Aldous, Linda
Linda Aldous 1946 - 2004  Linda Aldous, beloved daughter, sister and friend
passed away suddenlyof heart failure on December 22, 2004.  She was born on
Dec. 9, 1946 daughter of Charles Aldous (deceased) and Betty Lou Escandon. In
her early career she was a very qualified licensed optician practicing in Salt
Lake, Washington, D.C. and Las Vegas. Linda later became employed by Highland
Ridge hospital where she worked for 18 years, and was currently the "After
Care Director". Linda was very proficient in her work. Her love, her
compassion and her understanding of those she had contact with touched many
lives around the country. She loved to work in her yard and spend time in
Puerto Vallerta, Mexico where she had just returned from vacation. She is
survived by her parents, Betty Lou and Frank (Papa San) Jackson; sister,
Claudia (Mark) Wilson; brothers, David Aldous, Keith (Nancy) Jackson and an
adoring family of cousins, nieces and nephews, two special Aunts, Helen and
Janice. She leaves her sweet little dog and loving companion, Morgan. A
celebration of Linda's life will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South
Highland Drive on Wednesday, December 29th at 1:00 PM. Please come if you can
and help us pay tribute to this remarkable woman. Interment will be at Wasatch
Lawn Memorial Park. The love we share will always keep us close  for no matter
where a daughter is, she is always at home in the hearts of those who love

Allison, Catherine Beatrice Gardner
Catherine Beatrice Gardner Allison 1919 ~ 2004  Catherine Beatrice Gardner
Allison, age 85, passed away on December 26, 2004 in Salt Lake City.  She was
born January 10, 1919, in Provo, Utah to Silver Glenn Gardner and Zina
Beatrice Rawlings. She graduated from Helper High School and LDS Business
College. She married Alex James Allison on October 4, 1941 , later sealed in
Salt Lake Temple on February 19, 1968. She is preceded in death by her husband
and daughter. She is survived by her daughter Alexis Christianson (Harlow),
her five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and her sister LaRaine
Malaska.  She worked as Treasurer of the Wycott Credit Union. She served in
Young Women's Organization for many years. She was the Compassionate Service
Leader in Relief Society. She spent many years bowling and dancing with her
husband. She enjoyed cooking for family and watching Jazz games. She will be
happy to be able to see her husband and daughter again. A Viewing will be held
Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland, from 5:30
to 7:00 p.m. with a short funeral service to follow. Interment will be
Thursday in Helper, Utah.  We want to thank the Wentworth Assisted Living
staff for the care and love they showed Catherine.

Andersen, Oscar
Oscar Andersen 1909 ~2004  Oscar Andersen died December the 26, 2004 in Salt
Lake City. He was born the 30th of December 1909 in Odense Denmark to Anders
Martin Andersen and Marie Nielsine Jorgine Jensen. He married Else Grethe
Rasmussen in Copenhagen on the 29th of August 1936. The marriage was
solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on the 8th of February 1952. He emigrated
from Denmark to the USA in 1950 with his wife and son Vagn-Oluf. He was
preceded in death by his wife, father and mother, and two brothers Theodor and
Tage.  Oscar was trained as a machinist, and tool and dye maker in Denmark. In
Utah he worked at McGee and Hogan Machine shop, May Foundry and Machine shop,
and Thiokol. Since his retirement at age 70 he had been providing care for and
helped many friends. He had an inquisitive mind, always reading and studying.
He loved astronomy and spent many hours gazing at the galaxies with his large
telescope at Little Mountain and Stansbury Park. He was an avid target
marksman. In his younger days he played the violin and mandolin. He could fix
anything, and was always taking things apart and putting them back together.
He is survived by his son Vagn-Oluf (Ingelise), four grandchildren, Tina
Edwards, Katie Jones (Robert), Mark (Kaylene), Lars Martin (Crystal), 11
great-grandchildren all of Salt Lake City, and one brother-in-law Frithiof
Clausen of Willard, Utah. He is loved and missed. He leaves a lonely spot in
the hearts of his friends and family, and especially his good friend Nada
Moaremoff. We wish to express gratitude and appreciation to the individuals at
Christus St. Joseph's Villa for their professional, tender and caring kindness
to him and the family while he was in their care. Services will be held at the
Larkin Mortuary at 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City at 3 p.m. on Wednesday,
Dec. 29, 2004. Viewing will be from 1:45-2:45 on the day of service. Interment
will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 3401 S. Highland Dr.

Baird, Shanti Georgeanne Donna
Shanti Georgeanne Donna Baird  September 3, 1980  In the home where she was
born and in the presence of many of her loved ones on Christmas eve, Shanti
knew it was finally safe to release the confusion and pain that had tormented
her for so long and allowed her soul to graduate.  Throughout her life, she
radiated a huge capacity to love, care for and nurture her family and friends.
Shanti, the Sanskrit word for Peace, loved surprises, beautiful expressions of
creativity, mystical places, and someone to share it with - most often
laughing, playing and cleverly scheming with her best girlfriend or the niece
and nephews who brought her so much joy. She is precious to and loved by her
daddy, George, mom, Tawakul; brothers, Jay (Kayleen), Robert, Bryan (Wendi),
Craig, and Colton Eatchel; sisters, Margret Chatelain (Edward), Krysti Blask
(Steven), Gabriel Garding, and Christen Eatchel; all of their children, aunts,
uncles and cousins; her best girlfriend, Sara; and her little doggie, Yoshi.
As Christmas Eve turned to Christmas morn, she became a shining sun whose
brightness will continue to warm our hearts forever. A celebration of her life
will take place on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 300 E.
South Temple, Salt Lake City. A viewing will precede on Wednesday, Dec 29 from
7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 1-2 p.m. The family requests that if desired,
donations may be made in her memory to Larkin mortuary. Interment: Salt Lake
City Cemetery.

Bateson, Dix Grant "Gramps"
Dix Grant Bateson "Gramps" LOGAN - Dix Grant Bateson, 84, devoted husband,
father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully of natural
causes on Dec. 27, 2004 surrounded by his family.  Born June 2, 1920 in Logan,
Utah to Arthur Grant and Eleanor Carter Bateson. He grew up in Logan, Utah
graduating from Logan High School in 1939. Married Agnes Ingaborg Hansen June
20, 1943; solemnized August 28, 1963 in the Logan Temple. They were blessed
with three sons, Bradford Dix, Barton Grant and Ted Hans (died in infancy).
She passed away September 25, 1965 from Multiple Sclerosis. Dix lovingly cared
for her for 10 years. He was a member of the Utah National Guard, retiring as
a captain. Served during World War II in the Pacific Theater and in The Korean
Conflict. Also a member of the American Legion. On June 11, 1966 he married
Vonda Crook Lindberg; later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Vonda had one son,
Bryan (Sue) from a previous marriage. Dix and Vonda moved to Idaho Falls,
Idaho in 1967 and started D & S Auto Parts where he worked with his sons, Brad
and Bart until 1977 when he and Vonda moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. He was
Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge in Idaho Falls. Vonda passed away December 23,
1993 from cancer. Dix was devoted to her care and comfort for the last six
months of her life. He was a wonderful grandpa taking his kids and grandkids
on fishing trips to Lake Powell, Hawaii and Disneyland. He was an avid golfer,
hunter and fisherman.  On Nov 5, 1994 he married Betty Jean Erskine in the
Salt Lake Temple. They then moved to St. George, Utah. He was a faithful
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many
callings. Survived by wife, Betty; sons, Brad (Beverly) and Bart (Ronda);
stepson, Bryan (Sue); grandchildren, Tamara (Blair), Brook (Mieka), Cody
(April), Jason (Lisa), Matt (Robbie); step grandson, Jonathan; five
great-grand children; brothers, Don Bateson. Preceded in death by brothers,
John A. Bateson; and Louis C. Bateson (died in infancy) He had a wonderful
sense of humor, always the life of the party. He was lovingly known by his
family as "Pops" and "Gramps". On October 31, 2004 we brought him from St.
George back home to Logan where he resided at Williamsburg Assisted Living.
His only granddaughter, Tamara, was his loving care giver for the last two
months of his life. We will all miss him so much.  The family expresses thanks
to the staff and workers at Williamsburg Assisted Living, Heritage Brookside
Home Health Care and Alpine Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec 29, 2004, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal
Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, where friends may
call, 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.

Bennett, Nellie Melva Hicken
Nellie Melva Hicken Bennett 1907 ~ 2004  On December 25, 2004, at the age of
97, Nellie Melva Hicken Bennett passed away peacefully in Heber City, Utah. 
Nellie was born Feb 23, 1907 to John H. Hicken and Isabelle H. Hicken. Nellie
married Claude S. Bennett in Bisbee, Arizona on May 30, 1937. She has missed
him since he preceded her in death on March 13, 1975. Nellie was a faithful
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a sweet
testimony. Nellie graduated from Brigham Young University for a teaching
certificate and a degree in home economics. She influenced many as she taught
school in the Wasatch School District for over 20 years. Nellie was an expert
seamstress, quilter, made beautiful crochet and tatting. She loved genealogy
and family history. Nellie loved to travel. She was famous for her pot roast
and German chocolate cake. Nellie is survived by her son Paul (Karen) Bennett
and daughter Marie (Ashley) Fish; grandchildren Monica (Chris) Patch, four
children; Natalie (Stephen) Thompson, two children; Brad (Angela) Bennett;
Nicole Bennett; Megan Bennett; Brett (Darcy) Fish, four children; Chad Fish;
Ginger (James) Coleman; Todd Fish, one child; Tyler (Caren) Fish, one child;
Holly (Courtney) Beck; Brady Fish; and Abbey Fish. A special thank you to the
Rocky Mountain Care Center in Heber for their tender loving care of our mom
and grandma. Funeral services will be held Wed., December 29, 2004, at 12:00
noon, in the Heber City 3rd Ward Chapel, 240 E. 400 S. Friends and family may
call Tues. evening, December 28, from 6-8 p.m. at the Heber City 3rd Ward
Chapel and 10:00-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Internment, Heber City
Cemetery. Funeral Services under the Direction of Alternative Society of Utah,
Mortuary/Crematorium.

Bilyeu, Ruth Margaret
Ruth Margaret Bilyeu 1920 ~ 2004  Ruth Margaret Bilyeu, 84, passed away
Christmas Eve, December 24, 2004, after 3« years of lingering health problems.
She is finally happy and content with her best friend and twin brother, Ralph.
Ruth was born January 4, 1920, followed immediately by her beloved twin
brother, Ralph. Their parents were John "Jack" Rogers and Margaret Annie
Woods. The twins were one of 15 sets of twins at Forest School and they later
graduated from South High School in June, 1937. Ruth was an office worker for
Portland Cement as well as Little Lake School District in California where she
loved her work. She married Lile T. Bilyeu, May 17, 1954. Ruth lived in
Denver, Colorado and Downey, California. After retiring, Ruth moved back to
Salt Lake City with her husband, Lile, May, 1987. Ruth loved to travel and
visited Vancouver, Canada, Alaska, Acapulco, Martinique, Cartegena, the Greek
Islands, Aruba, Switzerland and the U.K. She was an avid sports fan,
especially enjoying her adored Dodgers as well as the Jazz. In the fall, you
would find Ruth glued to the TV to bask in the excitement of the World Series.
She read thousands of books and loved Christmas. Ruth is survived by Barbara
Peterson (Lee) niece, Beverly Whitehead (Ted) niece, and Alan R. Rogers
(Marsha) nephew. Ruth was a fighter, never complaining. She was a sweet and
gentle lady whose first concern was for the needs of others. Special thanks to
Highland Care Center for their loving care of Ruth this past 3« years,
especially Marie, Angie, Misty, Joann and the many others she loved. Goodbye
Aunt Ruth, we love you, and give Dad a kiss from all of us. A brief memorial
service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland
Drive on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, with interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial
Park to follow.

Bowler, Etheleen Shell
Etheleen Shell Bowler 1916 ~ 2004   Etheleen Anderson Shell Bowler, age 88,
passed away from complications of terminal cancer Dec. 26, 2004 at her
daughter Judy's home in Richfield, Utah. Besides her daughter and son-in-law
Neal, all of her grandchildren and great-grand-children were present to give
loving support during the last days of her life. Etheleen was born August 9,
1916 in Mayfield, Sanpete County, Utah. She graduated from South High in Salt
Lake City. She married Kenneth Ray Shell, April 26, 1937 in Sparks, Nevada.
Sealing ordinances were later performed in the St. George LDS temple. Ken died
January 31, 1985. She married Marion Bowler in Gunlock, Utah on August 15,
1987, and they shared happy years together. He died February 25, 1998.
Etheleen will be remembered for many qualities, particularly her love of
people, a love amply returned to her. For many years she worked as a greeter
in the St. George LDS Temple and enjoyed putting her arms around people and
welcoming them to the temple. She was at ease with people of all ages from her
small great-grandchildren to the teenage ones, to her contemporary friends,
"the girls." She frequently helped neighbors. She had a keen sense of humor
and was fond of sharing anecdotes with friends and family. She was always
stylish and meticulous in her dress, taking pride in her appearance. She was
graceful and beautiful, yet spunky and strong. She played golf until she was
86, and won the championship at the Red Hills golf course in St. George four
times. She also played in the Dixie Classic golf tournament several years with
her second husband Marion. Over her lifetime, she had three holes-in-one.
Etheleen was a superb homemaker. Excellent meals, a peaceful atmosphere, good
conversation, and loving hospitality were the order of the day in her home.
Though she was always welcome in her daughter's home and in the homes of her
grandchildren, she liked the independence of living alone in her later years.
Etheleen lived in St. George for over 30 years, moving there from California
with her husband Ken when he retired. She traveled to many interesting places
with her family, including Japan, Germany, New Zealand, the Caribbean,
Scandinavia, and the Mediterranean. She is survived by her daughter Judy
(Neal) Busk; five grandchildren: Kerri (Brad) Nielsen, Kirsten (Russell)
Hendry, Chris (Becca) Busk, Jeremy (Maren) Busk, and Noelle (Ryan) Ringel; as
well as nine great-grandchildren: Kamis, Marissa, Logan, and Torrey Nielsen;
Anne and Adam Hendry; Mayen and Emery Etheleen Busk; and Zachary Ringel. She
was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Linda Anderson, and her
sisters, Blanche Christiansen, Delma Miller, and Thelma Ash; and by her
brothers, Glen, LaMar, and Royal Anderson. Her younger brother, Ted (Phyllis)
Anderson, resides in Campbell, California.  The funeral will be Thursday,
December 30, at noon at the Fifth Ward Chapel in St. George, 85 South 400
East. Viewings will be Wednesday evening, December 29, from 6 to 8 at Metcalf
Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, and at the church one hour prior to
services. Interment and graveside services will be at noon on Friday, December
31, at Lake Hills Cemetery, 10055 South State in Sandy. If desired, donations
can be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, 2000 Circle of Hope Dr. #5127,
Salt Lake City, UT 84112-5550.

Brunson Sr., Max E.
Max E. Brunson Sr.1911 ~ 2004  Max Ellot Brunson Sr., 93, passed way at his
home in Logan Sunday December 26, 2004 from complications due to a stroke. He
was born June 18, 1911 to Peter Lorenzo Brunson and Clarinda Altana McCullogh
Brunson in Fillmore, Utah. He was the youngest of 11 children, all who have
preceded him in death. He graduated from Millard high School in Fillmore as
Senior Class President. Max served a "home mission" for the LDS Church in
Scipio, Utah. During his teen years he learned to play the banjo and Hawaiian
guitar and played in several bands that entertained throughout the central
part of Utah and Nevada. He played with the Ace High Band at the Hotel Utah
Frolics sponsored by KSL. During the years in Salt Lake City he took a
correspondence course in Photography. He returned to Fillmore and established
Max's Studio. In 1936 Max moved to Logan and was the Photographer for USAC
(USU). His studio was in the basement of Old Main on campus. He attended USU
and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. On July 14, 1942 he married
Alta Beth Wayman. They had a studio in their home until they opened the first
of three studios on Main Street in Logan. Max and Alta owned and operated
Brunson's Colonial Mansion Wedding Reception Center and Photography Studio for
20 plus years until they both retired. Max was a lifetime member of the
National Professional Photographer's of America and received one of two Master
Photographer A wards in the State of Utah from that Organization. He is a
member and past President of the Intermountain Professional Photographer's.
Max photographed over 350,000 individuals and groups in his sixty-year career.
He was a long time member of the Lions Club Organization. He served in the
Logan LDS Temple for eight years and was called to the bishopric in the
Crockett Ward at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife Aha Beth Brunson
and children Max Ellot Brunson Jr. and his wife Kathy (Carter) Brunson, Peter
Brunson and his wife Annette (Loveless) Brunson, Larry Brunson and his wife
Debbie (Fluckiger) Brunson, Bonnie Brunson, Norene Brunson Snyder and her
husband Steve Snyder, Julie Brunson Erekson, and James Brunson and his wife
Faye (Burklow) Brunson, 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. The
Family expresses their thanks to the staff and worker's at Pioneer Valley
Lodge and IHC Hospice who extended their services and caring to all of us. 
Funeral services will be held on Wed., December 29th at 12:00 noon in the
Crockett Ward 325 Lauralin Dr. in Logan. Friends and family may call at
Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St. in Logan on Tuesday eve Dec. 28th from
6-8 p.m. and Wed., at the Crockett Ward prior to the services 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Clark, Clarence Menzies
Clarence Menzies Clark 1911 ~ 2004  Clarence Menzies (Bill) Clark, 93 years
old, passed peacefully from this earth December 25, 2004 in Salt Lake City
surrounded by loved ones. He was born May 10, 1911 in Provo, Utah to Dr.
Clarence Merrill Clark and Jennie Belle Macfarlane Clark. Bill attended many
schools in Central and Southern Utah where his Grandfather, John Menzies
Macfarlane had helped establish early Mormon settlements. He excelled on the
debate team, starred in the school plays, played football, and played trumpet
in his own dance band, and courted his high school sweetheart, Estelle Lamb
Jackson. After graduating from the "BAC", now the Southern Utah University, he
attended the University of Southern California and graduated with a Doctor of
Dentistry degree. Bill and Estelle were married February 3, 1934 in the
Wilshire Ward in Beverly Hills, California, later solemnized in the Los
Angeles Temple. Bill and Estelle settled in Southern California where he
practiced dentistry in Los Angeles and the San Marino area. He served as
President of the Beverly Hills Kiwanis Club. During World War II, he served as
a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired from active
practice at age 68 in 1979. Following retirement, Bill and Estelle settled in
the Newport Beach, Palm Springs areas. Bill loved the sea, where he and
Estelle and their children, John and Kathleen, spent much time sailing on
their boat, the "Soncy". Bill was a crew member on the sail boat
"Constellation" which won the Trans Pacific Yacht race to Honolulu in the
1950's. Bill is survived by his beautiful wife, Estelle, of 70 years of
marriage, their two children, John Michael (Dixie Daryl Badger) Clark of Costa
Mesa, California, and Luna Kathleen (Dr. Robert H.) Horne of Salt Lake City,
Utah; six grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, who lovingly know him as
"Poppa". Preceded in death by a brother, Walter Macfarlane Clark, and sisters
LaRue Clark Larsen and Katherine Clark Anderson. Graveside services will be
held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Larkin Sunset Gardens,
1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT., where a visitation will be held one hour
prior to the service. The family would like to thank all our wonderful friends
at Wentworth Willowcreek, Silverado Care Center and Hearts for Hospice for
their loving care.

Collett, Carl S.
Carl S. Collett Father & Husband  VERNAL- Carl Stringham Collett, beloved
husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away December 24,
2004 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He passed
away surrounded by family members from complications due to a stroke. He is
will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Donna Williams and sister Edna
(Raines) of Vernal and seven sons and daughters. Craig (Sandy), Randy Cornaby
(Jay), Carl Ray (Wanda), Terell (Sheryl), Donetta Egbert (Herald), Tracy
(Susan) and Guy (Dee). Also 34 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at 11:00 at the Maeser
Stake Center (2475 West 1000 North) in Vernal, Utah. A viewing will be held
Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m. at Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary (15 East 100
North) in Vernal, and one hour prior to the services at the Chapel. Burial
will be at the Vernal Memorial Park with military honors by American Legion
Post 124 and 11. Services provided by Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.

Cox, June Smith
June Smith Cox 1925 ~ 2004  Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather June
Smith Cox, age 79, passed away peacefully at Promise Specialty Hospital  
East, in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 22, 2004 surrounded by his loving
family after a valiant fight trying to recover from heart surgery. He will be
deeply missed by all who knew him. Dad was born on June 28, 1925 at Bennett
Springs, near Panaca, Nevada, to Isaiah Joseph and Sarah LaVern Thurston Cox.
He grew up on a farm in Southern Utah learning the value of hard work. When he
was just 18 years old, he left to serve in the Army during World War II where
his life was miraculously saved many times. He received several citations
including a Purple Heart and a European Campaign Medal with 4 bronze stars.
After the war, he was able to finish high school and was called to serve an
LDS mission in the beautiful islands of Hawaii.  Dad loved to tell the story
of how he met Ruth Cornick, our Mom, at a church dance in Panaca, Nevada. He
said that her face "shone" when he first saw her. He soon followed her back to
Salt Lake City and they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 22,
1950. Dad spent many years working at Deseret Press and enjoyed printing
church magazines and books. He loved being with family and friends whether
attending a family reunion, golf, hunting or fishing on a lake. He was an
accomplished bowler, winning many trophies. Dad enjoyed helping others and
made friends easily. One of his great joys was his heritage and he spent many
hours researching his ancestors and learning about their lives. He was a
member of both the Disabled American Veterans and the Sons of the American
Revolution. Dad served faithfully in many callings in the church including
assistant clerk and temple worker. The last few years, he has lovingly taken

(Aleta) of West Valley, 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two
brothers: Mayhew and Myron (Colleen) and three sisters: Alta Carroll, Erva
Huff (Theron) and Mary Jane Leany (Reed), many cousins, nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by his parents, one brother,four brothers-in-law, two
sisters, two sisters-in-law, one niece and three nephews. The family wishes to
thank the doctors, nurses, therapists and staff at LDS Hospital TICU and
Promise Specialty Hospital (both west and east locations) for their loving
care as Dad struggled to regain his strength. Services will be held Thursday,
December 30, 2004, at the Heritage 5th Ward, 6772 So. 3420 West at 11:00 a.m.
with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday,
December 29, 2004, at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, located at 1007 W. South

Ilene Tremelling Ellerman 1945 ~ 2004  Ilene Ellerman passed away peacefully
Dec. 23, 2004. She was born Dec. 14, 1945 to Edwin and Lois Tremelling. Ilene
loved life, travel, friends and will be missed by all. Survived by her
husband, Clint Ellerman and family, children, Debbie (Eddy) Davis, Shane
(Tammy) Stoner and many grandchildren; her brother, Jack Robb; sister, Yvonne
Peterson and their families. Preceded in death by her parents and her
daughter, Kathy Stoner. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29,
2004 at 12 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1950 East.

Evans, Robert Vernal
Robert Vernal Evans 1915 ~ 2004    Our beloved husband, father and
grandfather, Robert Vernal Evans, died Dec. 23, 2004, in Murray, Utah, of
pneumonia, precipitated by a fall at his home and subsequent surgery.   He was
born July 3, 1915, in Murray, Utah, to Robert David and Zina Taylor Carlisle
Evans. Married Clara Elsie Patterson on May 31, 1938, in the Salt Lake Temple.
For 66 years they shared a union blessed with companionship and devotion.  
The eldest of five children, Vern was raised in Murray, Utah. He grew up on
his family's homestead along the Jordan River, where he loved hunting and
fishing, and developed an abiding respect for the Native Americans who
wintered there. He attended Granite High School and later worked in steel
fabrication, becoming a well-known and highly respected steel layout
specialist with the Lang Company, Alpine Metals and IRECO Chemicals. He worked
on several Jordan School District committees and assisted in planning many
civic activities for Sandy City.   Vern loved his religion and fulfilled
leadership positions with the Priesthood, Sunday School, and Stake High
Council. With Clara, he served as an endowment worker at the Provo Temple and
as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple. Upon retirement, Vern was a
dedicated fisherman, prolific gardener, and a voracious reader. Blessed with a
quick wit and keen intelligence, he enjoyed the challenges of difficult
religious, historical and philosophical texts. He love time spent with family
and friends, especially if it involved hunting, fishing, or reminiscing about
either one.   Vern is survived by his loving and devoted wife Clara; sons
Vernal Ray (Karen) Evans, Taylorsville; Robert Kent (Annette) Evans, Mapleton;
and daughter Clara Diane (Bjorn) Evans Olsen, Sandy; 17 grandchildren, 17
great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death
by his parents, brothers Russell David and Joseph Owen, and sisters Dorothy
and Ione.   The family extends special thanks to St. Mark's Hospital and the
caring staff of Residence Hospice Center. Their comfort and compassion enabled
Vern to slip away with the dignity he valued so much in life.   Funeral
services will be Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at 11:00 am at the Alta Heights
Ward, 1500 East 8600 South. Family and friends may call Tuesday, from 6:00 pm
to 8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600

Robert L. Fuelling 1922~2004  Robert L. Fuelling died on December 18, 2004 at
his home in Northern Georgia.  He was born on August 12, 1922, in Park City,
Utah. Yvonne Barnhurst Fuelling, his wife of 57 years, preceded him in death
in 2001.  He is survived by two daughters, two grandsons, and many nieces and
nephews.  For 37 years he worked for Mountain Bell and was active in the
Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention. Funeral services will be held

Laura Louise Bonner Griffin 1907 ~ 2004  Our beloved mother, sister and
grandmother Laura Griffin passed away on Dec. 25, 2004 in Sandy UT.  She was
born on April 6, 1907 in Poplar Grove Arkansas to LeAndrew and Annie Bonner.
She married Arthur Griffin and they were later divorced. Laura is survived by
daughters; Sylvia Packer, Murray; Ardie (Burt) Jarvis, Taylorsville; Barbara
Martinez, West Jordan; son, Allen (Jan) Griffin, West Jordan; 20
grandchildren; 30 great-grandchil-dren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and
sisters: Lois Bordelon of Salt Lake and Della Youngberg of Torrance, CA. She
was preceded in death by three daughters; two sisters; two brothers; and four
grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to Laura Lee
Steiner for the loving care that she gave grandma for the last several years,
as well as to the doctors and nurses at Crosslands Care Center and Lifepath

Heath, James Leslie
James Leslie Heath "Our Idol"  James Leslie Heath, 80, our beloved and
respected dad and grandpa, returned to his soul mate on Christmas Day,
December 25, 2004, surrounded by his family.  He was born September 30, 1924
in Garfield, Utah to Hyrum Leslie and Clara Afton Hards Health. On June 11,
1942 in married LaVerda Behunin in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized
in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. LaVerda preceded Jim in death Oct. 12, 2003. Jim
was a Veteran of World War II and was employed at Mountain Bell for 38 years.
He enjoyed all outdoor activities and relished riding his four-wheeler at Fish
Lake Mountain. Jim was proud of being a "die-hard Democrat". He was active in
and supportive of his LDS Church activities. His role of caregiver to his
beloved wife and family earned him the love and admiration of his children and
grandchildren. Survivors: children, Terry and Judy Bagley, Jeanne McMullin,
Kenny and Kolette Heath, Gail and Sheila McDonald, Flash and Pam Deros; 36
grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three
brothers and three sisters. Preceded in death by his wife, LaVerda; beloved
son, Stan; grandson, Paul; great-granddaughter, Maegan; and one sister.

Higley, Marion C.
Marion C. Higley 1916 ~ 2004  Marion Cluff Higley, 88, of Alpine/Pleasant
Grove, died December 22, 2004 in Pleasant Grove.  He was born February 6, 1916
in Erda, Utah to Oliver Asa and Henrietta Cartwright Higley.  He married Alona
Wulffenstein, June 6, 1935 in St. George, Utah. Their marriage was later
solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was active in the LDS Church,
serving with his wife at the Utah State Training School Branch for 21 years.
He worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and spending
time with his family. He always treated everyone fairly and was honest in his
dealings. He is survived by a daughter Virginiaette Forte, Pleasant Grove;
three sons, Leonard Gene (Jana) Higley, Lehi, Ray Oliver Higley, Oregon,
Lawrence James (Ardith) Higley, Tooele; 27 grandchildren, over 40
great-grandchildren and some great- great-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by his wife Alona, two sons, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 30 in the Battle Creek 6th
Ward, 825 South Loader Dr., Pleasant Grove, UT. Friends may call at Anderson &

Hofheins, Cloyd C.
Cloyd C. Hofheins 1924 ~2004  Cloyd C. Hofheins passed away peacefully in his
sleep on Monday, December 27, 2004. He was born on November 17, 1924 in Levan,
Utah to Clarence Lee Hofheins and Minnie Elease Hofheins, the third of six
children. He attended Salt Lake City public schools and graduated from West
High School in 1942. He continued his education at the University of Utah
where he courted and married his high school sweetheart Lucile Joan Lloyd. He
received a Baccalaureate degree in Biological Sciences and finished a Medical
Doctorate in 1948. He was successful in a wide range of private and military
professional positions and activities. He was admired by patients and
colleagues alike. As the Director of the Student Health Center at Brigham
Young University, he initiated programs that benefited countless students. He
retired from full-time medical practice in 1988. His love was his family. As a
father of seven sons and three daughters, he supported his children in all of
their endeavors including education, sports, music, and business. An active
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he diligently
fulfilled many callings and with his wife served medical missions to the
Philippines, Brazil and an LDS Social Service mission in Utah. He was preceded
in death by his oldest son Steven. He is survived by his wife Joan, and his
children Christine (John Donaldson), Bryan (Arden), Carolyn (Fred Howard),
Timothy (RuthAnn), Leonard (Deborah), Lucile (Allen Anderson), Gordon
(Rebecca), Clarence (Kristyn), and Nathan (Lisa). His brother Grant A. (Carol)
Hofheins, sister Joanne (Stan Vaughn), 47 grandchildren and 15
great-grand-children also survive.  Funeral services will be held Thursday,
December 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillside LDS Chapel, 1960 North 1500

Mabel B Krieg 1912 ~2004  Mabel B Krieg, 92, passed away Dec. 26, 2004 in Salt
Lake City, Utah. She was born October 10, 1912 in Ogden, Utah to Franklin
Emerson Stephens and Sarah Bitton. She married Frederick Theodore Larsen in
Farmington, Utah on December 8, 1928 (deceased.) She married William Lewis
Krieg March 21, 1953 in Ogden, Utah (deceased.) She was a devoted wife,
mother, grandmother who loved the Lord and her family. She was a member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Corner Canyon ward in Draper,
Utah. She had a great love for music. This love developed early in her life at
the age of six when her father taught her to play the banjo, then the
mandolin. She enjoyed playing with the family for church socials, community
and family functions. In her later years she taught herself to play the organ.
She would play for her own enjoyment and for others on request.  She is
survived by her children Ted, deceased (Lavon) Larsen, Layton, Utah; Robert
(JeNiel) Larsen, Manila, Utah; Darlene (Tom) Dipo, Draper, Utah. She had 11
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Thank
you Heavenly Father for allowing this wonderful woman, this loving mother to
walk life's path with us, sharing in our sorrows, our happiness, and our
dreams, for such a long time. She taught us the true meaning of love and
kindness. Our family is very grateful to the staff at "Care Source" in Salt
Lake City for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday,
December 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary and

Moll, Allan J.
Allan J. Moll 1922 ~ 2004   Longtime Salt Lake City resident and retired
broadcaster, attorney, and civil servant, Allan J. Moll, passed away Dec. 22,
2004. He was 82.  Born in Minnesota to Eza and Fannie Moll, he moved to Salt
Lake City in 1934. His broadcasting career began at KDYL Radio. In December,
1941, at the age of 19, one of his first assignments was reporting the
Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor to listeners in the inter-mountain west.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps stationed at Bowman
Field, Kentucky near Cincinnati, broadcasting world events as he saw them.
After graduation from the University of Utah Law School, he was admitted to
the Utah Bar Association. In the Utah pioneering tradition, he inaugurated the
"first" commercial TV news broadcast in Salt Lake in 1948. He maintained a
private law practice and continued news broadcasting until 1958 when he moved
to Los Angeles. For the next ten years he was news director at the RKO General
affiliate, KHJ Radio and Television. While in California, he had the
opportunity to interview many distinguished people including former President
Harry S. Truman, future President John F. Kennedy, former Arizona Senator
Barry Goldwater, Jimmy Stewart, Bob Hope and Bettie Davis. Upon arrival back
to Salt Lake, his broadcasting and journalism career took him to Channel 4.
After more than five decades in broadcast news, he retired when Channel 4 KCPX
changed owners and became KTVX. In 2001 he was inducted by the Utah Radio and
Television Association as "Broadcaster of the Year". In addition to his
broadcasting career, Allan enjoyed a legal career of 25 years with the Salt
Lake County Attorney's Office as a Deputy County Attorney. His legal
experiences included being a federal court defense attorney, Counsel for the
Salt Palace and Convention Bureau, Health Department, the Career Service
Council and Board of County Commissioners and other elected officials. He
spent two decades as Salt Lake County's chief spokesman at the Utah
Legislature. He participated on the Board of Directors for the Statewide
Association of County Attorneys and the Legal Aid Society. He received the
"Outstanding Lawyer of the Year" award by the Utah State Justice Court
Association and was honored in 1997 by the BYU Political and Legislative
Association as Outstanding Utah Lawyer of the Year. Recognizing his many years
of service to Salt Lake County, the Utah Senate passed a resolution
recognizing him as "the 30th Senator". As one of the leading experts and
practitioners of public law, he enjoyed the support of attorneys and
legislators statewide. Working closely with elected and department officials,
he maintained the independence to advise individuals and governmental agencies
what the law was and not what they wanted to hear. His years as an acclaimed
TV news anchor and journalist provided the background for his public advocacy
on social and governmental problems and the important concerns raised by the
needs for public health and safety. In 1994, he ran for the office of Salt
Lake County Attorney. He retired from his legal career in 1996. He married
Sherie Solomon in 1956 and then later divorced in 1970.  He is survived by his
daughter, Michelle Lund, (Robert); grandchildren Macy and Sage; nephew Michael
(Deanne) Silverstein; nieces Samantha Moll, Abby Moll, Vicki Moll, and Steffi
Carpenter; and brother Sam Moll. He was preceded in death by his son Barry
Moll and sister Jean Silverstein.  Memorial Services will be held, Wednesday,
December 29, 2004 at 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary, 100 S. 574
E., Salt Lake City. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City cemetery. In lieu

Moody, Maria Charlotta
Maria Charlotta Stolpe Moody 1915 ~ 2004  Maria Charlotta Moody, lovingly
called Maja by her family and all her many friends around the world, died on
December 26th after a long, productive, and wonderful life. Her passing was as
in life, peaceful and in the arms of her husband and in the presence of her
family.  Maja was the 8th of 11 children born to Alfred and Hilda Stolpe in
Skillingmark Sweden on May 12th, 1915. She attended the local schools in
Skillingfors, and Arvika, Sweden for her primary education.  While living with
her Uncle Fritiof, Aunt Helga, and cousin Ann Marie Johansson in Edane Sweden,
she attended high school in Kathrine Holm, where she studied homemaking and
domestic skills. She used this background to good advantage in the home of
Consul General Johnson. During World War II, she was active in administrative
work within the Swedish Defense Ministry, and subsequently as an
administrative assistant in Hapsberg Sweden. It was at that time in the early
1950s that she decided to pursue her dream, which was to come to America. It
was quite a coincidence that one of her family members had spent a few years
in Salt Lake City, and was able to tell her what a wonderful place it was to
live. We are blessed that this has become her final resting place.        Maja
arrived in New York City after passing by the Statue of Liberty on February
14, 1955. She then moved to California where she worked as a cook for a few
years before establishing her own career as a cosmetologist in San Francisco.
It was here that she met her husband of 40 years, then a young Assistant
Professor of Surgery at the University of California in San Francisco. After a
period of time at the University of Alabama, Maja and Frank, with their three
children moved to the University of Utah School of Medicine where Frank
assumed the role of Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery.  In
1983, Maja and Frank moved to Houston, Texas, where Frank became Chairman of
the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas, where he currently
works.   The Utah years were wonderful years for the Moody family, living at
the Top of the World on Kings Hill Drive, and enjoying all the gifts that Utah
provides in such abundance. As the children grew older and started to leave
the nest, Maja embarked on a fourth career, that of an artist. She was often
called upon to display her musical talents, having been born into a musical
family, but she never had had the time to demonstrate a second unique talent,
the ability to paint. In order to prepare herself, she enrolled in Art 101 at
the U. of U., and while she was discouraged initially from taking the course,
she took it anyway and was fortunate in having Tony Smith as her teacher. It
was not long before Maja was painting almost 24 hours a day, and within a few
years had a one person showing in New York, and subsequently exhibited her
unique paintings in Sweden, Capetown, London, and Salt Lake City.  She proudly
became a United States citizen on August 28, 1997. Maja leaves behind three
children, Anne, Frank, and Jane, and six grandchildren, Donald, Megan, 
Frances, Rachel, Bruce Tyson, and Bryce. Her daughter, Anne Mjaatvedt, J.D.,
Ph.D., is an attorney living with her husband Dr. Corey Mjaatvedt, Ph.D., a
developmental biologist at the Medical University of South Carolina in
Charleston.  Her son Frank Wilson Moody is a computer programmer and is
married to Wynne Smith, Director of Development at the S.J. Quinney College of
Law at the University of Utah. They reside in Park City, Utah. Jane Bjorklund,
Maja's youngest daughter, is a clinical trial coordinator for multiple
sclerosis studies at the University of Utah, and is married to Bruce
Bjorklund, a teacher at Juan Diego Catholic High School in Draper.  Maja was
very proud of her children and their accomplishments in life, and the love and
tender care that they in turn provide for their children. Maja was the last to
pass on from her immediate family, but is survived by a cousin, Ann Marie
Johansson Lundeen of Edane and Stockholm Sweden, and two nieces, Christina
Fogmark, of Bluma Sweden, and Nina Stolpe of Texas, to whom she has remained
close.  The Moody family gives special thanks to Rosa Silva, Raquel Luz and
Marcia Pinkermann, who gave Maja such loving care in her final years. A
Memorial Service will be held at the Community of Grace Presbyterian Church,
2015 E. Newcastle Drive, Sandy, Wednesday morning, Dec. 29 at 10:0 am
graveside service will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery at 1950 E.
10600 S. for those who wish to attend.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to
the Stolpe-Moody Trust, 2913 E. Legacy Park Lane, Salt Lake City, 84093, which
is being established for developing a Music and Performing Arts Center at
Tomta, her Swedish Home in Klassbol Sweden, and for medical charities at the
discretion of the Trust in the years ahead.

Charles R. Neslen 1923 ~ 2004  Charles R. Neslen, 81, passed away peacefully
December 24, 2002 surrounded by his family.Born September 1, 1923 in Salt Lake
City to C. Clarence and Grace Cannon Neslen. Married Minnie May Hardy March
19, 1948. She died March 13, 1966. Married LeVern Bigelow Ericksen, May 24,
1968. Member of the LDS Church. Good friend to many. Served in the U.S. Army
during World War II and received a Purple Heart. Survived by wife LeVern;
children Pat (Jay) Hatch; Ruth (Lanny) Lovato; Bruce (Ronalee) Ericksen; Jean
Morton; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister Trudy Bennion. The
family wishes to thank the staff at the Veterans Hospital and Nursing Home for
their kindness and care.  Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 30, at 11

Pappas, Pauline Horning "Polly"
Pauline Horning Pappas "Polly"  Pauline Horning Pappas age 83, died Dec, 26,
2004 in Salt Lake City.  She was born Aug 21, 1921 in Thistle, Utah to Edwin
Paul and Mae Horning. She married Louis C. Pappas July 29, 1943. Polly was a
Registered Nurse and worked at Holy Cross Hospital for many years and later
worked for Dr. Roy E. Briney until she retired. She loved to play bridge.
Pauline is survived by her son Jim and his wife Lynne, Oakley, Utah; six
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister Editha Mower of Salt
Lake City. She was preceded in death by her son Steve and husband Louis.

Loris Luana Stones Poole 1925 ~ 2004  Loris Luana Stones Poole passed away Dec
24, 2004 in Salt Lake City.  She was born November 6, 1925 in Union (Sandy),
Utah to Delbert and Arzell Casper Stones. Married Thomas William Poole on June
7, 1941; on June 10, 1958 the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS
Temple.  Mama served faithfully in the LDS Church for many years. She served
in all the auxiliaries at one time or another but really enjoyed working in
the nursery with the little children. She was a member of the PTA and helped
in many classrooms while her children were young. She was very patient and
loving. She took care of and looked after Daddy for four years while he was
bedridden until he passed away. She was a riveter on the B-24 planes during
World War II.  She was always busy and taught her children to be good workers.
She also taught them the Gospel and loved our Savior very much. Mama was all
about family. Her family meant the world to her. She really enjoyed her little
great-grandchildren these past few months. She will be greatly missed, but we
are so happy for her because now she can "walk and not faint, and run and not
be weary." We love you, Mama! She is survived by daughters, Nadene (Blaine)
Gibb, Dorothy (Mike) Stallieviere and Sheryl Poole; sons, Delbert (LeeAnn),
Steven, David and Arthur (Michelle) Poole; brothers, Arthur and Larry Stones;
20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by sisters,
Vicky Stones Sharples and Dorothy Stones; daughter, Robin Judy Poole; parents;
husband, Thomas W. Poole (Bill) and granddaughter, Adrienne Marie Shely.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Ridgeland
Acres Ward, 3450 W. 3100 S. The family will receive friends at a viewing on
Wed., from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S., and one hour
prior to the service at the ward. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.  In
lieu of flowers, friends may honor Loris by donating to the Care Source
Charitable Foundation, 1625 East 4500 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84117. To my
family and friends, please be thankful today. I'm still close beside you in a
new special way, because I'm spending my Christmas with Jesus this year.

Radford, Ralph and Carol
Ralph A. Radford & Carol R. Radford Lifelong Companions  Carol Radford, 84,
Salt Lake City, peacefully passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22nd, surrounded by her
family.  She was followed in death three days later by her devoted husband of
64 years, Ralph Allen Radford, 89, who died of unrelated causes on  December
25. Ralph Allen Radford was born on April 30, 1915 in Oakdale, LA to Arthur
Chester Radford and Ila Tennessee Crisp. After graduating from the University
of Idaho in Electrical Engineering he was hired by Utah Power & Light Co. He
married Carol Rosenlof on Dec. 24, 1940 in St. Anthony, ID. The following
year, shortly after the beginning of World War II, he enlisted in the U.S.
Navy, serving in Washington, DC, Boston, and Hawaii as a Lieutenant. During
his service in the Navy, he received additional training at both MIT and
Harvard, gaining graduate level electronic training on some of the world's
first computers. After the war Ralph returned to UP&L, eventually being
promoted to Chief Electrical Engineer and Manager of Engineering Services. He
retired from the company with over 40 years of service. Ralph enjoyed lifetime
hobbies of photography, flower gardening and the family vacations to Colorado. 
Carol Rosenlof was born Sept. 20, 1920 to Chancie Denzel Rosenlof and Ida
Luella Black in St. Anthony, Idaho. Carol's lifelong dedication was as a wife,
mother and homemaker. She always enjoyed traveling and spending time with her
husband and family. Their last year of life was spent at Wentworth Assisted
Living Center and their family expresses gratitude for their kindness. As a
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she especially loved
teaching small children in the Primary for many years.  Ralph and Carol are
survived by their four children: Stan (Susan) Radford (Sandy, UT); Steve (Kim)
Radford (The Woodlands, TX); Patrice (Fred) Wetzel (Sandy, UT); and Neil
(Karla) Radford (Denville, NJ); and 18 grandchildren and 16
great-grand-children. They were preceded in death by Ralph's brother, Chester,
and two sisters, Erma and Iva and Carol's brother, Don. Ralph is survived by
two sisters, Lila Oviatt and Jean Briggs. Ralf and Carols' viewing will be
held Wednesday evening, Dec. 29th at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary (1950 E.
10600 So., Sandy) from 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral
on Thursday, Dec. 30th at the Mount Olympus 5th Ward, 3640 E Millstream Ln
(3510 S) Salt Lake City, UT. The interment will be at the Larkin Sunset
Gardens Cemetery.

Shipp, Edwin Carl
Edwin Carl Shipp 1915 ~ 2004   Edwin passed away on Christmas Day at home,
surrounded by his loved ones. He was born 30 July 1915 in Salt Lake City to
Annie May Newton and Carl Bingham Shipp.  He graduated from East High and the
University of Utah in Electrical Engineering. He served a mission for the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark from 1935 to 1938. He
married Leila Petty in the Salt Lake Temple, 6 June 1940. He formed Shipp
Electric Company, which lighted many buildings, including the new lighting of
the Manti, Hawaii and Salt Lake Temples, and the Salt Lake Tabernacle. He
served as a Salt Lake Temple Ordinance Worker for 33 years from 1953 to 1986,
under nine Temple Presidents. His wife joined him in serving under Presidents
Marion D. Hanks and Victor L. Brown.. He served as a Ward Clerk for five
bishops in the Salt Lake Monument Park Stake. Edwin and Leila served many
Church Missions together, building the Kingdom of God. He is survived by his
dear wife Leila Petty Shipp. They are blessed with 8 children: Charles
(Lynnette), CA; Marilyn, Lindon; Richard (Kherna), Orem; Jane (Michael Hogan),
Fruit Heights; Norman (Angela), ID; Milton (Heidi), SLC; James (Julie), Orem.
They have 34 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren. Also survived by
Woodley Bingham Shipp (brother), and Maureen Shipp Glew (sister). Preceded in
death by Lorene Shipp (daughter), Floyd Newton Shipp (brother), May Shipp Peck
and Margaret Shipp Nelson (sisters). In lieu of flowers, may we suggest
contributions to the Book of Mormon or Temple Fund. Thank you. Funeral
services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the Monument

Annie H. Thomas 11/22/15 ~ 12/27/04  Annie H. Thomas our beloved mother,
grandmother and aunt passed away on December 27, 2004 in Sandy, Utah.  She was
born on November 22, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Annie was very active in
Centenary United Methodist Church. She served meals at St. Vincent DePaul
Mission and was an avid Jazz fan. Annie is survived by a son John Thomas
(Jeanie); grandchildren Lisa M. Denny, (Jay), Brian J. Thomas, Shaun M.
Thomas. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank R. Thomas. Funeral
services will be Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn
Mortuary Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Family will
receive friends one hour prior to services. The family would like to thank the

Florence May Thompson 2/26/24 ~12/23/04  Florence May Thompson, beloved
mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away December 23, 2004 in
Henderson, Nevada. She spent her life in service to others, always helping
those in need. She will be missed by many who received of her kindness. She
was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent many
years working in the Genealogy Department. She is survived by her sons, Orrin
Ray (Suzy) and William C. (Sandra) Stapp; six grandchildren, Katie Marsh, Ray
William Stapp, Raylynn Stapp, Karrie Peterson, Amy Stapp, and Emily Stapp.
Special thanks go to LaRona Brassfield of Sandy Valley, Nevada who lovingly
cared for Florence during the last months of her life. Funeral services will
be held at the Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, on
Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour

Marie K.Wagner 1920 ~ 2004  Our loving mom, grandma and great-grandmother
passed away peacefully in her home that she loved so much on December 26,
2004. She was born October 1, 1920 to Michael and Erma Kallas in Cumberland,
Wyoming. She served in the Women's Army Corp in World War II in San Luis
Obispo, CA and was awarded the Victory Medal in October, 1945.She is survived
by her five children, Yvonne, Courtnee, Paul, Wendy and Steve; eight
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held
at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 3401 S. Highland Drive, Wednesday, December
29, 2004 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American

Winsor, Helen Francom Vicchrilli
Helen Francom Vicchrilli Winsor 5/13/13 ~ 12/23/04  Our sweet mother went home
for the holidays to be with other family members who have gone before her. Mom
passed away December 23, 2004. She was born to Jacob and Bessie Francom on May
13, 1913 in West Jordan. Attended school in West Jordan and graduated from
Jordan High School in 1931. Married Tony Vicchrilli on May 14, 1931 in Murray,
together they had eight children. She worked along side our Dad on their farm
in West Jordan for many years. Mom worked at many different jobs throughout
her life, but the one she enjoyed the most was when she worked for the old and
the new St. Marks Hospital. Tony passed away on July 20, 1966 from an
industrial accident at Kennecott. She met Walter (Clive) Winsor, they were
married on November 3, 1975. He passed away on May 15, 1999. She was a member
of The Church of Latter-day Saints. Survived by Rosella (Jean) West, Sandy;
Von (Sheryl) Vicchrilli, Midvale; Luella (Hershel) Thompson, West Jordan; Jan
Price, Sandy; Tommy (Mary) Vicchrilli, West Jordan; Mary (Stephen) Nix, N.J.;
and LaVern (Stuart) Hembury, Sandy; 32 grandchildren; and numerous great and
great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husbands Tony and
Walt, son Steven, and grandsons Nathan, Collin, and Conner. The family
expresses special thanks to Nau, Mom's day-time caregiver for the last three
years, and to Rose of Harmony Home Health & Hospice. Funeral services will be
held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St. in Murray on Thursday,

Young, Hal Byrne
Hal Byrne Young 1926 ~2004  Our dear father, Hal Byrne Young, passed into his
Heavenly Father's arms surrounded by his children on Christmas eve 2004. Born
March 15, 1926 in Kanab, Utah to Ray Byrne Young and Millie Cutler. Married to
Joyce LaVerna Jones on November 13, 1949. Solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS
Temple, July 18, 1982.  He loved flying. He flew for Pan American Airlines and
retired a captain after 26 years. He continued to fly and taught those who
shared his love for flying.  He was a true and honest friend with a keen sense
of humor and will be greatly missed. Hal was a caring and loving husband and
father, who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his precious wife, Joyce LaVerna Jones, his eldest son,
Randy Scott Young, two sisters, LaVenda Freund and Carol Neville, and one
brother, Ray C. Young.  Survived by his daughter, Diane (David) Vandivere,
Bountiful; his son, Steven Hal (Kimberly) Young, Bountiful; daughter-in-law,
Patty Ann Young, Layton; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and sister,
Emma Jean Neal, California. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30,
2004 at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful Hills Ward Chapel, 1190 East Bountiful Hills

Melvin J. Young 1933 ~2004  WEST VALLEY CITY/IVINS, UTAH - Melvin J. Young
passed away at home on December 24, 2004. Born November 29, 1933, Salt Lake
City, Utah to Joseph Alonzo Young and June Davis Young. Married Marian L.
Steele on June 23, 1952. Employed with Boise Cascade for 18 years and retired
from Kennecott Copper after 27 years as a heavy duty machinist. Survived by
his loving wife and their four children, Carolyn (Kevin) Jenkins, Tarolyn
(Jim) McFall, Sharon (Rod) Gerrard and Dennis (Teri) Young; 11 grandchildren
and one great-grand-child. Preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Frank
and Joe Young, and granddaughter, Kristi McFall. Dad was a quiet man, who
lived a quiet life and died peacefully. He was considered amongst us as a
"Silent Giant." Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at
Valley View Funeral Home Chapel, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah
