life will carry on and be with us always. Jan graduated
from East High School and the University of Utah. Education and music were
central themes in her life; she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega and Mu Phi
Epsilon sororities. Of greatest importance to her were her family, her Church
and her testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ. She loved family activities and
outings, and took great pleasure in attending her grandchildren's recitals and
other performances. She was actively involved in Church service with many
responsibilities over the years, including serving as a hostess at the Beehive
House and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and as a member of the Young
Women's General Board and the General Music Committee. Janyce is survived by
her husband, Robert E. Fisher; two sisters, Joyce Brown (Elden) and Claudia
Summerhays (Philip), one brother, William K. Patterson (Joyce); four children,
Robert Fisher (Julie), Robyn F. Airmet, Rebecca Hayward (Paul), and Steven
Fisher (Daren Young); by 11 grandchildren and by four great-grand- children. 
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Ensign Peak Ward Chapel, 125 E. North Sandrun Road. A viewing will be held
Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and
at the Ward Chapel from 10-10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Salt
Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Janyce
Fisber's name to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund, 50 East North
Temple, SLC, UT 84150

Gary Lee Heugly 10/10/44 ~ 12/18/04  Gary Heugly born to Carole Strong and the
late Joseph Lee Heugly passed away at home unexpectedly.  He survived two
separate bouts of cancer and was cancer free at the time of his death. He
enjoyed being around his family and being in the out doors.  He was employed
as a produce clerk at Krogers/Smith's.  He is survived by his mother, son
Brian (Leisha), daughter, Tracy (Todd) Woffinden, grandchildren, Brennan,
Leif, West and TreaLee, brothers, David John (Barbara), Joseph Curt (Margie),
sisters, Carol Ann (Steve) Barton, Linda (Leland) Jensen. Funeral services
will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2004, at 12:00 noon in the LDS Ward
building at 1050 E. Galena Dr. (9800 S.) in Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be
held at the LDS Ward building on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from
11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery. Director Independent

Jensen, Helen Royce Gardiner
Helen Royce Gardiner Jensen 1939 ~ 2004  Our mother, Helen Royce Gardiner
Jensen, passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2004. Helen was born
July 16, 1939 to Roy Hughes and Mildred Camp Gardiner. She married her
sweetheart, LeRoy M. Jensen on February 16, 1961. They were later sealed for
time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.  Helen attended Cyprus High
School, was a student body officer, and participated in many school
activities. She worked as a certified legal secretary, as well an Avon
consultant, and at KFC and Francesco's Restaurant. She was very active in the
community. She served in various leadership positions in the Granger Lions,
and participated in local politics. She was an active member of the L.D.S.
Church, and attended countless sporting events in support of her children and
grandchildren. Her warm personality and ability to interact with people, as
well as her caring nature and contagious laugh made her a great friend to all
who knew her. She loved movies, sports, TV, and a good joke. She was a true
Cougar and Jazz fan. She also has a special love for animals, especially her
dogs. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, LeRoy, her
daughter, Lynne, her parents, sisters, Margie and Evada, and her
granddaughter, Reagan. She is survived by her children, Royce (Ed) Failner,
Keith (Edie) Jensen, Michael (Stacie) Jensen, and Stacey Jensen (John Tall),
her sister, Stella and her grandchildren, Andy, Matt, Austin, Lindsay, Jeniece
and McKenna Failner, Derek, Jayce, Karlee and Kalli Jensen, and Mick, Ryan,
Josh, and Kendyll Jensen and her beloved Rusty. Funeral Services will be held
Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Granger 23rd Ward, 2850 West
3835 South. The family will receive friends at a viewing held Wednesday
evening from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and
one hour prior to the funeral service at the 23rd Ward House. Interment:
Redwood Memorial Estates. Mama- You Were Our Everything! Although time may
pass, the memories we shared will never fade. The legacy you left and the love
you gave made this world a better place. Although our hearts are saddened, we
find comfort knowing you are at home, in peace with Dad.

May McGhie 1911 ~ 2004  May Rieck McGhie passed away Dec. 20, 2004.  She was
born to William John and Lola Curtis Rieck, Aug. 20, 1911 in Kenilworth, Utah.
She married Vere B. McGhie; he preceded her in death. She is survived by a
son, Ernest Edwards of Salt Lake City; a sister, Wanda Burdette; and several
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Ballou and a
brother, Bill Rieck. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004
at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the Larkin
Mortuary, 260 E. So. Temple Thursday 10:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the
family suggests donations be made to The Make a Wish Foundation.

Meadows, Elmer Charles
Elmer CharlesMeadows "Gone to the Cabin" 1923 ~ 2004  Our beloved husband,
father and grandfather, Elmer Charles Meadows, age 81, passed from this mortal
existence on December 20, 2004 at Alta View Hospital.Elmer was born July 15,
1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles Ambrose and Sarah Leone Florence
Meadows. Elmer married Glenna Willis on August 15, 1947 in Vernal, Utah. The
marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 8, 1953. He
grew up on the Willow Creek in Uintah County. He attended a school in a
one-room schoolhouse before moving to Salt Lake where he attended and
graduated from South High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the European
and Asiatic Pacific Theaters during World War II. He attended and graduated
from Stevens-Henager Business College where he was a student body officer. He
was a long time employee of Mountain Fuel Supply Company (Questar) and served
on the Board of Directors of the Utah C.V. Credit Union (Utah First) for many
years.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in
the Butler 2nd Ward for 46 years where he served in numerous capacities
including home teacher and ward clerk. He was a High Priest. He is presently a
member of the Crescent Ridge 6th Ward and was most recently serving as a
temple worker at the Jordan River Temple.  Dad loved to spend time with his
family, by hunting, camping and spending time at the cabin in Duchesne County.
Christmas was always his favorite time of year. He loved to spoil his children
and grandchildren. We are grateful for the example set by our husband, father
and grandfather. He truly was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all
who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Glenna
and eight children - Connie (Wade) Jewkes, James (Terri) Meadows, Brenda (Jim)
Hill, Brent (Jolene) Meadows, Cynthia (Jody) Davis, Bill (Nikki) Meadows, Mark
(Andrea) Meadows, Laura Meadows. He is also survived by posterity of 29
grandchildren and 13 great-grand-children. He is additionally survived by
three brothers - Lee, Harry and Dan, and by two sisters- Thelma Miller, and
Elva Vilart. His dogs, Winston and Harley, and Glenna's cats whom he tolerated
also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother
James.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 at the Crescent
Ridge Stake Center, 1265 E. 11000 S. at 12 noon with a viewing from 10-11:30
a.m. A viewing will be held on Wed., December 22, 2004 at the Mountain View
Memorial Estates mortuary 6-8 p.m., located at 3115 E. 7800 S. Interment will
be in the Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.

Faith Neria 12/16/04~12/19/04  Faith Neria, infant daughter of Hipa and
Marilee Neria, returned home on December 19, 2004, to be with her loving
Heavenly Father and her Grandpa Carl. Faith was born with her twin sister Hope
on December 16, 2004, on their sister Toafia's 7th birthday. Thank you Faith,
for lessons learned. Your sweet spirit has touched our lives and we will
always remember you. You are a true example of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Survived by parents, Hipa and Marilee Neria; sisters Lexie, Toafia, and Hope;
brothers, Nick and Malosi; grandma Carolyn Baggett, grandparents Semo and
Carla Neria; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death
by her grandpa Carl Baggett. Graveside services for Faith will be held
Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 at 11 am at the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580

David CoxRees 1915 ~ 2004  WALES, UT: David Cox Rees, 89, died Dec. 20, 2004
of natural causes.  Born May 4, 1915 to David Price and Elvira Melissa Cox
Rees in Wales, UT. Married Ada Louise Ruesch on June 6, 1945 in the Manti
Temple. They had four children, Carolyn (Karl) Christensen of Ephraim, UT;
Frank (Dorothy) Rees of Clinton, UT; Mary Ann (Richard) Nielsen of St. George,
UT; Roger (Rebecca) Rees of Wales, UT; nine grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. He was a life long farmer and rancher. President of
Cattlemen's Association and president of Irrigation Co. A member of the LDS
Church. He served in church callings including as a member of bishopric.
Preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Hilda Ann Rees, Ona Rees and
Myrtle Rees. Survived by his wife, children and two brothers, Merril (Emma)
Rees of Big Piney, WY; Newell (Eunice) Rees of Wales, UT. Funeral services
will be Thurs, Dec. 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the LDS Chapel in Wales. Friends
may call Wed. from 6-8 p.m. and Thurs. from 12:30-1:30 p.m. both at the church
in Wales. Interment in the Wales Town Cemetery under the direction of 
Rasmussen Mortuary.

Runnells, Patsy Ann
Patsy Ann Runnells 1935 ~ 2004 Patsy Ann Runnells, age 69, died Sunday,
December 19, 2004 at her home in Mesquite, Nevada.  She was born June 27, 1935
in Huntington Park, California to Helmer Henderson and Beatrice Helen Jacobs
Jensen. She graduated from high school and attended business school. She
married Ronald L. Runnells on November 28, 1970 in Tucson, Arizona.  Patsy had
lived in California, Colorado, Kansas, Germany and Arizona before moving to
Mesquite. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and had served honorably in many church callings. She was a
dedicated genealogist and had helped and instructed many people over the
years. Patsy and Ronald served two missions for the LDS Church: Fiji Suva
Mission and the Tennessee Nashville Mission. She had worked as a secretary and
was a devoted homemaker. Patsy is survived by her husband, Ronald, of
Mesquite, Nevada; her two sons, David Runnells of Orem, Utah and Christopher
Runnells of Orlando, Florida; her seven daughters, Dana Barlow of Phoenix,
Arizona, Marta Beaudry of Payson, Utah, Dawn Bernard of Reno, Nevada, Jill
Blair of Hickman, Nebraska, Jean Bond of Orem, Utah, Lori Knudsen of Mesquite,
Nevada, and Rhonda Melvin of Sandy, Utah. She is also survived by 27
grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Patsy was preceded in death by her
parents and one brother, Roger Steele. Funeral services will be held at 2:30
p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at the Mesquite LDS Stake Center, 121
North Arrowhead Lane in Mesquite.  Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior
at the Stake Center.  Interment. Mesquite City Cemetery under the direction of
Virgin Valley Mortuary, 702-346-6060.

Schmidt, Reeda Meyer
Reeda Meyer Schmidt 1921 ~ 2004  Reeda M. Schmidt, age 83, died Dec. 19, 2004
in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born March 17, 1921 in Salt Lake City to William
Henry and Louise Lydia Gertsch Meyer. Married Ralph W. Schmidt, who preceded
her in death on June 12, 1991. Worked for many years at Woolworth's Department
Store, then helped run Ralph W. Schmidt Construction, as well as being a
full-time wife, and mother of three sons.  She is survived by Dennis and
Gerry, Michael and Connie, Ron and Debbie Schmidt; eight grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence J. and Willie S.
Meyer; sisters, Florence Meyer, Ella M. Rees, Lydia M. Duffin, and Lillian M.
Petersen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at
11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan.

Tanner, Molly Ann Patocka
Molly Ann Patocka Tanner 1975 ~ 2004  Molly Ann Patocka Tanner, 29, returned
to her Heavenly Father on December 20th, 2004, after a long and courageous
battle with breast cancer. Molly was born June 27, 1975 in Murray Utah. She
married Kris Tanner on Feb. 14, 1997, and they were sealed in the Jordan River
Temple with their children on November 6, 2004. Molly's life was full of
compassion and love for everyone around her. She worked as a Nanny and a CNA
before she became ill. She served in the Deaf Ward and she was a wonderful
wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She was our Morning Star. She is survived

Young, Dean Arthur
Dean Arthur Young 1/23/30 ~ 12/19/04   Born January 23, 1930 in Provo, Utah.
Passed away peacefully December 19, 2004 with family present.  Third son of
Ray Warriner Young and Elizabeth Clarissa Clark Young. Grew up in Blanding,
Utah and Cut Bank, Montana. Graduated from the University of Utah and attended
BYU. Served a mission for the LDS Church in Brazil. His love of cars led him
to a career as a car dealer. He also owned and maintained several apartment
buildings in the Salt Lake area. He loved to travel and took many road trips
in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico with his family. He also took many cruises to
several countries around the world. He was an entertaining and humorous
storyteller and enjoyed Civil War and LDS history. He was a man of integrity
with a remarkable work ethic taught to him by his mother. He was very kind and
charitable. His quiet determination and sense of humor were legendary to those
who knew him. He loved his family foremost and was an excellent role model and
an inspiration to his children.  Dean is survived by five children: Kristi
Young, Rebecca Young, Pamela Tangren (Brent), Spencer Young, and Alicia Young;
nine grandchildren; two brothers: Lavern Young, Robert Young (Betty); one
sister, Norma Rae Hemsley (Arthur). Funeral services will be held Thursday,
Dec. 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Val Verda 4th Ward, 2633 S. 50 W.,
Bountiful. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin
Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and at the ward Thursday one hour prior to
services. Interment, Bountiful Lakeview Memorial Estates.
