She was born in a log cabin on September 18, 1903 in Lovell, Wyoming, to Robert John Bischoff and Rose Ann Jensen, who were called as pioneers to the Big Horn Basin area of Wyoming, and married June 4, 1925 in the Salt Lake temple to Clinton M. Black. They enjoyed a romance of 64 years before his death in 1989. She loved learning, teaching and writing. After graduating at the top of her high school class in Lovell, she attended the University of Wyoming and taught school for several years. After age 60 she wrote histories of three communities: "Under Granger Skies," "Proud of Kearns," and "Lovell, our Pioneer Heritage." She also authored nine other books (histories of family members, friends, and ancestors). She was an accomplished thespian who was invited to give book reviews and talks, and she entertained family and others with animated readings. She had a lifelong commitment to the gospel and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many church positions, including teaching in every organization, president of the Relief Society, Primary, Young Women, and as stake Relief Society counselor. She loved history and served as an instructor and officer in DUP for many years. She and her husband served two missions together 1971-73, Australia East; 1975-77, Nauvoo Restoration with a special assignment to the Carthage Jail. Their love for education and missionary work was communicated to her descendants, who have served 40 missions for the Church and obtained 81 college degrees. She was honored in 1969 as an Alternate Mother of the Year for Utah, as Mrs. Kearns by the Kearns Town Council in 1993, and in 2001 with the Utah Democratic Party's Eleanor Roosevelt award for a lifetime of service. Her mind was keen and active, and she found joy and peace through her positive outlook and counting her many blessings, in spite of health challenges. She loved beautiful music, and played the piano for church and for her family from her girlhood until into her 90s. She took great solace in the scriptures and uplifting literature. She will be remembered for her deep and genuine love for all around her, for her sense of humor, her generosity and deep-seated goodness. She could speak out forcefully though when she perceived injustice or error. She took great joy and pride in "my grand family," which includes eight children, 32 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 100 great grandchildren, and numerous "adopted children." Her children would like to acknowledge their great love and admiration for her, for the example she set, the sacrifices she made for us, the happy home she and our father built, in spite of lean times and difficulties, and for the unconditional love and respect they freely gave us. She was with us for the last time on 19 Dec 2004, Sun. On that day her family enjoyed visiting with her as they did every Sunday for the last many years. There was no indication until she fainted and never regained consciousness late Sunday evening that her time was short. We all expected to have her company for several more years. She was born in Lovell, Wyoming on 15 Sept 1934 in Wyoming to Parker Emanuel and Wilhelmine Heiss Thomas and was the second oldest of six children. At age 18, her family moved to Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Darla Farha and Nora Thomas. She is survived by her three brothers Delano Thomas of Provo, Yale Thomas of Salt Lake City and David Thomas of North Salt Lake, her four children Curtis Blanco, Lisa Steed, Robert Blanco and Dana Cowles, eight grandchildren, loved ones and friends. We miss her very much. Charmaine graduated from BYU with a degree in education. She eventually moved to Bountiful where she resided for approximately 40 years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is sealed to her children. Charmaine had a special talent with children and people in general. As a grade school teacher for many years, her students regularly scored among the top in the Davis County School district and she was often asked by parents after her students graduated from her classes if she would teach the next higher grade the next year so her students could have her again the next year. She had a genuine love and respect for all her students, especially the students that other teachers and people considered to be problem students. The children excelled and wanted to do well in her class because they felt her genuine love. People felt comfortable around Charmaine, many people liked to tell her their problems and discuss their life situation with her. She received many phone calls and visitors helping people in this way. Charmaine loved spending time with and doing fun things with her grandchildren. There were girls nights out that she spent with granddaughters where they would spend time together and do fun things. There were boys nights out with the several grandsons where she would take them bowling. The children were always excited when she came to pick them up. Charmaine has a special place in her children's hearts because of the love and memorable times she gave to the grandchildren. We are all richer for having known her and we look forward to seeing her again and having her association when we too pass to the other side. "Wayne" Dyer has shown up with his fishing rod. Wayne passed away peacefully in his sleep with his beloved sweetheart, Jaunelle, by his side. Wayne was born on May 18, 1939, to Otis "T" and Myrl Dyer. On May 3, 1958, he married Jaunelle Pinkerton the sassiest girl in the class of '57. They "spawned" 3 kids, Phil, Tonya, and Michele, who often gave them "fits and starts" but the days growing up always ended with a smile. When Wayne graduated with a degree in Physics from Henderson State Teacher's College in Arkadelphia, Ark., he joined the Army and honorably served his country as an officer in the Signal Corps. After completing his tour of duty (including 14 months in South Korea), Wayne received an honorable discharge to pursue a new career of public service with the Federal Govt. and chose to move his family in 1967 to Dugway. Wayne then began a successful 34 year career as a dedicated civil servant. Upon retirement in 2001, he was awarded the Commander's Award for Civilian Service by the Dept. of the Army. Since Wayne retired, he and Jaunelle have traveled, camped outdoors, fished and debated politics. Wayne was a dignified, noble and honorable gentleman. His integrity was beyond reproach, although his opinions were strongly held, and he rarely wavered, he always listened and respected those who might disagree with his views. His gentleness was always on the surface, but he was tough to the core. A "man's man" who always cared for his family and friends. The world is a much better place because of his all too brief time in this existence. Wayne is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jaunelle, and their children Phil Dyer (Debra), Tonya Elkington (Steve) and Michele Medina (Mike). Wayne was blessed with 5 grandchildren James W. "J.W." Richard was the third of ten children born to Fred and Lynn Schroader on April 13, 1961. He spent his childhood in Farmington and Kaysville, graduating from Davis High School in 1979. After serving a mission in Paris, France, Richard married Tacy Larkins with whom he had two wonderful children, Katie and Nathan. In 1991, he married Leslie Wells, instantly making her three young children-- Nick, Lauren and Ryan-- his own. These experiences were some of the highlights of Richard's life, and the friends he made through these experiences were some of the best and most important friendships he had.
